We had a late lunch with our two young kiddos. The service was quick and waitress was friendly. The food was delicious, and reasonably priced. The kids loved the Mickey pancakes, my husband had the country fried steak, and I had the western omelette, huge...portions and so good. We all left full and happy, definitely recommend!!More

Wide ranging menu. Enticing presentation. Cooked just right. Coffee is good. Pumpernickel bread. Corned beef hash. They have it all. My tongue and stomach were both very happy

I've been out of the area and I've missed Highland Park Diner. Now don't get me wrong the last time I was there it was dirty, tired and the staff was so so. I was hoping it had improved and I was NOT disappointed. They...have remoldled the inside a bit ago and it's darling. They also take the social distancing very seriously placing large plastic panels between booths and seating everyone with plenty of room apart. It was like coming home again. The food was amazing and all I had was eggs, but the husband had corn beef and loved it. We were also greeted with huge smiles, hellos and take a seat we are glad you are here. Great way to greet your customers...Nailed it Highland Park Diner. See you again soon!!!More

I usually love this place but this time not at all. It seems the quality of food has hit an all time low. I ordered an omelet, which was overcooked, lacked any flavor. Toast wasn't even buttered, I actually used my own packets of butter...in my toast. Home fries, lacked flavor and were burned, not crispy. I left most of my meal. I don't know what's going on that kitchen but the chefs are clueless. My son has a milk shake that cost almost $8, wow. Nope not going back.More

We have been going to the highland diner for many years. Always been a special treat. Food of high quality. I think we hit a bad day or a Bad cook/ waitress.? I ordered hamburger. A little pink inside .The hamburger was quite large which...Is why I love the Highland diner. They give you great portions. My hamburger was raw and bloody. She brought it back. When she returned with the same hamburger it was basically the same. Still bloody. I told her it was too bloody. She brought it back to the kitchen again. When she returned she brought back a hamburger a size of my palm 3” round. I said nothing for I knew the cook was upset and I didn’t want to chance what he might do next ( not saying highland diner would do anything but I heard stories about other places). The waitress said nothing. It wasn’t the place was busy. We were the only ones in there I will never go back in there again after going there for 20 plus years. I was in the hospital(around the corner) all night and just wanted to treat myself. She didnt take it off the bill. I didn’t eat anything .Wasn’t feeling well enough to say anythingMore

Charming, clean, retro boxcar-shaped diner. Very good food. Service is fast and friendly--our waitress handled multiple orders (and a food allergy) with ease. Tasty soups, sandwiches, and breakfast fare. One of the few eateries left in the area that offers classic milk shakes. Expect to...wait in line on weekends--breakfast is always busy, though the tables turn quickly. There are a few outdoor tables, in season. Note: The diner is located at one of those annoying 5-way intersections in a busy neighborhood. There are only few parking spots; you'll likely need to park on one of the side streets. Because of the traffic, getting into--and out of--the parking lot can take awhile. But the food, service, and classic '40s diner atmosphere are well worth return visits.More

We stopped in for breakfast on our last day in town. I had the chicken verde omelet, and my wife had the raspberry French toast. Everything was fantastic. Mary was the lone server holding down the fort in the early morning, and she effortlessly glided...throughout the diner taking orders, serving food, and refilling coffee. Will DEFINITELY be back!More

I always look for an Eggs Benedict on the menu of any breakfast place I visit. The vast amount of dishes containing hollandaise was impressive. Eggs Florentine, even a mexican version of an eggs benedict type dish. Service was predictably prompt as I sat at...the counter right on the aisle. The eggs and toast were done perfectly as was the grits side that came with it although the grits were unsalted and bland. Maybe that is the way they are supposed to be. I like a touch of salt and pepper prior to serving. The hollandaise was separating and had a processed taste. It wasn't something I would send back but I have had many better. Also, my server did not check back on me with my satisfaction with the meal. I wasn't out of the way, either as I had mentioned. It is a very basic duty of a server to check back with your guests to see how everything is. I wasn't even asked at the cashier check out either.More

Charming old fashioned diner. Very good food, served fast and cheerfully. Excellent soups, too! Wish we'd had time for a shake or dessert--they really looked tempting. Sigh. Would have liked to have stayed for breakfast, too. Note: We were from out of town and looking...to eat supper. The restaurant is located at one of those confusing 5-way intersections in an old, somewhat transitional neighborhood. There are only a few parking spots; otherwise you'll have to find a spot on one of the many busy streets. If you're not familiar with the area, going at night could be difficult.More

Sat at the counter on a pretty busy Saturday. I wanted the breakfast skillet, but with a velvety, runny yoke dripping all over it, instead of scrambled as the menu states. They perfectly poached my egg, which seems a bit above and beyond your average...diner. Potatoes and homemade biscuit were terrific too. Aside from poaching my egg, my coffee never got more than half-empty before refilled. Delicious food, good service, bottomless coffee. What more can you ask of a diner? If I lived in Rochester I would be a regular at this place.More
