I love this restaurant! First, the ambiance was lovely. quiet, peaceful, elegant, and quant. We ordered haddock french and eggplant parm. both came with a salad and side that was included- we chose baked potato and pasta. the salad came with optional chick peas and...croutons. the food was FABULOUS. We ordered off the early bird and ate for less than 40.00 for both of us. The waitress was so kind, easy going and helpful. I wish there were more restaurants liket this in the rochester area.More

THis used to be our go to place . We'd been going there for over forty years . BUt the quality has gone down, down ,down . The menu has remained the same for near those forty years and a change should have been done...LONG ago . The prices are HIGH for the quality . Once they took thier lamb off the menu [ my last go to meal } we were done . Started to look for less expensive place with better food and we have found several . Very sad to see what has happened to our favorite place !More

My Mother and I went for her birthday. My baked ziti was good but her eggplant parmesan was hideous! 4 super thin, tough pieces of tasteless eggplant. We had to ask for fresh bread as our waiter delivered 4 tiny stale pieces. We've dined there for years but...won't be back.More

My husband, I and 2 other couples go out twice a month and try new restaurants. We decided to try Charlie Browns. It was awful. The waitress was beyond rude when we asked for separate checks. From that point on she would not pay any...attention to our table and would go out of her way to ignore us. The fries were under cooked and the portions were tiny. My 14 ounce prime rib was all fat and not medium. It was rare. I could not get my waitresses attention to cook it a little more as she never stopped back. I will never go back and we drove an hour to go. Very disappointedMore

We ordered take out. The onion soup was overly salty, sadly light on the beefy onion flavor it should have and sparse on the onions which included hard to chew pieces. I love onion soup and order almost everywhere and this was just OK and...I would never order it again. My Charlie Brown's Salad had the core part of the stem by the root in it. The lettuce did not appear fresh. It was not appealing at all and another thing I will never order again. This was our 53rd wedding anniversary and we were expecting the meal quality to be up to it's usual standards. Now we have had wonderful meals there in the past and I would recommend people try it. It may be that they are understaffed as a lot of places are now.More

First off called to ask if they had the early bird and was told yes so I proceeded to set up a reservation for 5 and was told there was a cancellation so no problem. Running late called to update for 5:30 and they said...no problem. Upon walking in it smelled nice and seemed homey so we proceeded inside. Hostess seated us and we went to order and was told there is no early bird due to it being fathers day. I didn’t argue even though I was told yes originally. We ordered our food - the salad came - it was fine but then the entrees got there and that’s where It went downhill. The chicken cutlet parmigiana taster Like the chicken was frozen then cooked and the sauce with the spaghetti that everyone rants about was gross. I had the chicken French which was ok but the cutlets were very small and too thick. They could have pounded them down a little. Instead of paying 13.95 each we paid $21 each. Two meals inedible and we dropped almost $60. Again it was fathers day so I didn’t raise a stink. Leaving the establishment both my wife and myself had upset stomachs. We will never go back there again and would really and honestly suggest YOU DON’T EITHER !!More

The chefs at Charley Brown's have done it again! Since the restaurant has opened again for indoor dining, the chefs' specials have been new, very creative, delicious and exciting! Scallop Scampi! I have never had this before and it was fantastic! The ingredients are a...secret but the flavor is one that everyone who likes seafood should try! This is the best Scampi I have ever had! The Beefsteak Tomato Salad, the Prime Rib Stroganoff, and the Pan Seared Mahi were also made better than ever with creative twists that had to be tasted to believed. If you are looking for an exciting restaurant to enjoy elegant indoor dining, Charley Brown's is the place. They are observing all social distancing guiidelines and our server Beth was gracious and wonderful. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit to Charley Brown's to try another of the chefs' dinner features.More

This past Saturday evening we went to Charley Brown's fir our first dine-in meal since the lockdown started. It was like going home again after a long time away. The owners and staff followed the social distancing rules and regulation perfectly with properly spaced tables,...etc. Take out is good, but getting to enjoy dining in was WONDERFUL! All our favorite dishes were served by the same staff members and it was like old home week. The food was great, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the wine selections were perfectly paired with our meals, and the desert menu had something for everyone! This uplifting evening showed we will all get back to normal and Charley Brown's will lead the way! So, get out of the kitchen, get out of the house and go to Charley Brown's for a lovely evening that will make the new normal feel like the normal we remember and can still enjoy at this fantastic restaurant!More

We were surprised to get a reservation as we thought it was Father’s Day. It wasn’t. Social distancing was carefully maintained, and all staff was masked. Drinks were brought quickly. The salads were perfect filled with great ingredients. We both ordered Veal Parmigiana. It was...fantastic. It was perfectly cooked and loaded with cheese and sauce. I couldn’t finish mine, so they packed it for me. I asked for an extra scoop of sauce which was graciously provided. I had half for lunch today and will have the rest tomorrow. Service was perfect. Will be back soon!More

This evening my family celebrated Mother's Day with take out dinners from Charley Brown's in Penfield, NY. Our meals started with salads with generous portions of crumbly blu cheese and delicious basalmic salad dressing. An excellent start! For appitizers we shared an order of Artichoke...French in a delectible sauce. The serving was enough for two to share and it was fantastic! My house guest enjoyed the Seafood Lasagne. It was a large portion chocked full of lobster, shimp, scallops and crab, artichoke hearts, and a variety of other secret recipe ingredients that combined to create a dish fit for a very special dinner! For my dinner I selected the Portabella mushroom/eggplant vegetarian lasagne. This is one of my favorite dishes from Charley Brown's and this take-out selection was not only wonderful but also generous. I had half for dinner this evening and will have the other half for another meal. This dish is rich in flavor, perfectly cooked vegetables and a chunky marinara sauce that is the best I have ever tasted. Make sure you use the fresh, crusty Italian bread that comes with your meal to enjoy this delicious sauce! This wonderful dining experience has definitely dispelled my lock-down, house-bound blues. It is so exciting to have a wonderful, delicious, elegant meal perpared perfectly by the gifted chefs at Charley Brown's. So, if you are tired of cooking and want a fantastic meal cooked for you check out the menu at Charley Brown's Restaurant in Penfield and order your favorite selection to go. It will brighten your palate and your day!More

Tonight my family went to Charley Brown's to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. What a wonderful take out meal we had! Corned Beef and Cabbage with carrots and potatoes that would have made St. Patrick himself dance a jig from sheer delight! In addition to salads...made to order, we each had VERY generous portions of cabbage, carrots, potatoes and, of course, corned beef. It was the best I have every tasted! I even have some left over that I will enjoy for lunch tomorrow. If you missed having dinner from Charley Brown's tonight, be sure to call and order your belated St. Patty's Day dinner. I am sure that the owners will have some left for you. In addition to the fantastic corned beef and cabbage, Charley Brown's has wonderful pasta dishes, vegetarian dishes such as their vegetarian lasagna (my personal favorite!), beef dishes, chicken dishes, and so on. Check out the web site and then give Charley Brown's a call to order lunch or dinner. I guarentee that a meal from Charley Brown's take out will brighten your day no matter the weather or how long you have had to maintain social distancing. A take out meal from Charley Brown's will make everyone feel happy!More

Last evening my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Charley Brown's. My husband had made reservations, and when we arrived the owner, and our host, showed us to our table - a quiet table for two. It was perfect! He had even prepared...a special order of our favorite risotto - basil and cheese. Our server, Sandy, was prompt and answered our questions about the specials of the evening, which were all good. I selected the salmon wrapped in prosciutto and my husband selected the Veal Saltimbocca. For starters we selected greens and beans (with a sauce made to be enjoyed with the fresh crusty bread served on the table) and the Whisky Scallops ( divinely delicious! )The scallops were amazing and the sauce and mushrooms mixed deliciously with the greens served with the dish. We savored our meals because each bite was fantastic! Sandy wasattentive, pleasant, and professional. She served our courses as we were ready for them and this made the meal even more enjoyable. This was truely one of the best anniversary dinners we have ever had! I should also mention that because we dined on a Saturday evening we were able to enjoy the music provided by the combo that plays on Saturday evenings. Just the right music, just the right tempo and just the right volume to make perfect background music as we enjoyed our meal. If you have a special occasion coming up (such as Valentine's Day) plan on making your reservation early. By the way, if you like risotto, order it when you make your reservation. This special order works well with starters as well as main meals. I am already looking forward to the next time we dine at Charley Brown's!More

Casual but rarely see jeans (but they are acceptable). We respect the owners (wonderful people!) so we always dress nicely. No baseball/golf hats.
