We were at Amaya today for lunch. It’s weekend so they had five different Thalia to choose from. We ordered poori ( which was deep fried but never puffed and full of oil, I believe it happens when the oil is not hot enough), paratha(...which was okay nothing mind blowing, you could hardly taste the filling, even deep’s frozen stuffed paratha is better ) and two non veg thaali. The chiken was under cooked and sweet with a generic tikka masala curry which was hard to distinguish from butter chiken. The biryani rice wasn’t cooked and seemed stale. The owner is very nice and kept asking how we’re things, which made it hard to say anything on his face. Also, the waitress seemed kind of lost and perhaps it’s because she was all by herself with no other help! Overall, wouldn’t Reccomended it to friends. Specially, if you know what real Indian food is like.More

Taken me 4 months to get round to reviewing this restaurant - but feel it should be recognized, even if a little late. Found this little gem of a restaurant while traveling in Rochester, NY. Totally exceeded our expectations. Extensive menu with traditional fare. Service...was excellent, and the chef prepared an extra spicy chicken vindaloo, according to British taste! Was expecting usual semi-hot meal, but this was wickedly spicy and tasty. . Chicken would have been better if breast meat, but was still tender. Vegetarian Indian food is always delicious and did not disappoint! Recommend this restaurant to families / friends who like something different and exotic.More

Third time here and just not nearly as impressive. Still ok; did they change ownership/management? Tried both off menu and buffet

Takeaways were excellent. We tried biryani with raita, mutton curry dal and rotis. Portions were adequate, tasty and well packed. Size of meat pieces were good and they were well cooked. Breakfast thalis were diverse and tasty.

The food was very tasty and thoughtfully presented. I also appreciated how professional the staff were and how beautiful the restaurant was. It was a wonderful treat to eat at this restaurant.

We went there on a Sunday and had their Thali and Chicken biryani, it was the tastiest Indian cuisine I’ve had in a long time! Coming from a guy who’s eaten quite a bit of Indian food, the chefs here really know what they are...doing. Their service was impeccable and staff were really nice. They took our orders quickly and quickly brought our food. Will be back again for more!More

Food was stellar, naan bread tasted great along with the saag paneer. Mango lassi was great as well, only thing that could be improved was the speed of service, other than that highly recommend this restaurant, favorite place to eat in Rochester.

Excellent option for Indian food including many speciality and vegetarian items. Central location in Brighton makes either pickup or dining in a good option. Prices are reasonable, and portion size is very good.

Called twice to make reservations but no answer, but went anyway. Food was delicious. service was good, price was acceptable. Sits in the corner of a shopping plaza so parking was easy. Many locals eat here.

The Food was really good and tasted authentic and flavorful. but what really sets them apart is the service. most Indian restaurants in States do okay on food but lack a good service level. this place on the other had has some of the best...serving staff i have dealt with. we were a party of 5 and our server Karan just blew us away with the level of professionalism, accommodation to various allergic needs as well as his knowledge about the food and Drink pairing. he was very nice and thoroughly explained all the dishes to my non Indian friends who were eating Indian food for the first time. even though he had other tables, he made sure he checked on us (and his other tables) regularly and refilled our drinks promptly. he really is a hardworking server and i hope that owners are aware that he is a definite keeper and an absolutely great employee. i hope that whenever i am back to Amaya i see him again and hopefully he is the one serving us again.More
