The entrance and parking lot is in the back, it seemed kind of dark at first , once your vision adjusts is not too bad. I was promptly seated. Appetizers : Fried Wonton were crispy and with a savory filling of meat. Spare Ribs(5) meaty...and succulent, the sauce salty. Entree: Sweet & Sour Combination(Chicken,Pork, Shrimp) was a generous meaty portion of golden pieces on a not so overpowering amount of sauce. Sapporo Beer and plenty of tea to accompany the meal. Service was efficiently performed by the only waiter for the whole place. I enjoyed my meal, and plenty to take home.More

When we saw Bamboo House was offering dine in service we had to try it. We were very glad that we did. The restaurant isn't fancy, but it's nice. The menu is fairly typical, but has a few unusual items we might try in the...future. It was not busy on a Wednesday night, and we were seated promptly. The service was excellent. Tea and crisp noodles were served right away with the customary duck sauce and mustard. (I took note of that because another restaurant we visited now charges for tea and does not bring mustard unless you ask.) The fresh spring rolls were excellent as a starter. My wife ordered her go-to chicken lo mien for her main dish, and was very pleased with it. I ordered the pork with garlic sauce. The food looked good, and it was spicy hot and delicious. Fried rice was served with the meal. The portions were generous and the prices were more than reasonable. This restaurant is some distance from where we live, but I think it is well worth the trip.More

There are plenty of Asian Fusion restaurants around and also similarly a ton of Chinese takeout places (who remembers Yangtze Kitchen in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY!), but as for solid old school Chinese restaurants they are getting harder and harder to find. While admittedly Bamboo House...is nothing to look at, don’t let the appearance fool you, we are talking about solid Chinese food with wonderful service. Need an exception or customization, they’ll do it! Some of our favorite dishes include: Moo Shi, Chicken with Broccoli and Chicken Noodle Soup. Sit back and enjoy!More

I loved my suated shredded chicken - awesome! My date asked about a specific menu item and got an answer - then found out it had a ton ( as in 2 full cups) of mushrooms which 1) she can't eat and 2) were no...where in the menu or owners description. He did say that NEXT time to tell him and they will make it anyway we want. So we WILL COME BACK I also feel bad for these smaller restaurants trying hard to get by and survive with a bad supply chain (I wanted Tsing Tao and they had none and only had 2 beers available and the owner did apologize for his service taking so long as he had to take care of all of the tables and can't find anyone to hire. I'm sure there's more to the story (wages level etc) but it sure is a hard way to survive and they DO have a good product. WE NEED TO PATRONIZE THESE SMALLER PLACES!More

Really good chineese food and large portions for the price. Service was excellent and flavors were excellent. Make sure you try the dried sauteed stringbeans

I have been eating here for several years and noticed lately things have changed. They us to give you soup when you got a take out order but not anymore. Last week I picked up 6 lunches for co-workers and myself and all of us...were shocked at how small the portions were. I will never return here to eat and get ripped off again.More

I visited here by myself this past weekend for lunch. The waitresses were very friendly, and took my order with speed. I asked for the Hot & Spicy Shrimp “extra, extra spicy.” They brought it out pretty quickly, and it tasted wonderful but not spicy....So they brought me some “hot pepper oil,” which still didn’t do the trick. So then, my waitress (who was trying to be accommodating), went back into the kitchen and brought me out a small dish of a finely chopped red pepper. I used the entire dish of it, but it did elevate the heat level to a sufficient degree. I thought the food was very good, although the bill ($20.00) was a bit high for one dish for lunch. Still, I would gladly go back again.More

Believe it or not, my doctor actually recommended this as his favorite Chinese restaurant. We weren't disappointed. The fried noodles are actually homemade, a rarity in this town. I had the lemon chicken, my wife ordered the pepper steak. Both were excellent. Our server was...prompt, friendly and efficient. We will definitely return!More

The chicken tasted undercooked and the meal was terrible. One bite and I tossed it in the garbage. I guess this teaches me not to wander away from Wong’s Kitchen. To top it all off it was over 30 mins later than stated.

I moved here from the San Francisco bay area and miss going to Clement St for really good Chinese food. You can have Buffalo style chicken wings, I love Chinese and their version is fabulous. Ordered the Sumgum Wonton Soup and it didn't disappoint. They...also have Thai and I can't wait to go back. Look at all the food!More

Like some restaurant in the area, there is an authentic Chinese menu featuring dishes that aren't your average chicken and broccoli. We get one of the traditional clay pot entrees and a few others, no complaints there. The restaurant provided the crispy fried noodles on...a previous visit, however this time we had to ask for them from the server. His reasoning was that those are more American style and aren't healthy. While sure they aren't healthy, but the waiter needs to mind his own business. This was also the reason we were given the authentic menu when seated.More

Next to Chef’s World on Monroe, a large window wall faces the street. The main door is in the rear of the building along with the parking. Inside you enter the full bar. At the end of the bar is the dining area. We were...seated in a booth behind the room with the window wall. The first thing I noticed was that a large number of the patrons were young people for whom Chinese food is simply referred to as food or perhaps real food. I knew we were in the right place for an authentic dinner. They have the standard selection for wines and beers. It is not a martini bar but you can get those fun drinks like a Mai Tai or a Zombie. Martinis are also available but fun is better. The dinner selection is extensive including Chinese, Thai and (I think, Vietnamese). There is also an “Authentic Chinese Menu” if you want to go for food that has been less Americanized. The portions were generous and very tasty. The flavor of the seared marinated pork in the Moo Shu Pork, was outstanding. The waitress said that you cannot make that flavor at home. The gravy on the Egg Foo Young was good enough to serve as a main dish over rice. (OK, you purists are saying these are not Chinese dishes! Right you are but I still know good Chinese food and sometimes I just want comfort food.) All the staff were very friendly. Several came by the table to tell us what a lovely granddaughter we had. We appreciate that. Finally the prices cannot be beat.More

Bamboo house has great food if you can tolerate the service. We've been there only once so far, our dishes which we ordered were taken back saying that they will get it in togo container and never got it back upon asking they replaced it...with some other food and argued that this is what we ordered and we should take it home. I think they are taking back what we ordered and replacing it with cheaper food.More

I go here about once a week for lunch and get take out for dinner every other week. I have never had a bad meal here and the portions are very large. The hot and sour soup is the best we ever had! All of...the dishes we have ordered are loaded with meat and we always get two meals our of it. We have never had an issue being waited on when we dine in and everyone is very friendly. I don't think some of the waiters speak a lot of English and this can come across as being unfriendly. The lunch specials are very reasonable, they come with soup and you get a lot of food.More
