This was my first visit to this gem in Rochester. I joined a friend for lunch. The wait was about 15 minutes and the waitress offered to get you a drink while you were waiting. Note: the seating area is in an area about 20 feet by 20 feet. It includes one long beer garden table and several smaller ones.... More

This is a meat market with an eating section a few days a week. My friends and I go there eat. It's an unusual place in that you go in, wait in line and when a seat or seats open up you grab the seats. You end up sitting at a long table with people you'be never met but who... More

I was fortunate enough to be invited by a friend to have lunch. I have since recommended it to so many people. If you are in Rochester for a weekend or a lifetime and have not been to Swans, you have missed something special. The upside is they are open Wednesday-sat for lunch. So go sit down order a stine... I don't care for crowds, but I will put up with them to get EXCELLENT food! Every time we have gone to Swan's it is packed, and with good reason. I have never had anything I didn't really enjoy and want more of! Their German dishes are as good if not better than my grandmother's and I will return as... More

If you enjoy German food, products or feeling nostalgic of what your omas kitchen smelled like growing up...Swans is the spot. I go for lunch or to pick up meats and cheeses and never disappointed. Great spot!

If you are looking for an intimate table for (2), this is not your place. If you are looking to experience a bit of Germany, great German cooking, great hospitality, German beer from Germany by the glass, or pitcher, in a casual German atmosphere, rubbing elbows with other diners, then you are at the right place. The food is amazing,... More

I wasn't sure what to expect. We got there early and were able to get a table right away. I was surprised by the communal seating but it turned out to be a great experience. The food was delicious and we will definitely go back. Truly an amaxing German experience. Tip: Go early or expect that you may wait a... More

Small place but truly authentic & FRIENDLY & DELICIOUS!!!!! Only a few tables so you sit where ever, we were lucky enough to sit with a man who has his picture on the wall. Come to find out he was the previous owner. He shared his food with us & his stories!!! What a FANTASTIC time!!!!

When we go to Swan's for lunch, we always go on a Saturday, usually after going to the nearby Public Market. Unless you want to wait in line for a while, you have to get there early, around 11-11:30 a.m. Much later and the line will be snaking out the door. At least if you do have to wait, there... More

This is absolutely the best place for that Octoberfest meal. Mind you most people don't eat German food but the sausages etc in Sept/Oct but Swans is the best. Being half German and having a grandma from Germany I should know.

Description
All meat at Swan Market is hand-cut, all sausage hand-made by owner Barry Fischer, who apprenticed with German master butchers to bring you a taste of Germany that's authentic down to the last detail.

Swan's renowned German lunches are served Wednesday through Saturday from 11 to 2. Grab a seat at one of the communal tables and hoist a glass of imported German beer. It's impossible to go away hungry! There's also live German music on the last Thursday and Friday of each month.

Wan can also cater events of any size, with anything from cold-cut trays to a full pig roast.
