Tried the Jager Schnitzel with potato salad and noodles ($8.50) and a 16 oz Spatan ($4.00). Excellent food and I was stuffed!!! Reminded me of my mothers cooking. The owner was sitting in his corner making small talk with the patrons….a very nice gentleman. Don't waste your money at the fast food joints…..enjoy some authentic German cooking at a very... More

Went to lunch here with some friends who suggested it. Never having been and not a huge fan of German food (or so I thought), I was hesitant. Our waitress suggested I get the sampler platter so I did. The pork cutlet with gravy was amazing as was the potato salad. Everything else on the plate was very appetizing also.... More

From the minute you step in the door way, the smell of German food and fresh German meats and sausages delights your senses. OMG, this place is a throwback to the olde country with beers, sausage, bologna, the whole shebang. My family grew up on food from Germany and Swans is the real deal. Anyone and everyone with a German... More

This is truly the only old fashioned German Sausage Butcher shop left in Rochester, NY. The sausages are well made with quality ingredients. i wish they would make a vegetarian version since I have been vegetarian for over 3 years. As a German, I miss the wonderful sausages and cold cuts. You can also eat there, Beautiful german breads, mustards, deserts... More

I've had brunch at Swans German restaurant and deli over the years on many occasions and usually ordered the sausage platter with sauerkraut and spaetzla with gravy. It was always great. Yesterday Swans catered our K of C meeting and it included all of the above with roladin, sliced pork and stuffing and german potato salad. Everything was tasty and... More

If you love German food or hearty fare, this is the place for you! My first time being there makes me think of a European tavern. Very small with limited seating. Gingham tablecloths and waitresses serving steaming platters with pitchers of beer. Excellent sides and plates of different prepared meats. You can buy meats and sides to take home from... More

The last Thursday and Friday of the month is a riot. Live music community tables plenty of beer and good times. If you live here or just visiting, give swans market a chance

Excellent!! Visiting Rochester for the weekend and ALMOST didn't stop in at this tiny place, but the reviews were outstanding so we went for it. SO glad we did!! The two of us split the sampler because we couldn't decide and DEVOURED THE schnitzel, red cabbage, and goulash -- AMAZING!!! We were still hungry so decided on a full order... More

First time here. I don't eat beef. Had the schnitzel. Was very very good. Sauce on top was tasty as well. Excited to try all the sausages next time. Will be back. Cheers

Everything from sharing a table with the strangers next to you, to the steins of beer and the food - this place is authentic! I dream about the goulash with potato salad and German noodles. Be prepared to wait for a table, but the wait is so worth it...and isn't too bad when you have a stein to drink. Prost!

Description
All meat at Swan Market is hand-cut, all sausage hand-made by owner Barry Fischer, who apprenticed with German master butchers to bring you a taste of Germany that's authentic down to the last detail.

Swan's renowned German lunches are served Wednesday through Saturday from 11 to 2. Grab a seat at one of the communal tables and hoist a glass of imported German beer. It's impossible to go away hungry! There's also live German music on the last Thursday and Friday of each month.

Wan can also cater events of any size, with anything from cold-cut trays to a full pig roast.
