Vegan and Vegetarian options, Riverside dining

This is a great place for a mixed group of omnivores and vegetarian/vegans. You are guaranteed to find an interesting choice and generous portions. We vegetarians ordered from the soup, salad and appetizer menu and had red lentil soup, white bean salad and a platter of Mediterranean goodies like lentil salad, eggplant, hummus, carrot salad, tabouli etc and a plate of flat bread: all that was large enough to share. There are also veggie kebabs and veggies hash on the menu, plus Turkish coffee, mint tea and desserts. Friendly service and reasonable prices on the Riverwalk , a scenic location. Highly recommended.

Family and friends lets eat

If you want to feel like one of the family here is the place for you. Good home cooking that is made with TLC welcome. Every dish better than the one before. This is the place to sit back have a drink enjoy the atmosphere, service, scenery, and most of all the food. The distinct flavors and taste made each bite a party in my mouth. Even the picky eaters waled away more than satisfied.

On a 90° day, a wonderful choice is to go to the Riverwalk in Riverhead. Turkuaz is a lovely Turkish restaurant with picnic tables shaded by trees and umbrellas. We never felt the heat. There was always a delightful breeze. And the food was excellent. We had salmon, chicken, and doner kabob with salad, cole slaw beets and rice. The chicken was tender and the salmon was prepared perfectly with delicious spices. The outdoor restaurant has a view of the river and is decorated with mini flowers. It made for a delightful afternoon.

No Frills goodness

Turkuaz is an interesting place with some excellent Turkish cuisine. Perhaps due to Covid, everything is served on disposable plastic plates with plastic utensils and cups. Other than that, the food is very good. My Donar Gyro plate was excellent and I finished it off with a very good Bakalva. This appears to be a family joint with Dad, brother and sister equally serving up food and drink. Dad is quiet if not grumpy, but I would not hold it against Turkuaz. The food is Legit.!

Hidden delight

The first time we visited we drove by it, as there is no signage, but once found it is easy to park and being right next to the Peconic River the views are delightful. Seating was outside at well distanced tables and all protocols are in place for safe dining. This is the place for Mediteranian food and there offerings are extensive. We've had their appetizer platter, various kebabs and salads all which are well prepared, presented and absolutely delicious. Hopefully as the weather cools they will allow inside dining.

Absolutely wonderful!

Visiting New York from Trinidad and Tobago, in the Caribbean and a family member told us about Turkuaz Grill. I absolutely loved everything about this restaurant! The view of the river is wonderful, the ambiance of the restaurant is very homely, the staff is very friendly and the food is absolutely delicious! I loved the lamb and the rice pudding was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Thank you Turkuaz Grill, I will definitely be returning on my next visit to New York. 🙂🇹🇹

A Little Gem in Downtown Riverhead

I regret to say that we have been told over and over how great Turkuaz Grill is, but wwe had never dined there. One recent rainy night, our friends cancelled on us and so we decided to give this Turkish restaurant a try. Oh my! how delightful the family that runs it is!! They welcome you into their place like you are guests in their home. They guided us on what to order and saw to it that we had everything we needed from drinks, to bread, to water. We started off by splitting an order of Babaganous and a Chickpea salad. Then onto entrees of Adana Kebab and Spicy Betyi Kebab. Both were flavorful and delicious. The menu is long, but our waiter helped us make great choices. Did I say that we tried some different, but good Turkish wine. Dessert was pages long and we were so full, but he suggested we order something to take home and we did. While we waited for dessert our waiter made us some fresh coffee to take out the chill of the night. We really enjoyed our night at Turkuaz and will be back many times I am certain.

If you never tried Turkish Cuisine you are in for a real treat!

If you have never have authentic Turkish cuisine, you are in for an absolute treat. Turkuaz Grill is the real deal. I have lived in the Middle East for six years and eaten in many authentic Turkish restaurants. If you are new to Turkish cuisine, I would highly recommend the Mixed Kabab. It will help you choose what you want to have the next time you come back. Oh, you will be back. The service is friendly and extremely helpful. The food is excellently prepared and incredibly well seasoned. The pricing is moderate.

Enjoyed the Food, Enjoy the Banter with the Owner

Coming from a day of shopping at the Tangiers Riverside Outlet Mall, this is a restaurant one should try out. Food was very delicious and we had the opportunity to engage the owner in a wonderful humorous banter as he took our orders - be sure to ask for him to take your order! His wit and humor will liven you up after a tiring day of shopping at the outlet mall! I had the lemon chicken soup. We had the hummus, babaganoush and fried liver as appetizers. All passing with flying colors! Lamb chops (as recommended) were my chosen entree and I definitely enjoyed it. We had the grilled branzini fish, calamari, adana kebab and doner/lamb chop combo. The whole group was delighted with their orders. I topped off my meal with a shared kunefe desert and turkish coffee - just perfect. Service was great but be sure to ask for the owner to guide you with the recommended dishes! You’re going to love the experience!

On a recent visit to the Riverhead area, I had lunch with a college buddy. I picked Turkuaz because of its excellent ratings and because my friend and I had both been to Turkey numerous times. My Doner Platter was excellent. To my great surprise, I was having dinner with another group of friends that same evening they also wanted to go to Turkuaz. No problem, I had scrumptious lamb chops with a very nice Sauvignon Blanc. Everything was so good that I would have been happy to also go back the next day.

Beautiful location and mediocre food.

Food was mediocre. Falafel was over cooked and practically needed a chain saw to be cut. The couple who ordered meat were satisfied. Vegetables were skimpy and overdone. Location is beautiful, chairs and tables are uncomfortable. I would actually give it 3.5 stars, but don’t agree with 4.5 stars that Trip Advisor rating.

Authentic Mediterranean cuisine

We were staying at the Hyatt Regency at Riverhead and needed a delicious but quick bite after we checked out. This place is tucked away around the corner and facing the river. We ate al fresco and ordered a few things to share including the cold meze platter; definitely recommend. The spicy mashed vegetables were the best of the sample. We enjoyed the chicken and falafel combo as well. Good service and neighborhood vibe.

Very good food by the river

Went to the Turkuaz Grill Thursday night for dinner before going to a concert at The Suffolk Theatre. The staff was friendly and efficient and the food was very good. The patio out back by the river was a nice place to dine. Recommend.

Delicious!

My son and I came here for dinner during a baseball tournament and ended up returning 3 nights in a row. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, the service is very friendly, and they happily modified dishes to suit my son’s picky habits.
