My wife and I, our two sons and my sister in law and her son stopped in for an early dinner. The restaurant was empty with the exception of us. The service was attentive, although I could have dealt without the owner(?) loudly expounding on...all topics as if he were an expert in all things to his crew and to a friend who was there. Because if there was one thing that the restaurant WASN'T expert in, it was the making of a panini. Both my wife and sister in law ordered paninis. Neither of them were particularly satisfied with the results. After taking the leftovers home, I realized the problem. The Cubano that my wife ordered had ham, turkey and bacon and the bacon literally looked uncooked. It was if they had put the ham and turkey on and then added an uncooked piece of bacon and then pressed the whole thing for maybe 3 minutes. However long it was, it wasn't long enough to even melt the cheese, much less cook the bacon. My sister in law, meanwhile, ordered a Venetian. She special ordered it without meat and what she got was, essentially, a caprese salad on toast. The cheese was still cold inside. The rest of us were generally satisfied with the quality of our meals, but almost raw bacon is truly a dealbreaker. My suggestion is that if you must get a panini, get one without meat and ask them to cook it 2 or 3 times.More

I was in Rhinebeck for the Sinterklaas festivities and stopped for an early lunch at Pete's Famous since I knew it would be a busy day and the restaurant is always busy on this day. I needed something filling for lunch since it would be...awhile until I ate again so I ordered a triple decker sandwich with fries. I wanted something different so I ordered the chicken salad version and it was delicious. The chicken salad is freshly made at the restaurant and it was layered into the sandwich. It was accompanied by a large amount of fresh fried French Fries. The food and the service were wonderful and I love eating here when I am in the area.More

Good breakfast. Had the famous omelet. Decent size. Came with hash browns and rye toast. It was all good! Friendly waitress.

I love coming to Pete's Famous Restaurant when I eat in Rhinebeck. The portions are always very fair, the service is always friendly and welcoming, and the food is excellent. I love their Hot Turkey Platter. I started with the Chicken Rice Soup which was...a nice size cup of soup loaded with chunks of breast chicken and cooked rice. It was rich and flavorful. When the Turkey platter came out, it could have fed two people. The freshly cooked turkey breast was loaded on white bread and topped with turkey gravy. the mashed potatoes were soft, creamy and buttery and topped with more gravy. It was served with fresh string beans and cranberry sauce. It was a lot, and I could barely finish it. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The service is so friendly that you feel like you are visiting a friend's house.More

I stopped in at Pete's Famous during the very busy Sinterklaas Parade Day and lunch at an off time, so the restaurant was not as busy. It must have been a long day for the staff there, but everyone was so friendly it was not...even a problem. I had my usual Turkey Club sandwich, and it was just excellent. The turkey breast was so nicely cooked and it really made the sandwich. The French fries were freshly cooked and well salted. The whole meal was delicious and very filling especially as this was lunch and dinner for me. The service here is consistently friendly and welcoming.More

I love diners..but Pete's disappoints. Coffee was weak. Grits were watery snd tasteless. Bacon was flabby. The pancake was good, I admit, but the syrup isn't maple. Cross the street to Bread Alone and enjoy great coffee and lovely pastries.

Pete's is popular for a reason. The staff clearly love working there and being together. There is a camaraderie among them that is conveyed to guests and that adds to one's feeling of comfort and welcome. We were there for brunch and our vegetable panini,...pancakes and eggs were all delicious.More

This is your typical local restaurant with plenty of food and efficient and friendly service. We stopped for dinner and tried several of the appetizers. Came back for breakfast the next morning and had eggs benedict and french toast. The prices were pocket book friendly...and we got in and out in no time.More

A decent place for breakfast. The food is reasonably good. The service is excellent. The menu is varied and mostly good although I would definitely pass on the fruit salad which is not fully fresh with at least some canned fruit (pineapple for sure). Nothing...that particularly stands out as special but a comfortable place to sit and have a full breakfast.More

The prices are reasonable and there's a lot of good menu options. The food is average but it's worth checking out if you're in the area. The atmosphere for dining in feels very homey and gives you the small town charm of Rhinebeck.

Very nice. Just a pretty straightforward breakfast, but there was a little twist in that one of the meat options was pastrami or corned beef (you could also get the usual options of ham or sausage). The breakfast potatoes could have been a little crispier...(they were pretty mushy) but I still enjoyed them. Service was good. Outdoor seating was sufficiently spaced out for covid conditions.More

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, restaurants in Downtown Rhinebeck have gotten creative with dining and since the weather has gotten nicer, all the restaurants have adapted to outdoor dining outside the restaurants. It is very clever and also very nice to eat outside on a...sunny afternoon. The service as usual was very pleasant and friendly and very attentive. The town of Rhinebeck was really busy and people filled the tables of all the restaurants, this one included. There was lively conversations all over the place with families walking around while others were eating. It was nice to sit outside under a umbrella and enjoy the meal. I had a wonderful and very large Turkey Club sandwich loaded with freshly sliced turkey, fresh lettuce and tomato on white toasted bread with pile of freshly fried French fries. The meal was wonderful and filling on a hot day. The waitress kept bringing free refills of soda which was very nice. It was a very pleasurable experience and I highly recommend a trip to Downtown Rhinebeck NY for lunch or dinner.More
