Good food at a good price. The London broil, chowder, mashed potatoes hit the spot and was very good. They indicated that it has been in business since 1860 so thats the oldest restaurant I have been to.

Every time we visit Rhinebeck we make room in our schedule to eat at Foster's. We always order the house special, the London broil. Somehow, every time it gets better. This is not the best cut of meat, and yet the chefs over the years...More

As a long-time Rhinebeck resident, Foster's was always the place for inexpensive family dining along with great service! It was also known for it's rustic decor, featuring horse and stable fixtures, booths and wall decorations. A few years back, Foster's underwent a change for the...More

Foster's has been in operation since 1890 but its food is certainly current. When you walk in the door, it brings you back to days past when it was a thriving tavern. The food is good. I especially enjoy the traditional onion soup. My husband...More

Walked in looked at the menu and walked out. Seriously awful. It could ruin a relationship. Don’t bring anyone you like. However if you’ve driven 100 miles with screaming kids in you car and you are about to loose your mind ,if you don’t get...More

I have not eaten in this establishment in several years, but still very good. Like stepping back in time as this place has been around since I was a kid. Wondering the streets of Rhinbeck on the first nice day of spring. Sun was shining...More

To start with service was terrible. Server finally came around to fill our drinks when we were finished with the meal. The meal itself was only warm and taste left a lot to be desired. Will definitely not be returning for dinner, however might try...More

Has been there forever. Recently restored and refurbished by new owners. Classic menu with steaks, chops, Italian food, etc. Something for everyone. The Manhattan Clam Chowder was one of the best examples I have had. The antique horse memorabilia is really cool.

When I grew up here, and we were going to go out to dinner, our choices were far fewer than they are today. It was basically "the hotel," or Foster's. And while the Beekman Arms had the cache, I'd vote for Foster's any day, then...More
