Disappointed With their New Menu

Forster's Tavern has been one of my family's favorite Hudson Valley restaurants for the last 20 years. We have always enjoyed eating there and one of the attractions was ordering our favorite dishes from the menu. Thank you for your comments. We are so pleased that you have been a loyal patron for 20 years. Yes, we agree that our London Broil is tops! We apologize for your feelings about the shrimp and will strive to perfect that great item, as well. As for the step in the ladies bathroom, it is a structural issue and... More

We arrived in Rhinebeck in the evening and wanted to stop for food before going to our hotel. We weren't dressed for a fancy restaurant (and Rhinebeck has a lot of awesome looking places, but most are a bit dressy), so we saw the Foster's sign and it looked perfect for what we needed. I noted that on a Friday... More

We are so glad that you chose Foster's Coach House for your "welcome to Rhinebeck" dinner. Our casual atmosphere and location make that a fairly regular decision for arriving visitors. You are right that January can be a bit slower than the rest of the year, but thanks to our loyal local clientele, we usually have a pretty lively crowd.... More

First visit here was 40 years ago, when it was a typical rural tap house restaurant with better than average, consistent quality food and very reasonable prices. A couple of years ago, the owner passed away and heirs 'renovated' a successful establishment. Food became a bit more expensive, menu changed but it was passable. This past year it was renovated... Foster's Coach House has the best burgers in town...Black Angus! Chargrilled, thick and juicy. Also, we have a daily burger special. We are so pleased to offer these to our guests because they keep coming back. As for prices, we are certainly still the best deal in town for the quality we offer. Of course, prices have risen over the... More

Maybe it's because we had been going to Fosters for more than 40 years... Maybe it's because the menu, prices, staff, service, quality of food and decor were great and really didn't need changing... Maybe we're resistant to change... but....in comparing the menu, the prices, the staff, service, food quality and decor to the previous owners...Rhinebeck has lost a successful... More

Expect a typical pub with typical pub food & u will not b disappointed. No atmosphere -unless u like a bar/pub. The food & pricing are ok & the service matches the rest. It is actually good for families - no worries about the kids making noise.

They were closed for an extended renovation, but it doesn't really show now that they've reopened. Worse, the menu is now even more limited. This is a really basic, family style kind of place so don't go with any high expectations. If you're really hungry, it will do.

Stopped in this afternoon. This place was closed for a little while and has now reopened. Sat in the bar area and appreciated the deep cushions on the barstools! My husband ordered the London Broil Sandwich on French Bread. It was delicious! Melt in your mouth beef with swiss cheese and onions and the French bread was fantastic. I ordered... More

Saturday night at nine pm after seeing a movie in next town , my husband, daughter, son in law and I decided to stop at Fosters for burgers and to experience, firsthand, the new renovations. The bar was full and noisy, which is typical of this local hangout where we have been going to for 39 years . The paneling... More
