We were looking forward to a favorite Restaurant reopening but were extremely disappointed. Not only did the menu change for the worse, the prices went up, the place felt shabby and worse, the food was not good at all. I had brisket that was not only flavorless, it was rubbery and under cooked. All of the food was lacking. Mostly... More

This restaurant always seems to have a full parking lot and after eating here I understand why. It's not cheap eating but it's not expensive either. Service is good and the food is too. If you're in the mood for BBQ (and it seems like a lot of people are) this is the place to go in Red Hook.

Went there on fathers day and where promptly seated. Party of 10 and we were greeted by our waitress and drinks came out fairly quickly. Food order took a while but it was worth the wait. Everyone enjoyed their food from 1/2 chicken, to the pulled pork to the ribs to the burgers. There was a nice mix at the... More

Great service and nice selection for the bbq lover. I enjoyed the bar selection (not just beer) as well!

The food, the service, the ambiance are comforting. You feel the warmth, the relaxing hush of conversation, of waiters in efficient motion, the scent of well prepared cuisine. Young folks offer theirs services hoping to enhance your culinary event. The offerings are barbecued specialties, Southern dishes and a variety of desserts. Prices are reasonable and portions are ample.

Recent visit on a busy October sat night, short wait for table, attentive waitress. Dry rubbed ribs were tender, meaty, full of flavor. Not stewed fall off the bone type. Though, I do dip in some of their sauce on the table. Garlic mashed potatoes and collard greens are great sides. If you like greens, get them here they taste... More

One may always count on delicious food at Max's. The pulled pork has just the right amount of spice and the garlic mashed potatoes are excellent. The cornbread is so good that you will definitely want to ask for more. Salad with a yummy house dressing is also served with each meal. The portions are very generous! My husband ordered... More

My husband and I were visiting family for the weekend who live in Red Hook. Three ordered the Beef Brisket, Slow Smoked, with a Horseradish Dipping Sauce. The brisket was very fatty! The other 2 family members ordered Max’s Half Chicken, Brined and Slow Smoked. I think they forgot the chicken in the oven definitely overcooked. Adding insult to injury... More
