We almost didn't go in because of the borderline crappy area the restaurant sits in - but I'm glad we kept our reservation! Excellent oysters (though some of the gnarly bits were still in some of them), enjoyed some Hudson Valley duck, some delicious 20-year-old tawny port, and the most amazing cheesecake.

I have been to the restaurant twice. The first time, a few years ago, it was pretty good. We had a small group of 3 and it was a decent meal with decent service. The second time we went it was pretty bad. We had a large group of 8 and the service was horrible. The entrees were brought out... More

We made a reservation on line - fast and easy! On arrival we were greeted warmly, offered our choice of booth or table and escorted to a comfortable booth immediately. Menus were presented, water poured , drinks were offered, and then "tonight's specials presented and explained. My wife selected the trout, my daughter the duck and I the crab pasta... More

Looking for a Tuesday lunch spot in Poughkeepsie we decided to try the Brasserie. We loved the Parisian Brasserie interior and had high hopes for this restaurant. The staff were a little slow in taking our order. The "French" ham sandwich was anything but and quite a disappointment. The onion soup was fine. Other guests were similarly unimpressed. If only... Had a fabulous brunch at Brasserie 292 this past weekend. With so many great choices, it was hard to narrow it down, but in the end I went with the chicken and waffles and it did not disappoint. A lovely mix of savory and sweet, I enjoyed every bite and all the folks I was dining with were impressed by... More

This was my first time eating at 292 and I was not disappointed. The server was very knowledgable and definitely entertaining. The menu is very eclectic and it was the first time that I tried chicken and waffles. I have to say the chicken was perfect and the waffles where crisp. I'm now a big fan of the dish and... More

Went here for a special occasion on someone else's recommendation. First of all, you're practically sharing conversations with the folks at the nearby table because they're so close together. The menu was very limited and rigid. Absolutely no substituting. You had to order whatever the chef was preparing. There was not much of a satisfying the customer attitude here. And... More

My wife and I had lunch at Brasserie 292 yesterday, prior to attending our daughters graduation. Because my wife is lactose intolerant, I called early to ensure that she could enjoy her meal. When we arrived, the waiter (I wish I could remember his name) remembered my call and had a variety of suggestions for her. We ordered and the... More

Since I was unable to book a table at the Culinary Institute, I was looking for a memorable alternative, and I found one! The service, the atmosphere, and the quality of the food was worthy of another visit, and even if I were able to get into the CIA, would still make a point of visiting Brasserie 292.
