The Best and most authentic Italian food we've had in years!

From the time you walk in the door you will experience the best of Italian hospitality and food. The eggplant parmesan was the best I have had since my grandmother made it years ago! The gnocchi (in 3 sauces to mirror the flag of Italy) was tender and delicious. We had the puffy bread which delighted the table. This is a gem in Port Washington and we cannot wait to go back!

Wonderful place! Warm, welcome from the owner makes you feel like family. Excellent appetizers, mains, wine and desert

We were searching all around the area (Great Neck, Manhasset, Roslyn, Port Washington) for a place to hold a small family Holiday dinner for 7 to 8 people. The one place that stood out to me was DiMaggio's Trattoria and the friendly welcome I received from the owner when I inquired via email about hosting us. He made us feel like family! Our party came from the Jersey Shore, Cape Cod and Nassau County. We negotiated amongst ourselves as to the place to choose and we went with DiMaggio's. What a great find! Six of us arrived at 1 o'clock, which is what our reservations was for. (The seventh was only an hour late and greeted with the same bonhomie as the rest of us.) The bread, wine and appetizers got us going and the mains and deserts were great! Don't miss this place. It was worth the trip for its color, style and friendliness.

Shhhhh! An even better kept secret!!

It’s hard to believe that I’m not here every night because the food and atmosphere are so incredible that I’d certainly like to be! When my husband and I first happened upon DiMaggio’s Trattoria, I was certain that I had discovered North Shore’s best kept secret. But now I realize that I didn’t know the half of it! Saturday afternoon lunch is the perfect time to pay a visit! Fabulous food, such fresh sole and tasty escarole!! You can’t find two more perfect hosts in Eddie and Angelo! From start to finish, the food is just delicious!! (Shhh. Don’t tell anyone about the Saturday lunch! It’ll be our secret!)

Cleared table while still eating.

Great food, rude service. We had a reservation for 5:30. When the first people in our reservation arrived, they were told we needed to vacate the table by 7:30. This was not going to be a problem for us. We had one person who had to work and was showing up later. We all ordered our meal and started eating before the "late comer" arrived. The waiter and (I guess) the host kept asking if the other diner was still coming. At about 6:50, while we were still eating, they started clearing the table. I told the person clearing the table that we were still waiting for someone and to keep the bread and his place setting where they were. She had an attititude and still took them. When our "late comer" arrived, he already knew what he wanted and actually ordered before he sat down. His meal arrived quickly (less the bread he had to ask for twice). While he was eating and some of us were having coffee, again they started clearing the table. We actually finished by about 7:15.

Dinner for wedding friends was excellent

Eddie and Angelo were kind enough to host a per wedding party for us on a busy Saturday night. They carefully chose an abundance of appetizers for us and everyone ordered off the menu. A dessert sampling followed dinner. Everyone raved about the entire evening. The staff handled the group with outstanding service. I recommend this fine establishment to everyone

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!

Eddie and the staff (including his son) blew our minds tonight. This restaurant is exactly how ALL restaurants need to cook and treat visitors. We came all the way from Virginia and this was worth the drive! Grab some of Eddy’s sauce to go too! The Oreo ice cream cake and chicken parmigiana was excellent.

I heard about this restaurant from a TV personality who loves the chocolate cake made by the owners wife's recipe. My wife really enjoys chocolate cake so I decided to surprise her by taking her. It was raining when we arrived and as we walked in a gentleman greeted us and told us to sit anywhere. We found a table for two and the gentleman introduced himself as Ed and made us feel very welcome and comfortable, he suggested some appetizers which we tried and really enjoyed, the young lady at his table suggested several different entrees that she liked and we tried them, the meals were prepared well and presented well, our waiter was courteous and professional which added to our wonderful experience. The meals were delicious and Ed sent out some additional tastings for us which were also delicious. Then Ed sent out the chocolate cake dessert which my wife truly loved, while eating our dessert, Ed introduced us to his restaurant partner Angelo, who also was a very friendly and warm person. Angelo took us on a tour of the restaurant which added to our very special event. My wife and I had wonderful time and meal thank you Ed and Angelo we will definitely be back. I highly recommend this restaurant.

DiMaggio’s is our “go to” Italian Restaurant on Long Island!

Owners Angelo and Eddie have been serving fine Italian food at DiMaggio’s (Port Washington) for over 40 years. The owners and staff aim to please: if its not on the menu, just ask. The back room is reminiscent of a piazza in Italy. There is always multiple daily specials along with the regular menu. My favorite meals are Lasagna D’ella Nonna and Chicken Parmigiana. Pasta any style with about twelve different gravies to choose from give everyone something they’ll like. Desserts are plentiful, Tortoni is my favorite. Reservations for 6 or more otherwise it’s first come first served. If you want great Italian food served in a relaxed atmosphere by a friendly, competent staff DiMaggio’s is the place for you.

It Doesn’t Get any Better Than DiMaggios!

It was our first time here and it was as if we were reuniting with family and friends that we’ve known for years. The atmosphere was unparalleled to any other establishment we’ve ever been! Eddie and Angelo - the owners - made sure our experience was nothing but perfect. The food was phenomenal! My husband had the pork chops - « One of the best I’ve ever had! » and my blackened halibut was excellent! The desserts: pistachio tartufo and the best chocolate cake ever! Service, atmosphere and food were all beyond excellent! We can’t wait to return!

An amazing location for any meal!!

We went here for a funeral luncheon as this is a short drive from the Nassau Knolls Cemetery but I would go here any time in the area as the food was that good. I couldn't pick one thing as EVERYTHING was amazing. You definitely don't need a reason to stop here for a meal. Thanks so much for the experience.

We are wondering why DiMaggios of Port Washington had such a high rating

The quality of the food does not warrant the prices that are charged on the menu. Instead of being seated at a table in the front with other couples were seated ( they take no reservations) where it was not only quiet and many tables were available they led us to the back where several large parties with huge amounts of noise and children running around.

Thank you for your comments. In regards to the prices, these are the times we are all living in. Prices and cost of goods is ever evolving unfortunately. But I assure you that our quality is, although you may disagree, evident in every dish we’ve ever served over the last 45 years. As far as where you were seated, we would have been happy to seat you anywhere in the restaurant. Both dining rooms are used equally and if you find that table not to your liking you simply have to use your words to express it. We are there to accommodate you and make the experience the best we can. Thank you.

This is not my first review of DiMaggio’s, but it’s such a fabulous hidden gem in an area with so many great restaurants, that it shouldn’t be overlooked! This was the first time I brought my dad and brother to DiMaggios, and it was fun to see it all over again - for the first time- through their eyes! This was also the first time that we sat in the back dining room. It truly feels as if you’re sitting at a little trattoria in Italy! The paintings and decor of this room add so much, but the food and warmth of the owners are the huge draw! Truly phenomenal food! Everything I have ever eaten here (as well as my dinner guests) have always been amazing! I won’t bother suggesting dishes we ordered, because honestly, everything is fabulous! Eddie, Angelo and their staff have created a welcoming atmosphere where the customers are made to feel like family and the food is so good that you can’t wait to return!!

Fantastic fair served with that familiar family feel

You could feel it the minute you stepped off the curb, under the awning and into this warm, cozy eatery. Co- owners Eddy and Angelo were at the helm, Eddy, arms outstretched to provide the friendly greeting, and Angelo behind the counter, apron on, to personally ensure that our culinary experience would be memorable. They had us at hello We were shown to a centrally located table with a view out the window which wasn’t half as captivating as they beautifully painted mural painted around the dining room walls courtesy of Eddy‘s wife. As lovely as the room was, there was a private high- ceilinged room just down the hall that took my breath away; this space re-created an open air Italian side street trattoria, detailed to perfection. Gorgeous! We were first treated to a basket of warm, freshly baked Italian rolls—One by the short us that we had chosen our lunch venue wisely. And it only got better from there. I was very happy to receive the most tender, melt – in– your - mouth eggplant rollatini I have ever had, and I have had many. The eggplant was thinly sliced yet thick enough to provide the flavor, and although there was a touch of breading to help hold the creamy ricotta within, it was slight enough so as not to detract. And when I say it melted on my tongue, I mean melted. I finished my large serving to bursting simply because I couldn’t leave any behind. The rest of my crew dove into well proportioned plates of pasta with a variety of sauces— satisfied attention to the flavors was evidenced by a distinct lull in conversation during our visit once plates were placed. Very little was left behind, and there was no room for dessert. Our newfound friends treated us with a complementary glass Limoncello, capping off our experience perfectly. On my way out the door, I purchased a large jar of the establishments homemade tomato sauce to enjoy at home, not surprised in the least that this establishment has been satisfying appetites for over 45 years. Our entire group felt extremely lucky to have made DiMaggios acquaintance.
