I don’t eat any seafood! We’ve been there a few time my wife and son love the baked clams also the fried clam strips, they had fish and chips. All were great . For myself the hamburger was good also ! Only thing I wish is that they would redo their bathrooms . Pretty nasty. Clean sort of but hard to appreciate.

Joe, the host, was so kind.

Our friends, my husband and I, had an early dinner here. Joe, the host, sat us immediately. He and the others were extremely attentive. Joe was very kind. The food was delicious. Better than I remember. Unfortunately, they weren’t social distancing inside ( although the sliding doors were open). Both tables next to us were very close and none of us were wearing masks. SELF SERVE CONDIMENTS? What happened to CDC regulations.

Excellent clam chowder and lobster roll. Service was great and views were outstanding. The menu was very expansive and pricing was reasonable for what we have seen so far.

Covid-19 violations

Stay away from the Steam Room in Port Jefferson. My first visit to a restaurant since Covid.What a petri dish. Food servers without gloves. Seating does Not social distance. Patrons wander around the restaurant without masks. Self serve condiment bar where unmasked ungloved people handle lemons, water. How is this allowed. I was very uncomfortable. When I pointed out to the "manager" an unmasked person on the food line and an unmasked patron at the condiment bar he shrugged his shoulders. Should call the health department. Too many Covid-19 violations. Disgusted. This is why we will have a resurgence of covid.

OWNER RUDE AND RACIST

George Wallace the owner of the restaurant was very RUDE and RACIST. I ordered the lobster deluxe and calamari. Before I had my first bite I found hair on the lobster roll and in the calamari dipping sauce. When I went up to the cashier to see if they could give me a new meal, the white owner grabbed my plate and yelled at me. He told me “this place isn’t for people like you” then proceeded to tell me he won’t give me a new meal. He ended up giving me a refund of $25 when my meal cost $32. I was extremely disappointed. My fiancé ordered the fish and chips and he was extremely disappointed by the quality of it. He left with a stomachache because it was so greasy. The food and service was extremely disappointing.

We got sick

2 of my friends got sick eating here. When we told another friend, who had a son who worked there, she told us the cook staff doesn't wear gloves, and The owner and manager are horrible to the staff, which are predominantly kids. I'd rather eat a dirty water dog from the city. Both my friends had no other reason to suddenly become ill. I'd never eat here again on principal, as well as the lousy food. I'm totally baffled as to how anyone liked this food. Perhaps I am spoiled by good restaurants.

What happened?

I have been coming here for over 10 years with my wife and her family. They have been coming here much longer. This is our first time back this year for the spring and I don’t know what happened. They added some thing to the menu like empanadas, so I tried the chicken and it was pre-packaged garbage. I ordered scallops with it, I normally get the fisherman’s platter, which my mother in law ordered and it was all super greasy. The seafood also all tested like it was packaged food as if I got it from Arthur Treachers. The seafood used to be fresh and great. Also switched to Kens sauces rather then sauce that was had made or packaged. Not sure if it is new ownership, but really disappointed. Might give them one more chance in the summer and then we will need to find a new spot.

I love this place in the summer. But go there in the winter, totally different story. The food tasted old and not fresh. They were all out of beer. Then charged us $20 for a pitcher of ice. Oh, I mean sangria. Definitely not a winter spot. That’s for sure.

Truly Not A Quality Seafood Establishment

Was not impressed by the quality of what seemed like reheated frozen dinner The New England style clam chowder was thin and lacked taste. The calamri was rubbery and seemed devoid of freshness and probably a frozen package reheat. The clams were overly stuffed with breadcrumbs and little else. catering to tourist without consideration for quality or taste.

Items ordered looked nothing like the photos. My sandwich was basically all bun with no shrimp. I never had coleslaw on a Po Boy. My husbands seafood 2 combo platter looked like a kids meal. Wouldn't return.

Lousy, been there numerous times over the years,came back and got all frozen food from a factory which included Fried shrimp, calamari and NE clam chowder, looks like a new owner with no idea as to what it takes to serve good food,I threw my money away here please don't make the same mistake

Would Never Ever Go Back

Terrible. Lobster was like bubble gum. Fish sandwich , i think frozen fish, on a stale bun. Would never go back even if the food was free.

3 Days Down: The Steam Room, Port Jefferson We came as a group of 5, where they humbly welcomed us to enter the hall to their dining room in the back which offered larger tables. We ordered food, and drinks. Myself and two others all ordered Piña Coladas. This summery sweet, melt in your mouth beverage was anything but that you'd imagine. It tasted foul, nearly sour, and it was just strong and bitter. The alcohol was evidently potent and the drink tasted badly. I thought about sending it back. One of my cousins also admitted that her drink was strong and she started feeling it before it was finished. I guess that's any drinkers reason to drink right? Well I didn't think so, and I mentioned that to the waiter, that our drinks were too strong. Defensively he acclaimed that he made the drinks strong to accommodate the cost... I left the restaurant feeling dizzy, almost light headed from what should have been a frilly fun drink. After an hour my head began pounding and I drove home miserable. I ended up tossing all night and a subtle turn brought it back up. For the rest of the night.. It is 2 & 1/2 days since, and I still feel the effects of being light headed and dizzy. This poisoning is no joke and the manager offered a solution but my misery is definitely a cause not worth going back. All from 1 drink. If they can't get a simple drink right, why should I trust them with my food? I advise at your own discretion to make your own choices, but I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Charged higher price than price listed in menu...would not honor menu price. lobster roll terrible, mussels terrible. only good thing is location.
