We had dinner recently in the White Plains locations and it was very good. We sat outside and they had heat lights on that kept the nip out of the air. The food, drinks and service we all very good I will definitely be going back.

I lunched with a good friend at Salsa Picante today. Their homemade salsa is delicious, but I didn’t expect to love to salmon with mango sauce as much as I did! I’m still thinking about it. You must try it! Great place!

Henny Bogan Does Salsa Picante Mexican Restaurant Okay, I admit that the frontal view of Salsa was not impressive in the least. But as my gang of epicurists entered the premises of this ordinary looking Port Chester eatery, we all noticed the sudden change in appearance from the mundane to the delightful Mexican motif. The wait staff and cooks seemed determined to making our visit a first-class experience, starting with a delicious salsa. My blackened rice quesadilla was yummy and Mrs. Bogan just adored her chicken quesadilla. The fresh quacamole dish was well-received and raves were awarded for the Alambres with steak serving, just covered in onions, peppers and cheese. This was a first-rate effort by the staff of Salsa and our band of epicurists appreciated the effort while also enjoying the Mexican ambience. And if you’re so inclined, Salsa offers a catering service with free delivery.

We ate at their White Plains location. The atmosphere was nice. All was going great. Ordered the steak fajita and all I got was peppers and onions and scraps of meat, I have never had steak Fajitas like this before anywhere. We did complain and they brought it back with a few extra morsels of meat. This was the worst I ever had. For the staff and their cook not seeing what they served was just as insulting. One of our friends had ordered the same and at least she got real pieces of steak. The waitress came to ask how it was after they brought it out with the extra morsels and at this point I didn’t say a thing because it really should have gone back to the kitchen and we should have left, but I did not want to ruin the night with friends, and it has been long time since we all got together. I am not sure why they didn’t see this or at least tried to remedy the situation a better way. I will not be going back and I don’t think our friends will either since they saw the way they handled this.

We were there on a friday night before an 8pm movie. We enjoyed the food; we had an appetizer, Quesito Fundido, that was awesome. We ordered the Chili Relleno and their specialty burrito. Chii Relleno was delicious, the burrito was good but not great. Marguiritas and Sangria were delicious too. Our only issue is that the service was slow. We waited for 30 minutes to get our order and then got the appetizer and entrees too close together. My guess is they forgot about the appetizer and then had to scramble.

Not your standard USA mexican joint. Loved the menu right off the bat. I ended up needing to take out, so I got 3 individual tacos. I went will the tongue, the carnitas, and the al pastor. All were very good. My take out bag was very complete. Napkin, utensils, 4 individual cups of different (and delicious) salsas, chips, and a box of fresh sliced limes & onions. Would highly recommend.

Food is great. Customer service is good. Prices are too high. Had dinner with my girlfriend, the food was great, but ended up spending almost $100 for two for lunch. Too expensive.

We enjoyed our visit to Salsa Picante but, based on reviews, were somewhat disappointed. While the tostadas were excellent and the green tomatillo sauce the best I've ever eaten, there is room for improvement. The chips tasted old, the salsa could benefit from cilantro and spice, and there could be hot sauce on each table for those who prefer hotter food. Also, as a vegetarian, I often fail to understand why places can't be more innovative and flexible. My vegetarian enchiladas consisted of broccoli, squash and carrots, pretty uninteresting and not necessarily Mexican vegetables. Why not add other options like mushrooms, spinach, peppers? And why, when I asked if they could add black beans to this rather bland combination of vegetables, was I told that was not a possibility. My husband had the pork burrito which, while tasty, was dry and could have benefited from more sauce; it barely had any. While we will likely return, we do hope the chef and proprietor take some of these ideas to heart and make some changes.

Pre pottery dinner with the four of us. We had unanimously agreed the service and the quick dinner was delicious. Chips and Sauce - freshly baked Guacamole -so good! Tomale chicken - Hanger Steak Steak Burrito It's right in the heart of the downtown area. The margaritas are nice. All the dishes were delicious

My fiancée and I really had a nice time when we visited for drinks and tacos. The jalapeño margarita had just the right spice. The el pastor taco done Tex-mex style was huge and delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff made it even better!

It's a good indication of a restaurant's popularity when it expands into the space next door. I was afraid that expansion would dilute the GREAT food and service I've come to expect, but the place has gotten even better. We went for a late dinner a few nights ago, and were greeted personally by one of the owners. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, and the entire staff was efficient. The restaurant is spotless, and the open kitchen means there are no secrets. The food was, as usual, amazing. This is definitely one of our favorite places to eat.

My wife and I had dinner here just this evening, and I'm at a loss for a single negative comment. We had the Ceviche (fish based) and Guacamole to start...both were excellent and extremely generous on terms of portion size. I know this may seem insignificant, but the chips were outstanding, too. We followed the apps with the vegetarian tacos and they too were excellent. The service was exceptional...our water was never low, and our chips and salsa never empty. Being from a border town in California, I tend to be pretty snobby when it comes to authentic Mexican food. However, Salsa Picante was the real deal...made me miss home!

I don't review much, only if the place surprised me in a good or bad way. This was a very good way. Stopped by for lunch with my wife & mother. Came in on a quiet afternoon and the staff was very friendly and accommodating and the food was excellent. Bonus was that the price was very reasonable. We'll be back.

In downtown Port Chester this has a “hole in the wall” type of feel to it and the food is excellent. We had the enchiladas, burritos and alambres which is like a fajita. We did the corn for appetizer and the churros for desert. The food was delicious, amazing service and we there was plenty to take home. There is street parking but it’s very limited but there is a paid lot across the street. If you are looking for true Mexican food that isn’t anything like a chain restaurant then this is the place!!
