We were a group of about 30 people and were in a function room on the second floor. There seemed to be sufficient servers but I assume the service issues were more to do with the kitchen. There was almost an hour gap between each of the three courses we were served. This spoiled an otherwise nice meal.

Locals had told me about this place, so I was excited to be invited to dinner there. After having a drink outside, sitting canal side around a gas fire pit, we moved inside for dinner. The menu was varied, including Block Island (RI) swordfish, lamb chops, and, my choice, maple leaf duck. Following a delicious beet salad, I enjoyed the... More

We were in town for a wedding and and went to Richardson's Canal House with another couple. First the house is quite charming and sits right next to the Erie Canal. The menu had a good variety of choices and everyone found something they liked. I had the lamb chops which were cooked perfectly and my wife had the duck breast... More

We had dinner here on a Friday night. The restaurant is a very old canal house, with a lot of period charm and attraction. My wife had the butternut squash soup, which was the soup of the day, and it was absolutely delicious - light and creamy, all at the same time. Her pumpkin gnocchi were less exciting, but still... 30 of us dined here for a formal dinner, from some of the management team to the CEO. The setting, especially lakeside, really help take away the pressures of the day. The food was excellent, I had the steak, which was delicious, but seeing other people's salmon...next time! The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, the food delicious, served promptly with... We sat on the terrace on a warm late summer evening. Server was good, accommodating our request for separate checks. Of the 7 people I would say 3 entrees were a big hit, the rest somewhat underwhelming. I ordered the dry scallops...$32 for 4 smallish scallops, with a very boring white rice, a few green beans and a smear of... More

Do yourself a favor and get their Manhattan Strip Steak and request their smoked bone marrow butter. Last year they were paired together but this the strip comes with their homemade steak sauce and the butter is paired with the ribeye. My favorite! Best restaurant in Rochester hands down. Can't beat the atmosphere in the summer on the canal but... More

This country gem serves some of the best food I've experienced in a long time. Salad was crisp and fresh with a delightful dressing. Their seared scallops were perfect. It was obvious that the chef took great care with his dishes.

Richardson's Canal House is a converted 1830s inn on the Erie Canal. The complex today consists of a half dozen buildings. RCH is a little expensive but, IMO, well worth it. The atmosphere is terrific (particularly if you like sloping floors and the feeling of an old building), the food is excellent, service is great, and you can eat on... More

Very good food, outside by the canal... great service.... what more do you need? If you don't like this place then you shouldn't be on this website.
