When we visit Phoenicia, this is our go-to breakfast place. The breakfast burrito and omelets are great.

The Phoenicia Diner offers delicious food and friendly service while you're traveling on the Catskills Scenic Byway. It's definitely worth a stop while you're enjoying the natural beauty of the region.

This is such a great place. They had a very good menu for takeout along with a kids menu. The food was very good. The staff was very friendly. Would definitely return.

First impressions for a restaurant is critical, that forms a basis of a patron's experience and very hard to alter if it started out badly. There was so much hype about this restaurant on online reviews that I felt we needed to stop by for...lunch to try it out. Once you arrive, you noticed a lot of people waiting around, some appear to in on a line, others are standing in random places. There's no staff around to provide direction and the only staff that was visibly present was an older lady that only cleaned tables that spoke another language. So basically, the entire staff was hold up in the diner (like a fort) having very limited contact on what's going on outside and one staffer only comes out for a brief second to announce someone's name and that their order is ready to be picked up. So, without any clear signs or directions, it created confusion amongst the patrons on where to order or where to wait in line. No one seems to know anything because they don't work there. Since there were so many people, my wife wanted to know how long the wait would be to get a table. I was trying to ask questions of the random people around me to find a staff member. Then with Covid and social distancing, you don't want to cut the line and just go in the diner. Some people won't budge and move aside to let me pass to ask a question. My wife got frustrated at me because in her mind, I was being ineffective and we starting verbally sniping at each other. So this is not a good start already... So what to do now, well, you can't really ask a question unless you wait in line to place an order and that's what we did. So basically, there's line to the entrance of the diner, to place you order with the cashier, then you tell them whether it was a take out or eat in order. Then more confusion started. It was a sunny, but chilly day and there was outdoor seating in picnic tables in the sun and another area in the shade. The shaded area was half empty, but the heat lamps were not turned on. So, it was cold eating there. To add to the confusion, there was an ad hoc line of several people that formed in between both of these seating areas, so you're not sure if people were waiting to pick up their food or waiting for tables in either seating areas. We weren't sure if certain tables were not available because of social distancing that's why it sat empty in the shaded seating area. However, every picnic table in the sunny area was taken. So basically, ON A SUNNY DAY, there can be a line formed out of the blue to wait for a picnic table in the sun. However, ON A RAINY DAY, there may be a line formed to wait for the shaded seating area because the picnic seating area would be exposed to the rain. However, none of this protocol was communicated by the staff or by signage. So, you have people who are waiting in line and others thinking there was no line trying to quickly grab a picnic table as it becomes available in the sunny area so they wouldn't freeze while eating their lunch. No doubt if it wasn't for Covid, I'm sure our experience would be different and more positive. Phoenicia is a small town, so I have no doubt this diner is THE BEST in town. Unfortunately, if you just gave me one of their burgers and fries to eat and asked me what I thought of it, I would say it was average at best. Suffice it to say, it was frustrating experience and it didn't live up to all the glorious recommendations people wrote online about it...More

We had an incredible meal and then I left my backpack there by the time we got back to NYC. We called them - and the team offered to FedEx it to me. It arrived the next day with a complementary tote bag! I can’t...believe how kind that was. Must have been my incredible wife and kids :)More

A business partner and I stopped there yesterday after a long ride to visit a client. We are both local residents, foodies, but neither one of us had eaten there before in spite of their good reviews. We both ordered the same thing, hamburger and...fries. I ordered mine medium rare but what I got was totally medium going to well done but I was hungry and the burger was OK. The real offender were the fries. There is absolutely no excuse to serve fries that are overcooked, wilted and old....you can tell when the fries had been cooked in the previous century and these were it. This is basic stuff....if you can't make good fries you probably should not serve them at all, COVID or not. There are plenty of excellent options in the Hudson Valley and the Phoencia Diner is not one of them; in fact, it was a disappointment. Don't think I will be giving them a second chance.More

Great food and menu, great vibe. A must visit - a little on the pricier side BUT with the huge portions, it's absolutely worth it.

Real old time diner. Order a toasted bagel with cream cheese and lox it was a very generous serving. It’s known to be a cool place.

We had lunch here on our way out of town & it was amazing!! The staff is really striving to keep everyone safe & healthy (masks, socially distanced, outdoor tables). Everyone was friendly & helpful and the food was wonderful! Also, the views were great...from this little spot. 100% would recommend!More

I was here before the new outside tables were complete and ate inside but I think it highly unlikely they would have a problem with the dog outside. However you would need to check with them.

They're very accommodating and whilst it may say one thing on the menu, the chefs were more than happy to modify the dish to my liking. I'm not a mushroom fan either!!
