Well we walked in the other evening with 5 adults and 3 children without reservations. Not to worry because the place was empty. The waitress appeared irritated with us and the place had an odd mildew cleaning product smell. We promptly left and went down...the street to Roseys Italian where we were greeted warmly and the food was delicious.More
Just went for dinner last night and we all loved our food and drinks 🍸. I was drawn to their menu online for the mole enchiladas. I had mine with shredded beef and brought half home . Good portion and excellent sauce . My one...Companion had shrimp fajitas and raved about them . Extensive menu; something for everyone including vegetarians. The house margaritas are available half price at happy hour 4-7 🥃 wheel chair accessible from the lower level parking lot in back .More
Driven by a hundred times and stopped in for HH with wife and daughter. Sat outside in a very modest but comfortable setting. Drinks were reasonable, food was very good I had a small burrito and boxed half of it . Paco worked very hard...tending bar, busing, taking orders and chatting with customers. If you like big fancy chain restaurants with fresh cut flowers in the rest room and linen table clothes you won’t like it here ...... but I’ll be back .... regards JaimeMore
This is the 3rd time in a row my former favorite Mexican restaurant has disappointed. The poor service and flavorless food are no longer an aberration, but sadly the new norm. Based on the last visits, Itacate has chosen to focus on a booming bar...business at the expense of diners. The final visit was the worst. We arrived at around 6pm on a Thursday night. There was a woman ahead of us waiting for her takeout, which wasn't ready. During the 10 minutes she was waiting, no one approached either us or the other couple that came in behind us. I finally directly approached someone and nicely asked to be seated. He apologized nicely and sat us down. Again starts the wait....no one came over to offer us drinks or drop off the chips and salsa until after 15 more minutes when I again had to approach someone directly. Once started, the server was adequate. I was excited to discover they actually had Aqua Fresca available, as none had been made on my previous 2 visits. Unfortunately, it was really bad. And that continued on throughout the meal...their salsa has gone from something wonderful to watery tomatoes with a few shards of onion and cilantro...bland and flavorless. The same was true for the side of guacamole I ordered. This holds true for each item we ordered. I used to see and speak with the owner each time we ate there, but he has been nowhere to be seen lately. Maybe they took all their competent cook's over to the new venture in Fairport. In summary, If you want a great middle aged bar scene and don not care about food, Itacate will still work for you. But...If you actually like authentic flavorful Mexican food (like Itacate used to have) you need to look elsewhereMore
The margaritas are amazing the best, the queso fondit with chorizo excellent, enchilladas and the pescado. All excellent fresh tortilla with salsa . Always stops by this restaurant while I’m visiting love it.
I sat upstairs in the front and it wasn't very uncomfortable. it seems very dated. There was no one sitting up there besides us.
I was totally not impressed with the food there wasn't really that much and it wasn't very tasty at all. That's...just my opinion other people may have had a better experience there but I would never go back.More
Glad to come back here. Once again, hungry on a Friday night. We walked in without a reservation, were seated immediately and were treated to first rate service, as always. The Huachanango Veracruzia was tangy and fresh, salad and rice just fine. Hubby's mole met...with approval. Nothing too salty or greasy. Just great "Mexican MomFood". A bit of a drive, but well worth it! The decor is not fancy, but the place is cosy, with many small rooms and not noisy even when full on a Friday night.More
