My companion first dined at Brooks 42 years ago. She remembers the barbecued, smoked chicken from back then. According to her, it has not changed. It is still tasty and tender. Now you can get a senior meal size--a quarter chicken. If you choose the white meat, they serve you the breast and wing. If you opt for dark, you... More

Okay, I didn't get the BBQ, but I tried my kids'. Chicken is nothing special. I got the breaded seafood platter. I should have saved the $ and got a frozen Mrs. Paul's tv dinner-- would have tasted the same. And what's with the gross red, nasty apple?? ring? No one eats it, and it bleeds red all over your... We thought about dining here but arrived too late at night. Nevertheless, our local friends asked us to bring some takeout for lunch the next day. It became apparent why they, and James Beard, hold this local business in high esteem. Try it if you are in town and like barbecue. You will agree.

This is a very busy restaurant. The food is very good. However, they have removed a lot of favorites from they're menu. Otherwise I'd give 5 stars.

Great value the chicken just falls off the bone! Worth the drive down from Cooperstown for sure. Will return for certain.

Delicious, smokey, tender, fall off the bone chicken. Mmmm. Dreaming about it still and the fresh sweet corn on the cob. Good salad bar and baked potato too. I mean...you can't go wrong here. Worth a drive from any distance. Like seriously, a "must eat before you die" kind of place.

A great place for lunch or dinner, with the best BBQ around and a nice eating environment indoors or out. If you're in town its worth a visit. Easy to get to off I88 exit 17. Stop in and try it, you won't be disappointed!

Ok so I gave this 5 stars in context. It's not a 5 star fancy joint by any means but if you like good ribs & chicken this is the place in this area. I'm not a bbq fan but my brother raved about this place from his college days at Oneonta so we went. Every single thing that came... More
