I accidentally found this place while looking for jobs, tucked behind Family Video in the house of the business owner whose name I have still failed to learn. I did not order that day, but just last night me and my significant other decided to...try something new for Pizza instead of all the obvious choices higher on the 'Best in Olean' lists.
To be honest, I was quite impressed! I have worked Pizza for several years, and am familiar with every style of making it except through Brooklyn Bakery's 'Wood Fire, Brick Oven Pizza'. That said, I was excited to try his version, having just moved from a different state. The menu online was laid out quite simply, and even though we had issues deciding our order over the phone, the lady on the other end (her name is Kaitlyn, I believe, and she helps on weekends from what I gather) was very kind, helpful, and patient with us.
It took a little longer than the time that they quoted us, but delivery is free, (because you have to come pick it up otherwise, adding to the cost) partially due to the fact that there is no seating in the building for customers. That is an advantage, if you ask me, because the one man working and making pizza doesn't have to worry about keeping a dining room clean on top of making everything by himself. Before they delivered, they even called to double-check that they had the address correct, which I thought was very responsible on their side.
It got here and was still hot (they use warming bags like any good pizza kitchen) and smelled amazing! We ordered a pizza that was half-and-half; one side was white pesto sauce with bacon and no tomato, and the other was the same sauce with tomato, pineapple, and ham. The topping distribution was even, the crust was very nice and sweet, if a little chewy, the pineapple was in nice little pieces that were very sweet and juicy and overall I could tell that this guy loved to make Pizza. The ingredients were all fresh, everything was handmade, and you can really tell by the quality. The only issue I had with the pizza was that the dough had been stretched just a little too much, leaving it more thin in the very center than the rest of the pizza. I can excuse this, however, seeing as how they were busy since ordered during dinner time on a Saturday.
Overall, for the price, it is very well worth it. I have not tried every other pizza place in town, but after eating pizza made by this Virtuoso, they better be pretty amazing to win me over! You can bet I will be ordering from there again!More
