This venue is ideal for a small private party. There is an outside deck right on a canal. indoor outdoor bar. Its great if the weather co-operates. otherwise there's a tented room with heat/air conditioning. The food is ok. They could update the menu. The service is good.

I almost NEVER say something negative in a review, so, with guilt, I used the title above for this restaurant. Maybe it was the chilly, damp evening air and grey skies, maybe it was the person sitting near us whose cigarette smoke REALLY invaded our taste buds (he smoked 3 cigarettes, all through his/our meal), but maybe it was more... I went to this place many years ago, even liked it so much that we had a 50th anniversary celebration there. A lot has since changed...We went last night for a romantic sunset dinner, even overlooking the trashy neighborhood rife with junkyards and shipyards and old cars. Our table was on a steep angle due to how the deck was... More

Pulled up, first thing is you see sign featured on food network, maybe in some sort of kitchen nightmares show. We had a large party with children so we were looking for a place suitable for kids. The food was horrible, I am pretty easy going and don't like giving bad reviews but this had to be one of the... More

This place should be called Michaels But Hole. Not Michaels Porthole. It is in an industrial area among boat yards. When I walked through the front doors my jaws dropped as to the ambiance . It was the the dead of winter and so were the 4 people at the bar. There are plastic booths along the walls where we... More

Poor quality food. Every time we give this place a second chance we are disappointed. Not sure if there is another chance in the future.

Stopped by the Porthole on Sunday afternoon, June 8, 2014 for lunch with my wife and son. While the place is a bit rundown, the staff provided excellent service and the food was enjoyable. My wife had the lobster and I had the steak tidbits; we were both very satisfied with our meals. We will definitely go back.

This is the 3rd time I've been here. First visit my husband had a burger & I had a chicken sandwich, which we both enjoyed & had such a pleasant, friendly waiter. Next visit we both ordered the rib eye steaks. My med-rare ordered steak came out extremely rare. I asked for it to be grilled a bit more. My... More

My husband and I usually eat there a few times each summer. Food is very good and staff is very friendly. I was looking for an inexpensive place with great food to have my son's 1st birthday party. Michael the owner was wonderful to work with! I wanted cookie and milk buffet for dessert and he exceeded my expectations. The... More
