Nice Night Out

We ate here based on popularity and location. We had a party of 3 adults and 5 kids and ate outside. The service was very good. Not much on the menu appealed to me, I ended up getting the Pineapple bowl which was shrimp and scallops in a pineapple with way too much pineapple juice. Was just ok, but everything on the menu was very expensive. The best part was the view, watching the sunset. All in all, just ok, next time we’ll try a different place.

Summer on Fire Island

Summer dining on Fire Island means seafood and sunsets. Both are done perfectly at Maguires. We spent our last weekend dinner on Fire Island at Maguires with friends. The 2 lobster special was a great last lobster of the summer!

Amazing view but expensive

This restaurant has probably the best view of Fire Island: on the beach, with beautiful sunset. But the menu is disappointing, as I see it, and prices are high. By the way, appetizers were good and abundants (clam chowder, long island steamers and hot wings).

Way overpriced for the quantity

I ordered the fish taco entree, which included two tacos with slaw and aioli. There was maybe 1 oz of fish for each of the two tacos, which totaled $18.50 not including a $4 Togo fee. Completely underwhelmed with the lack of food for the cost. If you want great fish tacos for a great price visit Albatross down the street instead. I received 3 loaded tacos with tons of meat in each taco. I visited these two different restaurants within 24 hours of each other. I understand fire island/ocean beach is generally going to be more expensive, but that being said $24 for 2 baby fish tacos is nearly a very expensive side dish at that point. No happy hour here

Asked for a frozen margarita , bartender replies “no frozen drinks” I’m a little surprised so I order a tequila on the rocks and corona. 23.00. I jokingly say “ not much of a happy hour” I go outside and look at the sign that says two dollar off beers half off frozen drinks. The night before the coronas were nine dollars so I realize he banged me $16 for a rack tequila. In any event half an hour later, we are surrounded by people drinking frozen drinks. I asked the bartender about it and he says oh we just don’t do frozen margaritas. I asked why didn’t you just tell me you don’t do frozen margaritas? I would’ve had a strawberry margarita he says I can’t do that. I said, do you have strawberry mix you have to tequilla …???he goes on about saying something about putting orange juice in it. In any event won’t be back there for happy hour anytime soon.

Restaurant lost our reservation and ruined birthday dinner for 11 guests

Warning: if this happened to us it could happen to anyone! My daughter reserved her birthday dinner for 11 people days ahead of time. Her credit card information has been taken and she has been warned about a $50.00 no show fee. Group of 11 arrived on time only to be advised there is no table reserved for them as someone must’ve made an error and didn’t record the reservation properly. There was basically no apology but rather a matter of fact statement that there are no tables for at least another hour (!). It was raining hard on that night and 11 hungry guests had to wait over an hour to be seated. Before leaving an establishment my daughter has been asked for the last four digits of the credit card used to secure her ‘non existent’ reservation so she could be refunded a 50.00 fee (?!) This establishment clearly must learn how to ‘hold’ a reservation after making one. Pretty unbelievable experience.

Would HIGHLY recommend having your wedding as Maguire’s. Jim and staff were terrific.

We were here May 18, 2024 for our daughter’s wedding. It was a beautiful reception. Food, views, service were all terrific. We are very impressed and would recommend Jim and his staff. We were here out of season and everything was ready and set up just as we had described. They are very welcoming. We didn’t have to think about anything. The cocktail and dinner were buffet-style clam bake. Our guests are still raving about the food and the time they had.

A summer lunch to remember

This is always a stop on our trip to Fire Island. The food, the view and the service are all top notch. I have had the mushroom sandwich as well as the caprese salad with shrimp. Both were excellent. Definitely worth a visit!

Review your receipts before paying. They sneak in charges.

We first had drinks at the bar prior to being seated, when our bill came we were over charged with a drink we didn’t order and a surcharge of $6 for rocks (not sure if that meant ice cubes) anyway we thought it was an honest mistake however at dinner we were again charged another entre and appetizer we didn’t order. We now are suspicious this is their practice to sneak in extra charges.

still good after all those year

I used to frequent Ocean beach establishments as my grandfather lived there. I had not gone back in years and it was time to go back to my old stomping grounds. Lunch here was fantastic! Everyone was so friendly. The atmosphere was so relaxed. I really wanted to stay all day. The food was so good. French dip was a sure winner! I really wish I could eat there everyday! I can't wait to go back next season! :)

Great View-Good Food-Weak Drinks

My wife and I stopped here for Happy Hour with 2 for 1 drinks and 25% off appetizers. We ordered frozen margaritas, spinach dip and fried calamari. The appetizers were very good but the drinks were weak, we each had two and and my wife commented that she didn't feel any sort of buzz. The view from the dock makes up for some but not all of the shortcomings. I would stick with one of the other restaurants on the water.

Maguire’s offers good food with great view of the Great South Bay Somewhat pricey but it is Fire Island on the bay

Beautiful water view. Amazing rocket fuel drinks -best on the island. Clams casino and little necks were A+. Calamari was thick and chewy unfortunately. Prices are typical for the island. Awesome service. Great atmosphere and definitely will be back.
