Great Views, Value & Service

The food was great value for money, the views incredible and the service without fault & with huge amounts of charm. I don’t want to build up hopes & expectations but there were a few touches of customer service that really stood out and made our night. When we arrived the table we had booked was still occupied, so while the previous guests paid their bill we were seated with a complimentary drink while we waited. Any questions we had on the menu answered clearly, the owner took our order and was very easy to get along with, he gave us some insight into the some of the wines without being too intrusive. After our mains we were offered desert, and then had a vin santo to finish up the evening, both free of charge. We’re in Santorini for our Honeymoon, we didn’t mention it at all throughout the evening because we thought in such tough and uncertain times it would come across like we were looking for freebies when we weren’t. Nektar treated us like we were without knowing, doesn’t mean to say it will be like that for everyone but I was impressed that the owner was committed to a high level of service even at his own cost. A great place to visit for lunch or dinner or even for sundown cocktails and drinks.

The best of the caldera rim cafes.

Of all the cafe/bar establishments along the rim of the caldera that we visited - Nektar was the one we always returned to. Most places offer glorious views of the sunset, (weather obliging), but if that’s all we wanted, we could have stayed on our balcony. Most of the places have an extensive cocktail list, (all priced around the €14 mark), and each has its own particular characteristic. In my opinion though, none offer the same all-round excellent experience as Nektar. Terrific service, great cocktails, truly delicious food, (the desserts are not only delicious but HUGE). Plus you could save yourself the hassle of getting out to a winery for a tasting experience, when Nektar has a number of simply superb tasting flights, (with nibbles), at extremely reasonable prices. In my opinion, the best all-round establishment on the caldera rim.

Lovely atmosohere

We visited here on a night where the sunset was just cloud, and it was chilly, but this didn’t distract from the amazing well priced food, the chilled atmosphere and really attentive staff. They had patio heaters and blankets to keep us warm, such a nice touch. Considering the location we thought the prices were really good and are so pleased we visited. The hulloumi and dinner kebab were delicious xx

Can’t knock the staff for being friendly, and as to be expected with it’s location you have a great view of the caldera/sunset. However, I don’t feel the food was anything special, and considering all the restaurants with this view are overpriced you do therefore feel a little disappointed. I’ve left an identical review for The Vine, there’s a trend.

Nice views, average restaurant

We had a reasonably nice experience here however didn’t blow us away. Firstly, to get a front row seat of the sunset you have to pay €10. In additional you had to spend €100 on the table (this was quite standard across a few places so fine) but I don’t think paying the extra €10 for the view is worth it because there are lots of other lovely restaurants with just as nice if not better views. Staff were nice and helpful however we waited over 20 minutes for a second drinks order which considering they want you to spend €100 seemed a while (it was not because they were too busy, many waiters floating around). Food was average at best, my friend had the vegan moussaka which they kindly said they had a last portion of however she said it tasted a few days old and was not great. Overall it was fine, lovely view and nice cocktails but personally would try other places before going back!

Great cocktails, horrendous service

This is a difficult one to write but is in line with the other 1 star reviews. The cocktails were absolutely amazing, and the views were fantastic. The waiter asked if we were staying for food (the food menu was very limited in my view) but we said we had a booking later (at s different place). We ordered 4 cocktails and then asked for the bill. The waiter became aggressive and intimidating and demand we either buy food or 2 more cocktails. He then said we had agreed to eat food later, misunderstanding we meant elsewhere. He reluctantly gave us the bill and then cleaned tables around us, slamming glasses, plates etc. we actually left most of our drinks because we felt so intimidated by his behaviour. Such a Shame as the view and cocktails were great (even though we waited 25 mins each time we ordered a drink)

Best Visit

We had dinner here on our last night and it was by far the best place of our 11 night trip. The views were just beautiful for the sunset. We were welcomed to the restaurant by the owner who had lovely chats with us throughout our meal. He recommended meals for us and explained everything. I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the beef and I've no words for how tasty the meal was. The dessert was even better. We got a small complementary glass of wine at the end, it's the nicest wine I've ever had. We loved it so much we came back the next day for breakfast, the chocolate pancakes were ridiculously nice. Don't miss this place if you visit Santorini the welcome and overall experience was just amazing. Thank you 😊

A great place to catch a Thira sunset

We took family into Thira for the day and really wanted them to experience the sunset, and (surprisingly) managed to get a table for six at this little gem. The view from the lounge was great, and the staff moved us up a terrace once the table was left so provide us with a better view. We ordered plenty of amazing cocktails, followed by two meat platters, fully intending to then order mains but found we were far too full. The Lounge was clean, chilled and stylish. Staff were great, nothing was too much trouble, and hopefully they enjoyed the playful banter as much as we did. There was a great choice of food on the menu, and taking into account the location and view, I don’t think it was overly expensive either. A great place to eat, drink and watch, would fully recommend.

Excellent view, poor quality of food.

This restaurant had an excellent view for the sunset and the staff were friendly. However, we ordered the gyros and were very disappointed with the quality of the food. For example, the wedges that came with the dish were wedges I would buy at the frozen section in the supermarket and the meat was very fatty. We expected more after reading the reviews, but if it’s a quick basic meal you’re looking for that’s reasonably priced for the view compared to other restaurants this place would be fine.

Breakfast with a view

We enjoyed a complete breakfast at Nektar Lounge with that spectacular view you never get tired of. The breakfast was pretty good, similar to a hotel breakfast. Service was a bit slow at times. Overall we enjoyed as it's hard to have breakfast with a better view than that.

Similar to the other one star reviews we were treated badly and owner was unethical, and he actually made a scene . We went for breakfast a it was great. We told them we had a dinner reservation elsewhere but would like to watch sunset with drinks. The morning manager complied. We finished dinner elsewhere (Classico, which is great) and showed up for our sunset reservation. We ordered am 40 euro bottle of wine (which retails for 8 euros, but were ok with that because of the great view). Upon paying we were informed of the 100 euro minimum and mandatory dinner. We tried to explain we were very clear with the morning manager about our intention. The night manager who said he is the owner said our request would never be allowed and rudely made us leave.

Wonderful restaurant

My friend and I were visiting from New York in July 2019 and we were looking for a place to watch the sunset. We came across Nektar and we were so lucky. The food and drinks are great and worth every dime. The owner and staff are so friendly and hospitable. They really are attentive and represent the people of Greece so well. Our view of the sunset was the “cherry on top”! Nektar Lounge is now our main “go-to” place when we visit Greece and I will always recommend to any friends who visit Santorini.

‘Deposit’ for table booking never refunded

The food and view was good but the ‘deposit’ for booking the table was never returned. Upon booking a table, it asked for a 10 euro deposit incase of no show. I understand this but then either it has to be refunded later or deducted from the bill. They wrote it would not be deducted so I assumed it would just be refunded given we showed up. However this did not happen and despite having contacted both them and my bank, they still have the money and have not received a reply from them. Else it should just be called a ‘payment for booking a table’ as the word ‘deposit’ does not mean payment... This clearly happens to all - so warning to anyone looking to book here - the 10 euro is a ‘payment’ not a ‘deposit’ as they keep your money despite returning it as they indicate they will.

Amazing sunset view with even better food!

Don’t even know where to start so I’ll keep it brief… Sunset view? ✅ Delicious food? ✅ Friendly staff? ✅ Reasonably priced? ✅ I honestly, could not fault this place. We paid 10€ few weeks back to secure a booking (probably best if you want the table with the best views) We were not disappointed. Our table was booked for 9pm (just as the sun sets) and the view was INCREDIBLE. The staff waited for us to settle in, take our photos and did not rush us. They were very attentive and also allowed your space. Definitely recommend!!!!

Great view, good drinks!

This restaurant has a great view for sunset. The dinner was mediocre, so I was a bit disappointed. This place is better to go to for the drinks and view, not the food. Our waiter was very friendly and was a good sport when we joked with him about taking the Gene Simmons cup!
