We were so excited to dine at Lauda because it's apparently the best restaurant in Oia. It was a disappointment from start to finish. We went with the discovery tasting menu and there was only one dish that stood out which was the caviar dish....Everything else was underwhelming, and did not taste very good. Considering our meal was over 400 euro, we truly wish to have dined elsewhere. If you're considering on this place, perhaps it's for a special night, please do yourself a favour and take your money somewhere else. There are so many great restaurants in Santorini, this place is overhyped and nothing special.More

We visited Lauda on the recommendation of a fellow traveller we met on a Catamaran tour...random, huh. But WOW. Lauda is Michelin star quality in the heart of Oia in Santorini. The restaurant is part of a hotel and the location is stunning. We visited...in the evening after sunset and walked down about 30 large steps to our magnificent view table. We chose the small tasting menu and also went for the wine paring which came with each dish. This wan't inexpensive by any stretch of the imagination--but we felt as a one and a which splurge dinner-- it was well worth it. Truly--every single dish, every single aspect of the service was perfection. We loved our entire evening and experience. We booked a table for a party of 4. We arrived to find that they had put us at a long table for 6 persons with two seated side by side and one at each end of the long table. Cardinal sin for a supposed...fine-dining restaurant. If I were eating at Applebees or perhaps KFC, it would have been acceptable. The manager tries feebly to explain that it was so that everyone could have a sea view. That he has the cheek to say so is astonishing for such an establishment. When I insisted on changing to another table for 4 persons which he obliged, I said that it is unlucky in my culture to have empty seats at the table, he retorted that it was for my belongings. Well I guess if I have several bags and luggages with me but considering I was just holding my handbag, it was patently clear that he just had to have the last word. This is a regrettable episode because the chef is talented and the tasting menu was imaginative without trying too hard. My suggestion to the hotel and restaurant, you will be better off finding another manager who does justice to the food and the talent of the chef and kitchen. To be fair, the other wait staff were excellent. And oh, thank you for spoiling my anniversary. You were in short just appalling.More

Our culinary experience ranges from 2 pesos tacos from street vendors in Puerto vallarta mexico back streets to michelen star restaurants in the US and Europe and everything in between! From Fusion street food trucks to classical french cuisine. Sadly we picked this place for...our 30th anniversary and will for ever linger as the low point of our trip as it was SINGULARLY THE WORST MEAL we've had in 15 years of traveling on 3 continents, 10 countries and over 30 cities! And before you jump all over me like the MC Hammer pant wearing condescending waiter did at the Canadian couple sitting at the table next to us, who expressed the same opinion, about how "food is a personal experience and it's not for all people" . (understood from the attitude given as "you're just too stupid to understand our chef's genius") Through-out our travels we've had many meals more and less expensive that left us indifferent or ambiguous about the experience. The flavors or combinations may not have been to our liking but you could understand what the chef was trying to go and the worst I've said about them was "it wasn't for us" . This was NOT the case here!! we had the discovery menu, and 70% of the meal was flavorless, texture-less mystery product because apparently the kitchen staff from the head chef down has zero respect for ingredient and has NEVER heard of something called seasoning! The other 30% was unbalanced mix of clashing flavors leaving you with a nothing but a desire to cleanse your pallet as quickly as possible! To give you just a couple of examples off this menu, 1) Sea Urchin lightly infused with coffee FIRST - Sea urchin is probably one of the strongest umami flavors that you can find. It is one of those flavors that you will either LOVE or absolutely HATE. But no matter what, everyone recognizes that Uni is the fios gras of the sea. Now imagine getting served a dish that contained some white foamy mystery liquid that MAY or MAY not have had the intestines of sea urchin washed in it, sprinkled with the worst instant coffee on the market creating competing flavors making you wonder which would make you vomit first the warm dishwater flavor or the bitter coffee that was out to murder every one of your taste buds. ONE thing is FOR SURE - there was NO sea urchin to be enjoyed in THIS dish! 2) Scorpion fish again with the mystery emulsion that may or may not have been fish with a small piece of something that was so over cooked and rubbery that I was afraid that if I accidentally dropped it over the Caldera it would bounce back up and poke my eye out. 3) lamb In the land that is DEFINED by this protein the only way I can describe the tasteless grizzle filled meat that was served would be to have you imagine going to the finest steak house in Texas, ordering a 60 day aged porter house that is then served to you well done brown all the way through - maybe some ketchup in the side. DESPITE it's marvelous location, In short RUN don't walk past this place and chose instead any number of 3eu price gyro and suvlaki places down the street! You will get a better balanced and more honest meal that this place can ever dream of!More

Wow, wow,, wow! I went with the degustation with matched wines- this meal was a gift from my children- and though costly was an absolute highlight of my trip to Oia, Santorini. The tastes, textures and wonderful setting was only enhanced with the 5 star...service. A memorable experience not to be missed.More

Wow! Exceptional atmosphere, outstanding service, & the food is unparalleled. Its restaurants like these that have you give them the money they have more than earned. They don't take a dime from you. The dishes were superb. The flavors were intoxicating. The romance for my...wife and I was off the charts and we were able to get lost in each other, while enjoying the most satisfying dinning. The sommelier made the wine selection so good, we ordered bottles to take home. There is so much to say. I recommend the tasting menus. It's worth it. The Scorpion fish dish was phenomenal and by itself was worth it.More

Hi there, everyone dresses in nice light colored clothes blues and whites and yellows. Casual Chic seems to be the dress code but I went at sunset. Enjoy!

It’s The Greek Islands, Smart casual is good everywhere!! Note; it gets surprisingly cooler at night in Santorini regardless of the day temperature
