If you love going out for dinner and... 1) Overpaying 2) Getting terrible service 3) Having food reheated that was made earlier 4) Eating a dish that is 90% oil (and don't say all Greek food is like that...it isn't) Well then Lotza is the...perfect place for you! One of the few restaurants open late in the area during the winter months seemed like a treasure of a find. Sat down quickly and next to a heater...and a restaurant that focuses on Greek cuisine vs. the many (but still tasty) options of only Italian or Burgers. Excited knowing that the Greek people take pride in their food...usually. Well we ordered and our food came out quickly! The salad was delicious and the bell pepper meal (I forget the name) was brought out. It had so much smoke coming from it you'd swear there was a fog machine in the bowl. The middle of the dish was piping hot and the outside was luke warm, at best. Maybe it was just us...or an off dish.... Then we notice two tables over someone complains about their food. Sure enough they say it's cold on the outside. The waiter takes the food to the kitchen then openly mocks the customer in their sights. Another dish comes out to a table next to ours (pasta it seemed), again, smoking like it was cooked by dragon. The food was overly bland and just too hot. We pick at our food and touch barely any of it. Finally, we get ahold of a waiter only to be told they MICROWAVE their food. In fact the exact quote was "how can we be expected to cook all the food, so we make it and then reheat it later". If you've ever seen Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey or worked in a terribly kitchen you've seen this lackluster excuse before. It's cheap and lazy. Yes, I already had an idea based on the fact that microwaved food is usually steaming hot and warmer in the middle than outsides..but it almost seemed like this place was proud of it. What a shame for Greek food and Greek culture. About 30 minutes of us picking at our dish and having taken maybe 3 bites each, they finally came and asked if we wanted the check. And then asked us how much we were tipping. Unsurprisingly, no tip was going to this place. Though I can give anyone reading this a tip - ignore the oddly positive reviews and enjoy real, freshly made greek food, anywhere else but Lotza. Most places are proud of their food. And rightfully so.More
