Agreeing with all of the above bad ratings. They guy is a slick and tries to make you change your mind on your food wishes. Bread was cold and hard (especially the pita). Wine was very good but definitely too expensive. Honesty is definitely not...a perk of this place. On the other hand, food was simply home made but definitely overpriced. The waitress was very nice and gentle with all clients.More

Found via TA. Family owned business focussing on homemade food tightly menued. Owner is passionate about the food providing full descriptions. Went as a foursome. Had bread and dips to start (eggplant mix and lentil like mix - both full of flavours) Then had the...slow cooked lamb, fish of the day (dorado melt in mouth and with lovely Med veg) and seafood linguine with a great selection of mussels prawns clams and squid. All were excellent. Finished with Baklava light and full of nuts and a walnut cake again excellent. You do have to find this place as in back street but do make the effort! Toilets were immaculate as well!More

We found this restaurant by chance on our last night on the Island. A lovely host and the food (lamb and fish) beautifully cooked. The wine list is extensive. The host tells us his mother is the main cook and wow can she cook. Lovely...place highly recommended.More

My wife and I had dinner here last night and it was the best experience we had in our week in Santorini. We took a few back streets looking for something more authentic and stumbled upon this place. We didn’t have a reservation but they...fit us in anyways. It’s a very authentic, home cooked, family feel to it. It’s been family owned for over 20 years and they’ve narrowed down their menu to what they do best and the most popular dishes. The service was unbelievable, there were only two people working the tables and they were more attentive and nice than any of the other restaurants we visited (~8 others). The prices were also extremely cheap. You get so much food for such a little price that you feel guilty! One of the owners has 2 little dogs that run around that are hilarious- It only added to the amazing night. The food, the staff, the dogs, the atmosphere, and prices made this a 10/10. We were there for several hours and were the last to leave and wobbled home after.More

We found this place just stepping off the main tourist path for lunch. Make sure you do the same. Lovely family run restaurant Spryos greeted us warmly, he talked us through the menu with detail and you could tell the love of the produce they...serve. We settled for the special Dorada fish cooked with herbs - amazing the other dish was lamb shank again beautiful - so tender and melt in the mouth. Not forgetting a couple of local “fix” beers. We watched other food go out and all looked amazing. Portions decent size too. Spyros hospitality was lovely, he talked about treating us as guests not clients. Made you feel at home but in a beautiful surroundings - think Greek garden with cushions and candles. We want to try it at night which we have booked to return. Make sure you look this place up you won’t be disappointed. Thank you for an amazing meal.More

What a gem of a find. We only nipped out to the supermarket for a bottle of wine on our last night and ended up spending the whole evening here. Only wish we found this place earlier. If you are looking for a real authentic...place away from the tourist trap I cannot recommend this place enough. The food was excellent and we felt really welcomed.More

Everything we had was amazing! We had pork with figs and apricots that was to die for. The fish of the day was beautifully done, fresh, and so tasty. We have been in Santorini for 4 days and this was the best food we have...had on the island. In addition, the atmosphere is so lovely. It was the perfect place for a romantic dinner. We felt lucky to have found this place!More

What an unbelievable restaurant tucked in one of the most amazing places on earth. There is no amount of words to describe the magic this restaurant cooks up day in and out. Spyros at first can be a bit passionate for some, but his honesty...about his food comes from a place of love and yearn to have you get the best experience ever. My Fiancé and I came here hoping to get our meal to go (our view at our room was stellar), but uppon arriving we were told by Spyros "no my food is not to go, i cannot let you do that with our food. If youd like please come enjoy it with us inside." Without thinking twice we said, " If you have room for us wed love to dine with you, we understand this is one of the best family restaurants on the island" Let me tell you, it absolutely was. Our first dish was the mussels (i just drooled, Im sorry), the second dish was the octopus with this citrus green sauce...Spryos if you are reading you tainted me forever with that tasty dish. The main entree was the catch of the day, fileted open with sauteed green and lemon....I will never have a better fish in my life. The hospitality was second to none when it came to this restaurant, Spyros and his amazing right hand partner were always attentive and checking in on us. We will never forget this meal, the conversations had about life and love and especially Spyros and his family.More

Candouni is located along a pedestrian alleyway in Oia, We were seated in the courtyard patio with arbors and treated to some traditional Greek music. The service was efficient and friendly. We had some very delicious appetizers of calamari and Cretan dakos and a very...good wine. All the food was nicely prepared and tasty.More

This place is so cute. The food was delicious and the recommended bottle of wine was perfect with our slow cooked lamb. We had a great time. The one weird part was our server who made weird jokes, that's why I'm giving this a 4...star instead of 5.More

After an earlier visit, we chose Candouni for the last night of our holiday, simply because we had felt so welcome and been so well fed! We follow a plant based diet and the team there could not have been more helpful in taking us...through the menu options and adapting some dishes to make them vegan-friendly. As well as the staff and the food, this is a great setting and well worth seeking out. We felt like guests and not just clients. Thanks Candouni team!More

The owner is very rude to the visitors, the food is bad and service is horrible. I don’t understand why this place has good rating??? Tourists shall ignore it so that it is out of business very quickly.

The Candouni was recommended to us as a place we would get authentic Greek food in a relaxed atmosphere. We were lucky enough to go when there was live Greek music playing which added to the atmosphere. The restaurant is tucked away down one of...the side streets and some of the tables are in an open air courtyard. The Maitre D' was very knowledgeable about his dishes and took time to explain them to us and recommend a wine. The food was hearty and tasty, I had the Rooster with rice - delicious and plenty of it! Fine dining it is not - and all the better for it!More
