Best meal of my stay in Oia was the pork with plum and apricot, served with rice in this lovely restaurant.

It was our first night in santorini and it was amazing, we had dinner under the candle lights to some live greek music, it was super romantic. Our favorite were the shrimps, lamb chops and potato pure, just amazing! The waiters were super nice and...attentive even tho the restaurant was packed and they were just 2. We got to see the owners dog walking around and greeting everyone which was so cute. Such a great place I don’t think other places will be able to top it. If you come to santorini do yourself a favor and book a table here because they fill up very fast!More
Incredible food, ambience and service. Perfect representation of a traditional Greek cuisine and dining. A must visit, make sure to make a reservation!
The food was lovely, we had dips and fresh fish and lamb. We tried the pomegranate raki. The staff was friendly and recommended the drinks and food. The food tasted really nice and were told that it’s authentic Greek home cooked food. There was live music...in the restaurant and the vibe was beautiful. Would definitely recommend to visit this place.More
We here in Greece for almost three weeks around all islands and stop by for three days in Santorini. We are so picky about food and look first for freshly fade diner not worming up and we found this place by reviews and also adding...ours. We give 5 star over all, even was a Lily busy but they so passion and friendly. Fantastic food and really friendly staff.More
My husband and I just had a magical dinner at Candouni. The owner (also only waiter, Maitre d’, and sommelier) is incredibly passionate about his restaurant and food! While this may make service not flow as smoothly as you like it is so worth any...wait you experience ( which quite honestly wasn’t as long as some reviews may infer). We also had the most amazing guitarists playing live Greek music to add to the atmosphere. This is a family style restaurant and truly made us feel special! Thank you!More
Cosy, small restaurant full of character. Without doubt the best value for money eatery in the old town. What it lacks in views it makes up for with the tasty meals on offer at the best prices on the island.. Unique service with a smile...too. Absolutely adhered it, pity we only found it on last day.... our loss for sureMore
Very good family restaurant with excellent greek cuisine. Anything we ordered from meze to desert was home made and tasted perfect. Also tried Spyros's own wine. The atmosphere was accentuated by a selection of music by greek musicians. Mirto, Spyros and his Ma were all...very friendly and made us feel at home. We had very enjoyable evening.More
We chose this restaurant based on reviews on Tripadvisor and other food websites. The food was absolutely delicious, and the location and ambiance were great. However, from the moment we sat down, our waiter tried to engage us in a conversation about what he referred...to as "gender stupidity." He kept referring to us as "you people" (we think he meant Americans), and eventually told us some story about his 10 year old daughter and her confusion about gender issues. He asked one female member of our party if they used to be a man. It was all so offensive. So, I can't recommend this restaurant - too bad as the food was wonderful.More
Stumbled upon this cute gem of a place in the narrow streets of Oia. Live Greek folk music, great food, good wine and excellent ambience with candlelight.
We went here for lunch - run by a lovely Greek couple. Food was absolutely amazing. Felt like a cute authentic experience hidden in amoungst Oia. A must do!
Don't expect fast service at this beautiful restaurant in Santorini. It appears that an elderly woman is the only person waiting on tables while her husband is trying to something, anything to help after his stroke. The open-air patio is beautiful and covered with flowering...vines. While the indoor dinning area is decidedly old school with dripping candles as decorations. Two young women were belting out traditional folk songs while playing a violin and a bouzouki that night. Nevertheless, the food from the kitchen is excellent. Fried saganaki was classic and tasty. The paper thin sliced fried eggplant and zuchini appetizer was outstanding. My wife enjoyed her grilled chicken with veggies. My mussels steamed in ouzo were unusual and with salty broth. The wine list by the bottle is fairly priced and we enjoyed a local bottle of Assyrtiko. Honestly, we felt sorry for the poor woman who was trying to do too much by herself that night.More
Cheapest bottle of wine is €40 for the house wine (or €14 per small glass) which is a complete joke. Staff seem disinterested, the food is a bit overpriced and underwhelming, and no wonder it was dead. This was our worst overall dining experience on...the island. On the plus side, it’s a great location and nicely set out with candles lit on each table - just a shame there were no customers (we hadn’t read the reviews whilst clearly others had). But the toilets were clean my wife noted! There is great potential if the owners/staff could just be bothered to try a bit harder, be a bit more welcoming and halve all the prices of the wines so that they become comparable to other similar local restaurants. At the moment, I suggest Candouni has been left way behind and is best avoided. What a shame.More
We know Candouni over the years and we have beautiful memory. Back then, it was a charming place with romantic ambience and excellent food. However, meanwhile, sadly, charm is gone. Now? only money money money. On our bill, 7 (or 8?) euros was charged for...bread, which we didn't order and we didn't even see it on our table. So we requested the waiter(cum manager) to correct the mistake on the bill. He didn't seem surprised. He seemed rather offended as if we were wasting his time. He yelled out "you are spending $$$ for staying in Oia, and you are arguing for few euros?" Speechless.More
Over multiple trips we have dined at Candouni repeatedly. This is an extremely special place: one that is more family home than restaurant. The food is fantastic and cooked by Mom. The staff is perfectly attentive. This is one of the few places that have...live music and the only one that is authentic Greek that we have found. It was hard to say bye on our last dinner. Thank you for allowing us into your home! Jayme & JamesMore
