This place is beautiful and the seafood is amazing (note only 2 options on the menu if you don't like seafood) The sunset view is stunning. However the service was a total let down. We booked months and months in advance as we were visiting Santorini on our honeymoon and my wife's birthday. We asked multiple times during the booking process for a table on the waters edge. When we arrived someone in the restaurant we knew who booked last minute had been given a table on the waters edge and all the rest were reserved- we were given a table in the middle of the restaurant (which wasn't even reserved). The service was slow and unless you were spending a lot of money they didn't go out of their way at all to be attentive (or give you a good table). We also paid a deposit and there was a discrepancy even when we showed our proof of payment. Totally tarnished what should have been a special evening. We walked down the steps were hard in the heat but we wanted to experience it. Definitely taxi if you don't fancy the walk in the heat. Don't get a donkey- the poor things work 8am-10:30pm with no water, no food and no shade. Walking past them on the walk down was really disappointing and sad.

The restaurant has the perfect sunset location but you should reserve it you plan to have dinner because it’s booked. The service was slow and didn’t pay attention we waited for 20 minutes pay and the service asked for tip really bad behaviour. The food was good but nothing special don’t expect too much.

Food very basic for what you pay for.
My starter was served first and we waited an additional 10mins before my partner’s arrived - therefore I’d almost finished mine before his was on the table. Our main courses then came whilst we were still eating our starters! The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy (only around eight other tables occupied) however our glasses sat empty through our starter and main. The staff are friendly and polite enough however the service should’ve been better.

My partner and read reviews saying ‘the best seafood in Santorini’ and decided to stroll down from our hotel ‘The Santo Maris’. On arrival we were seated on a table for 2 small enough that a dwarf would have felt crammed in. My partner went for the grilled prawns and I went for the scallops. Food we regularly eat in London. The prawns took about 40 minutes to arrive and whilst it was clearly fresh it was without a pinch of seasoning not even a touch of lemon. The scallops didn’t arrive for another 20 minutes so i found myself looking around to see which fisherman was in the bay catching them. When they did eventually come they were again without ANY seasoning. A complete waste of such a good quality meat. I wasn’t sure if we just had high standards due to our experiences in London or because the reviews and price lead us to believe we would get our money’s worth. Nevertheless we had high hopes.
Anyway...for our main we decided to go for the lobster linguine which was £105 for 2. We’ve enjoyed lobster in the Dominican Republic which came with garlic butter and lemon which was amazing so we’re really looking forward to this. We were left waiting for another 30 minutes before it came and it looked nice on the plate but was blander than a room with all white walls. No lemon, no pepper and not a hint of garlic in sight. I’m not sure who has been writing these positive reviews as the food was quite frankly shocking and I’m not sure what kind of individuals eat unseasoned food. We had prawns the night before in Oia for £16 and they were so much better as they actually had flavour. This restaurant is and absolute let down in so many ways. Bland food, poor service, extremely long waiting times and overhyped. I was so angry about it I signed up just so I could leave a review which provides balance so others didn’t end up in our position.

We enjoyed the starters but ended up waiting an additional 2 hours for the mains to arrive. After waiting an hour from consuming the starters, I called the waiter over to ask how much longer it would take. He replied with “you ordered the lobster linguine so it will take some time.” 1 hour and 30 mins later, not only was I hungry, but extremely annoyed at the poor customer service.. I could see people who had arrived after us had already been served their mains and were on dessert and yet my friends and I were STILL waiting for the lobster linguine. I then asked to speak to the Manager, who was apologetic and assured us that the mains would be served in 6 mins.. 40 mins later (2 hours and 10 mins from consuming the starters) the lobster arrived. I had already asked for the bill because by this point I was so angry that they had taken so much time and had now lost my appetite. In the end the Manager told us the starters were on the house and we left. Very disappointed with the time wasting and poor customer service.

Tourist trap. However the restaurant has a great view of the sea and the sunset. The food is seafood based, quality is average but the prices are premium.
Ammoudi bay offers a unique view of the sunset for Santorini, but if that’s all you’re interested in I’d suggest a walk back up to Oia for a wider/better choice of restaurants after watching the sunset.
Our visit was particularly disappointing after:
a) being told, on booking, that as a group of four we would only be able to sit as two tables of two (this was a bad sign and really we should have cancelled the booking at this stage! Our mistake…..);
b) on arrival not being allowed to move our chairs around the table to get the best view. No reason given except for the hosting teams’ belligerence;
c) sitting at our table whilst the waiting team retracted all of the sun canopies. Lovely to see the sun but make sure you wear your sunscreen! When questioned apparently this was “normal” and we had to just wait “five minutes for the sun to go down”. We got the feeling the restaurant was more focused on ensuring visitors could take a good photo rather than enjoy their meal!; and
d) views of the sunset being obscured by a flotilla of tourist catamarans between the restaurant and the sunset.
On the positive side the food seemed to be of a reasonable quality. Good choice of seafood and a knowledgeable waiting staff who knew both the food and the wine menu.
There are better restaurants in Santorini but if you’re happy to pay a premium for a sunset view and average food and service this is the place….

We visited this restaurant yesterday evening having already eaten at Dimitris and Ammoudi Fish Tavern each a few nights before. I would give Sunset a miss, we found it to be more expensive than the other two, the food and service were a lot worse. We had calamari which were rubbery, fried zucchini, tazatziki and seafood linguine. The prawns in the seafood linguine were overcooked and the pasta was very bland. It hardly had any sauce. The service was really bad, we kept having to ask twice for things and it was so impersonal as you just had to try and catch the attention of whichever waiter was racing past you and they sometimes ignored you. I am not surprised the service was bad as the waiters were all completely run off their feet, there were definitely not enough to accommodate all the restaurant guests. Two stars because the sunset was lovely.

The view was great and it's close to Ammoudi Bay if you are hungry after swimming. The atmosphere was good and the staff is kind. However, service is very slow and it's super expensive for what you get. I ordered a whole fish with vegetables, and by the time I got it everything was cold. For that kind of money, I expect my food to be hot, at least. I would not go back, there are beer restaurants in town.

Really poor service. Knew it would be expensive but even overpriced considering that. Lobster obscenely expensive. Worst of all was service, non existent, bought wrong drinks, took 30 mins for two cocktails. One dish came on a cracked bowl and leaked. Entirely inattentive. Could have been improved if the waiters had the time to even pay the tiniest bit of attention. Much better options. Avoid.

Very bad experience in this restaurant: the first time they lost our reservation and after 30 min waited we left. the 2nd, our hotel booked, we ordered 2 lobsters which arrived after 45 minutes overcooked. The accompaniment was boiled vegetables (!!!) we asked grilled, they were billed to us ... Very bad service, the hostess is not smiling, you're going to wait a lot, go elsewhere it can only be better.

Every time we have visited Oia we’ve reserved our best meal for Sunset Amoudi. We’ve always had a seaside table, (reserve in advance), and wouldn’t miss the lobster spaghetti. It may be the best lobster spaghetti in the world with a good kilo of perfectly cooked fresh lobster in a unique spaghetti sauce. Lobster isn’t inexpensive in Greece but it’s well worth the price! Don’t miss the sunset, especially if you travel here in September. Our service couldn’t have been more attentive and most of the lobster is pulled from the shell table side. Our sunset salad to start and share was excellent as well.

Worst meal of our trip. Positive: Fantastic location about 1 foot away from the water.
Negatives: Our waiter recommended the red fish for 2, said it was their best dish. If you’ve eaten fish much you’ve probably heard the saying that “fish that tastes fishy is poorly prepared?” Well this was so, so fishy that we thought it might be bad, it was just inedible.
My wife and I each had one piece and that was all we could handle, worst fish we’ve ever had - and right on the water no less. So it was either old, or badly prepared or just not taken care of properly when delivered to the restaurant- awful.
Other than that - the Greek salad was the worst we had on this Greek vacation and the saganaki was also the worst on our vacation.
We told the waiter the fish was bad and he just sorta blew us off and took the food away, then brought the bill, so we just paid the $97 euro and left. Worst meal of our vacation, just really bad. So disappointed….

Awful, waste of money! We thought this would be great after seeing reviews. Amoudi Bay is a beautiful location and we should have socked up the view and left. As soon as we got there we didnt find the waiter helpful or overly friendly. I was surprised as for such a EXPENSIVE restaurant you expect the best service but we carried on ordering. The dip of the day which should come with bread was not available, they gave us a few olives to have with bread. We asked for some kind of dip with the bread instead of eating plain bread and he said we could buy olive oil which we did. I heard the table next to us complain there were so shrimp in their pasta, the waiter said there was "one" in their food. I nearly fell off my chair when i heard this. Food was not great, bill came to more then £100. No special attentive service or food. Calamari was rubbery.

Food was very tasty only I wouldn't say it's worth money as prices a little bit above average of another taverns with also tasty food . Big minus were 300 steps to get back up after food. We probably wouldn't go twice again this way as due to high heat on that day.

Went to this place because I read about the Amazing reviews online. It was 2 of us, we had linguine di mare, tasted nice, overcooked and nothing special!
Also, stayed in Santorini for 4 days.. this was the only place that did not give us liquor at the end of the dinner like every other place in the island.
We paid more then 50 euros for pasta, fried squid and a glass of wine. No no no!
