I myself have dined on Pete's for close to 71 years. Other members of my family including my parents and grand parents for more than that. I recently took a buddy all the way from Long Island for a leisurely drive upstate. Of course we...had to have our lunch at Pete's. My usual two dog's mustard and sauerkraut, and a chocolate milk. I was a kid again!More

Pete's hot dogs are still the best. I've been going here since I was old enough to eat hot dogs. I can remember my mother saying "let's go get a hot dog and lemon ice".

As usual, it was a quick visit. But Renee was pleasant, quick and efficient. The dogs were absolutely perfect. I appreciate that through the generations they have not changed at all.

I grew up in Coldenham, eight, ten miles west of Newburgh. Since 1962, when my Dad stopped at Pete's and bought me a couple of dogs, and an orange soda, (Costa, of course), I've always enjoyed Pete's! Now, I live outside Denver, but Pete's is...a regular stop whenever I return home. Several family trips saw our kids and myself sitting in Pete's with three or four dogs a piece. I've traveled in and around 44 states, and there is NO better hot dog stand in America for me. WayneMore

I wouldn't rave about the hot dogs. They are your average snap casing hot dogs. Pete's offers a small variety of toppings which are good. The price is good. The hot dogs are good. Pete's has been in the same spot for what seems like...forever. I lived on West Parmenter St in 1973 and Pete's was there then. When it's lunch time, don't plan on sitting down and eating. Run in and grab your dogs and drink and leave. Bathroom was very clean.More

I was referred by a friend to visit Pete's Hot Dog Stand. The food was ok. But the attitude of the gentleman at the front counter was terrible. He was a slim fella with glasses and long hair. He was impatient and snatched the money...out of my hand. I don't know maybe he was just having a bad day or he just didn't want to serve me, but I know one thing, my family and friends will never visit this establishment again. Ist and last time!More

Unlike many hotdogs this place has the kind that have some snap to it. It may just be personal preference and growing up in Europe with that kind of a hot dog skin. Normally US hotdogs have softer skin and seem wobbly or too salty....These are just right. Toppings okay for what one can put on a hotdog. The place is busy during lunch hours , so don't expect a fine dining experience. Most of the people have been there for years and it's basically : Orde , pay, get your order and leave. No time for friendly customer chit chat. Some visitors may be offended by it being impersonal, but I like it. Get in , get out and no time wasted.More

Came back to Newburgh for my 55th high school reunion (NFA 1964) and HAD to stop at Pete's. The hot dogs are as good as the were back when they only cost 15 cents! Just sorry it wasn't in the summer so I could get...some of their home-made orange or lemon ices, too.More

I grew up eating Pete's hotdogs my dad used to take me there when I was a kid..but no more! as of October 2019,I ordered 4 hot dogs with kraut mustard and raw Onions...so another guy behind me ordered after me..so I'm waiting for about...10-15 minutes no hotdogs meanwhile there are more customers lining up..no hotdogs so I waited patiently the when Pete's finally got it together with his prepared hot dogs the customer behind got his order first,I didn't think that was fair so I ask for my money back Pees got very Heated with me only because of the refund I requested for..I was shocked and hurt being that I spend hundreds of dollars down through the years only to be treated like this..but Pete's hotdogs is a no go for me..ever again!More

The memories of going to Pete's as a little girl with my father prompted me to ask just how long Pete's has been here; 87 years, since 1932. A Newburgh native, my Dad (born in 1936) grew up with Pete's and it was always a...treat for us to go for dogs & 'kraut! The hot dogs are still the best, with a variety of sauces to choose from. I stuck with the basic sauerkraut (which I thought could have used a bit more tang) while my brother went for the meat with red onion sauce (which definitely had a bit of tang!). There are still stools and a handfull of tables and a cozy atmosphere. Service is prompt and friendly. Definitely one of Newburgh's gems!More

a newburgh landmark. This is a dirty water hot dog stand that has been around for over 30 years. Cheap eats, and what you would expect for a hot dog stand.
