We stopped here when visiting the area and had dinner with friends. We were able to get a table on the outside patio overlooking the Hudson River. It was a beautiful day and everything was wonderful. We had calamari, fish tacos and drinks. Everything was...fresh and tasted great. Service was first class, friendly and quick. We recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.More
We were gifted with a gift certificate. Though a seafood place is typically not for us, it was wonderful to know that Captain Jake's could make modifications to meet our needs. The shrimp penne dish was adjusted to have no shrimp and extra veggies.
The...beet salad was modified, so I could have the cheese and dressing of my choice. Staff were pleasant and responsive. The atmosphere on the water was lovely. All in all a lovely dining experience.More
My friend and had are first time visitor's to Newburgh's waterfront and we had lunch here. We sat outside and the view is beautiful right by the Hudson River. Food and service was great. You are given either a paper menu or you can scan...the barcode onto your phone and pull up the menu that way.More
Getting gas before going over the Hudson River Bridge and my fiance sees a sign for the "historic district". Instead of going over the bridge back to our hotel, we head toward the river.
After parking in what appears to be a nice area to...walk, we find an area directly on the Hudson River with many restaurants. Some are still closed for the 4th of July holiday or Covid-19 but Captain Jakes was open.
Clearly set up for social distancing, we were able to get two seats at the bar. Ordered the steamed little necks and the muscles as we had just had a wine and cheese snack @ Robibero winery in New Paltz.
Food was cooked perfectly and the sauces were tasty. The bread slices were not too big or too small so we could soak up the sauce after the tender shellfish were devoured.
At least a twice a year trip, we have stayed in Fishkill but we will go back and stay on the other side of the bridge in the future.
Kudos to Lauren our bartender/server (and the other ladies) who was busting her but to make sure everyone was taken care of. Her drinks were perfect and her happy personality was very welcoming.More
Very nice restaurant located in the beautiful riverfront in the historic Newburgh NY. Restaurant was very busy and very clean. Menu was very nice and service was outstanding. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Will definitely go back and highly recommend to others.
First time at Captain Jakes and I wish I had checked it out sooner. Had dinner with my sister and her husband there last night. It was a very enjoyable experience. Friendly and competent staff that did not rush us. They have an L shaped...dining room , a decent size bar along one side of the dining room and in the warmer weather it looks like patio seating on the waterfront. We had a combination of seafood and steak dinners which we thoroughly enjoyed. I especially liked the potato croquets. They do not have their own parking lot so at really busy times it could be tough to find a spot right out front.More
Went here on my own during a work trip for dinner. I ordered a dish that was baked Cod toped with crab cakes and a white cream sauce. It was delicious. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. The sides complimented it well. The service...at the bar was very good. The waitress was attentive and friendly. Overall very good.More
Arrived 2:00 on a Sunday afternoon Columbus Day weekend. Staff was polite, food and the view were GREAT. We had one of the signature cocktails and it was delicious! The service was not attentive. We could not get anyone's attention to fill our water glasses....We had to go grab a pitcher off the service bar ourselves. One dinner, one sandwich and a signature cocktail was $ 60.00. Worth it because it was excellent.More

I can't tell you anything about their ability to accomodate you on your specific date , but I would certainly think that their patio room (which is screened in and has a lovely view of the river) would be an ideal location for a group of your size. I would strongly recommend you request the outside dining area because it's much brighter. Hope this is helpful.
