My wife and I made Los Jalapenos our first stop on our trip for dinner and it didn't disappoint! The Fresh made guacamole was a great start and then the Casa Migos margaritas came to the tabe! they were fantastic! Followed by the chile rellenos and the chimichangas. Both were also fantastic! The churros were a great ending. But our waitress really made us feel at home. She has a great personality!

Los Jalapenos had lots of room for outdoor dining. The traditional margarita was excellent and inexpensive. I had the mixed fajitas, my wife the mole chicken enchiladas, and as good as the fajitas were, I was suffering from FOMO. My older daughter ordered the chicken enchiladas and they were excellent as well. My wife was tending toward the seafood enchiladas, but a curious thing about New Paltz Mexican restaurants is their inclusion of salmon in their fish dishes, not something that seemed right to her. The wait staff was wonderful and the experience was satisfying from start to finish.

I waited to write this review after my second visit to see if the food and service was consistent. It was. The food is very good as is the service was friendly and quick. Also, the prices are reasonable. The portions are good. There is free parking in back. Remember that the restaurant is not big, so you may have to wait a little.

my daughter and I ordered in this place and need to wait for 15min so while waiting, we decided to take a walk for like 10min then we came back in the place and wait for 5min. So, I decided to asked for a glass of water coz i really need to quench my thirst. then the guy asked, "do u still need water since you're food is ready". For me this question for a customer like me was totally rude and inappropriate. Even if you served the food and the customer asked water while waiting for the order you this kind of gesture is a sign of unprofessionalism and lack of training for customer service policy. Guys you better not deprive us!!! Hey remember it's summer time! u easily get dehydrated easy!

OMG! The food is so beyond good from the Mexican chicken soup to the arugula/garlic/shrimp quesadilla and chicken and spinach burrito. The soup was thick and filled with authentic flavors and the entrees were served piping hot. We just loved everything. Our server was very welcoming and attentive. It’s a very cute, small restaurant with a warm and homey atmosphere. There is outside dining and a bar. It is also right beside a shoe store!! What’s not to love?

We just happened upon this little jewel!! Worth a visit😊 The chicken tortilla soup was delicious! The carnitas (shredded pork) taco was simple, yet tasty. My husband loved his beef and chicken tostadas.

Enjoyed the vibe and service as much as the food in this funky joint serving traditional Mex-American, as well as innovative specials, in a pleasant setting.

Super friendly staff put up with our large party of nine (including 5 kids) and never missed a beat. Food ranged from taco salads, tacos, burritos, chimichangas, steak and fish. All was excellant and not much leftovers. Price for 9 was about $150 which included a couple drinks. Would recommend in a town filled with good eateries.

My Wife and kids brought me to Los Jalapenos for lunch on Father’s Day. This was our first time at Los Jalapenos and our first time visiting New Paltz. We had a wonderful family lunch. The food was outstanding and the service was very good. The restaurant is small and cozy and has a small-town charm about it that goes well with the authentic recipes. The food was far superior to what you would be in any of the tex-mex chains and well above par for a small Mexican restaurant. All five of us enjoyed our meals and everything was prepared correctly and come out hot. The prices are extremely reasonable too. Los Jalapenos is worth a visit if you are anywhere around New Paltz and looking for a great Mexican meal.

While touring the New Platz downtown area hunting for a restaurant for lunch, chanced upon this somewhat unassuming restaurant on Chestnut Street, mainly because there was a perfect parking space right in front. Four of us stared at the place, at each other, shrugged and said, why not?. Small restaurant, rustic, Mexican décor and other art work that were nice. Were seated right away by a glass window. We were attended by people who likely members of what seemed like a family run restaurant. Service was personal and good. Decided to have a pitcher of fresh lime Margarita - right choice...perfect, refreshing. The chips and homemade salsa were good and the salsa was fresh with the right amount of tartness and heat. After scarfing down the tasty Jalapeno Poppers, we dined on authentic Mexican cuisine: Cabo Wabo San Lucas, Los Jalapenos Molcajete, Combinacion de Mole - generous servings all and super tasty. No leftover! Capped it all with a delicious Flan. Left the restaurant in a great mood (not just because of the Margarita) and very satisfied. Definitely worth a return visit when in this part of town.

After hiking in Minnewaska stopped in New Paltz for lunch. The colorful decorations of Los Jalapenos caught our eye. We were surprised at the menu selection and selected a couple of dishes to sample. The vegetarian chili relleno was delicious and the serving huge. The special of the day a spinach and shrimp quesadilla was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food, ambiance & friendly service.
