Stopped for a meal last night in their "restaurant" section. I ordered the stuffed trout for $25. I should have asked what it was stuffed with as I assumed it would be bread stuffing or crabmeat. It came out stuffed with 5 lemon slices! Further,...it came with a cup of drawn butter, which would be fine if I had ordered lobster. Silverware for the table was all in a metal tray for anyone to stick their fingers in and had but 3 forks (one with bent tines)! Further, their credit card machine asks for a tip when you pay and before you get your food. Not a good experience!More

I grew up in the Caribbean and know the difference between fresh and not-so-fresh seafood.....and I was impressed by Gadaleto's. The atmosphere is informal and far from fancy. You get the impression that this is a place to do some serious seafood eating....and it is....The business is a top shelf seafood market which serves what it sells. Go in and turn left at the door to access the market and you will see the freshness and quality of their goods. The restaurant is in a separate ambiance to the right. You order at the counter and the very friendly staff will deliver to your table. We had terrific fried calamari and some very yummy oysters which were paired with a couple of frigid Stellas. Without doubt, this is one of the best seafood restaurants in the area....it's a keeper.More

I don't know why we'd never tried at Gadaleto's before COVID. Since we stopped eating out at our regular places in March 2020, we decided to expand our horizon, and order out from new venues. Since we've discovered Gadaleto's, we just can't get enough of...their takeout cooked food. Prime quality seafood, cooked simply and deliciously. Can't wait for them to get back after the holiday break! Yummm...More

Came to buy fresh seafood for dinner. There were a wide array of options, we decided to go with bass. It was exceptional - fresh and wonderful flavor. Best place locally for seafood

Oysters, Fresh Fish, and quality have been the reasons we are frequent visitors to this restaurant. We like to bring friends to share the menu. The restaurant is not “romantic “, unless you put real value of food quality over view. This is the real...deal in quality fish prepared with knowledgeable chief.More

Really wanted to make clams and linguini for our New Year's Eve dinner and was so disappointed with the VERY SALTY clams I got from Gadaleto's. It was entirely inedible. I had to throw away the entire meal. Such a disappointment to put so much...time, effort, and money into a meal that ended up in the garbage. And embarrassing to have to explain to my guests.More

Four of us for dinner. Crab cakes were fresh and delicious! Entree salads were very large with good size portion of your choice of fish from the board cooked to your liking. All around a delightful experience. Excellent service too. Will be back!

The restaurant is 12 tables next to the market. The food is amazing. The fish is always fresh. The fried oysters are great and we just discovered the amazing apple fritter desert. Love this place!

Place is small as others noted. If one has to wait it gets crowded and you get hit with the entrance door in the back. No objection having to enter through the store and see all the fish. Actually interesting. While living in New Paltz...for 14 years only visited the place twice and now again to check if my initial evaluation still is valid. Unfortunately it is. Place is expensive and for the price the amount of fish one gets on a plate is more like an appetizer. Had steamed mussels and grilled salmon with 2 sides. I will give it that it is very fresh and tastes very good. Steamed mussels would have been better in a different broth (was wine) and maybe should be boiled in that broth. Not their fault, it's their style to offer, just not my taste in mussels. As for service there is only one knowledgeable person (Friendly, curly tall guy, who can't keep up with everything) , who can inform you about the type of the fish, what it tastes like and make recommendations. There is a fish board, one has to get up for to read what is fresh/latest catch. Just how difficult would it be to type up a sheet on the computer , print it out and put it into the menu for the day? Our waitress was attentive and friendly, but had none of the main guy's skills. In summary, not enough value for the money AND needs attention to detail. Again, to be fair the fish tasted excellent, so did Cole slaw and salad (was not asked for kind of dressing we would like) but at these prices one has to overlook a lot to give it more stars than I did.More

We had such a good meal here. We shared a not-so-simple salad (with beets, nuts and other good stuff) and lemon sole with garlic cream sauce, sweet potato fries and sautéed garlic snow peas. It was all perfectly prepared.

Our server, Nicholas was a delight. Informative, happy, and willing to find out answers, he gave me a taste of the Orvieto to make sure it was to my taste, rhapsodized about the marinara - which would make anyone’s taste buds sing, and contributed to...a fun evening. The calamari was crisply battered and wonderfully tender inside. Mary’s fried oysters were plentiful and perfect, with an excellent coleslaw, and my Fish and Chips was prepared English style. Or as we call it, enormous! If you are Loki g for an elegant evening out, this may not be it. But for good, honest, hearty, and truly tasty fish this restaurant would be hard to beat! Kudos to Chef Matt for the marinara, and for everything else too...More

What keeps Galdaleto's from getting an excellent is that the dining space is small and rather plain. Also, the entrance is through the fish store, and the view in the dining area is of the main street that goes through the town. Service was friendly...but a bit slow. The quality, quantity and price of the food is what keeps me coming back.More

Food was very good. Nice fresh seafood. Their fried oysters were fresh and not overly breaded, just right with nice crispness. The Diablo lobster was very good and spicy the way my wife likes it. Good size portion. Service was nice and friendly. Their homemade...apple fritter for desert was outstanding. Never had anything as fresh and good tasting built around an apple slice for each fritter.More
