With dining rooms that feature exquisite architecture and a sense of history, Garvan’s itself is a destination and gathering place. The highly trained staff at Garvan’s will see to it that you enjoy every aspect of your experience here.
This place is off the beaten path. We started with the Leek and Potato Soup. It was probably the best I've ever had. My wife had the Shrimp & Butternut Squash Ravioli. She loved it. I had the Seafood Trio (Wild Salmon over Parmesan Risotto,...More

On a col, rainy evening, Garvan’s was a warm, cozy and delicious place for dinner. Seated promptly, with good service throughout the evening, we were all pleased with our meals. We topped off the evening sharing Garvan’s wife’s Guinness chocolate cake— yum!

Garvan’s is one of our favorite places to eat in New Paltz. Owner Garvan is friendly to all and remembers your name. We enjoy the Irish music on certain nights, especially Mary Stuart once a month, and the Irish home cooking.

No views of the Hudson. You will have to go to Newburgh waterfront restaurants. In Poughkeepsie;Shadows, Riverview, Ice House for those views or go to Cold Spring and eat in the Hudson House which borders the Hudson River. The best thing to do is dine late afternoon, early evening wherever and take a drive down to Newburgh waterfront, and saunter along the waterfront. The same goes for sitting along the river in Cold Spring enjoying the captivating view of nature.
