Good for lunch. Had Moussaka and Greek salad. Good and plentiful. Good alternative to chains and burgers. Good service. Well attended at noon.

We ordered the Gyro Platter and the Moussaka. With the Gyro Platter we ordered the Greek salad and with the Moussaka we ordered the Greek Soup-avgolemono. The Greek soup has chicken, rice, lemon, and egg. Both the Greek salad and the Greek soup were very...good. Additionally, pita pieces were included with the entrees. We ordered the fries with the Gyro Platter and orzo with the Moussaka. The moussaka was excellent. The eggplant was fresh and had an earthy taste. The Gyro platter was not as good. The lamb was dry and overcooked. This Gyro Platter has large thick pieces of lamb instead of the thin shaved pieces of lamb on gyros. Everything else was excellent. The restaurant is small, about a dozen tables with chairs in a small dinning area. We think there is very limited outdoor seating. When we entered the restaurant there were no tables available. We sat at the small counter, four seats. Within minutes there was a waiting line for tables. There is a relatively small parking lot. We had to park on the street. The service was very good and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant is located on the left side of Route 42-Pleasant Street -as you enter Monticello from Route 17.More
Great place for a sandwich on the way down to NYC area. Service was good, food was great - gyro, portabello panini, fries. I will be back!
This was our first trip to Yanni's and I would defintely come back to try more of the menu. (Dimotri's homeade desserts looked amazing but we were full from the meal). The toasted pitas with fresh tzatziki sauce were a delicious app! I wanted a...lighter gyro, so the crepe sandwich was perfect. I had a savory veggie crepe with grilled peppers, eggplant and mushrooms, onions and creamy, melted feta cheese. It came with a soup or salad option, the pita wedges mentioned above, oven roasted veggies and a choice of orzo or fries. I had the avgolemono soup (greek chicken soup) in a cup, pita, orzo and a roasted veggie (I think it was zucchini). I felt like I has such a filling meal, and it was almost completely comprised of vegetables. My boyfriend got a platter with spanakopita, kabobs, and a few other things. He enjoyed everything on his plate too.More
I've been to Yanni's several times, and keep going back because it's great. The food is super tasty, the vibe is great, there's outdoor seating, and it's affordable. Coffee is surprisingly super good, and I highly recommend the dolmades and greek salad.
I ordered a veggie gyro it was disappointing. This is the third time I got something from there and it’s not appetizing. Whom ever is making the veggie meals are using old vegetables. Thank you so much for ruining my lunch 🙄
Every time I go there they call me by name! The food is amazing. The service is great. Is does get very busy at lunch time but worth the wait. Love the staff and owner! Great people!!!
Tried small restaurant in an unlikely place. My partner and I had been traveling throughout northern Europe, expecting little more than a fast sandwich. Everything, from the eggplant to the meat, was just right.
The best food and best service around the area. This place is always packed at lunch time. The i were are simply wonderful people.
the people who owned the restaurant and cooked the food certainly were authentic, and in my opinion so was the food. i thought it was excellant and most reasonable. i highly recommend you try it for yourself.
We dined here for 3 nights in a row while we were in the area. We absolutely loved it. It’s always busy and the food is delicious. Fast service and big portions. Highly recommend!
Yanni used to work at the Blue Horizon Diner before opening his restaurant, first in Liberty, and then on Pleasant St. in Monticello, NY. He has created a wonderful little restaurant. Yanni's is a high quality restaurant with cafe prices and atmosphere. The owner is...likewise high quality and uses only the best ingredients. You will enjoy the food and the dining experience. If not, tell Yanni and he will correct it immediately.More
Menu items have greek names but the food is definitely not greek. Taste is very bland, greek food has a lot of garlic, which was missing. Variety is also limited. Overall, I was not impressed
For authentic style Greek food with a friendly owner and even friendlier staff this would be your choice. The Gyros we ordered, traditional beef and lamb, and the poultry gyro were huge, and very tasty. It's always crowded, and for good reason.
Kudos to the very pleasant staff. It was crowded during a summer Thursday night and they maintained their smiles. Of the very extensive menu, hubby had a beef smothered in onions that was very good and their French fries are excellent. I had the chicken...soup, delicious and the Gyro platter but the slices of meat had been fried? Why? OMG I’ve had acidity for three days now. A good place to grab a quick bite.More
