A very lively and popular drinking and dinning spot on Main Street. Music on most nights. Lots of outdoor seating.

Don't waste your time on this over-priced dumpster unless you truly are a tourist (aka sucker). Hostess was extremely rude, unprofessional, and wasted myself and my partie's time continuously promising we would be seated "in 10 minutes" until we were told if we didn't like...it to "eat somewhere else. Well, we did. And now they have our money. And tip. Educate your hostess, she's awful.More

We are so apologetic for your unpleasant interaction with the hostess that evening. It can often be difficult to estimate the time it takes for a table to become available and she should have erred on a much longer wait than to have you be...More

I’ve walked past this place before but never tried it. The gf had to use the bathroom so I said let’s pop in for a drink. We ended up staying for lunch and it was amazing! Owen our bartender was very nice and accommodating. All...questions about the menu and substitutions were welcomed with a genuine (and cute) smile. The service exemplary...I recommend the grilled shrimp on the appy menu and salads delicious! I’m coming back to Montauk next month with my mom and will def bring her here. Music awesome too!!More

This restaurant is not that big but mostly outdoors. It’s very nice on a nice day and the food wasn’t bad. It could be a long wait depending on the day you go. we had to wait 45 mins to sit but that’s because we...went on Labor Day. I would recommend this restaurant. Kid friendly too.More

The gigshack is conveniently located on Montauk Highway. We went as a family of 4 for an early dinner to beat the crowds. We had a nice table outside. The service was good and the people were friendly. The food is causal and the menu...is quite simple but very good. The fish tacos were great and the drinks were great too. The portion of the kids menu is very small compared to other restaurants. It is ok for very little kids but may not be enough for a 9/10 year old.More

We went here because of the positive reviews, because it is one of the few pet friendly places in the area, and because it is near our motel. Firstly, the menu online had cheaper prices than the current edition..sometimes quite a difference. Market pricing perhaps?...Anyway, coming from a region that is also highly priced (and enjoying Greenwich, CT and Fairfield County), nonetheless we were shocked at the prices in Montauk, and Gigshack fits right in. $38 for a lobster roll with potato chips! $12 for a side of grilled asparagus! The crowds (and the amount of children) amazed me. I wanted a lobster roll (although I'm not as taken with the mayo-based sort, I wouldn't throw one away either) - although putting it on a croissant didn't really appeal. Regardless I had been waiting for this trip to partake. I was willing to pay a premium. But there's a line, and Montauk crosses it. So I had the puttanesca, very good, but a small portion. My husband had the two fish tacos, also good. No appetizers, no dessert; a diet soda and an iced tea. Now, the iced tea had fallen into that disagreeable state of having been left around so that it tasted dishraggy. That usually doesn't happen in good restaurants (or even at Denny's). I was going to ask for it to be replaced, but the server never came back. No one asked how we liked our meals or if we needed anything. When we left, $80 lighter for a small amount of good but not extraordinary grub, there was a 45 minute wait to get in. Inexplicable, especially since they didn't even have dogs.More

I’ve eaten at the Gig Shack over the years my friends and I have been coming to Montauk. So let’s say 6-8 times in total. It’s usually pretty good. I like that you can walk in from Mtk Highway without a big fuss. We like...to order the tuna tartare taquitos and billy goat salad. Those fried goat cheese balls are like little bites of heaven. This time around, however, our appetizers were never brought to us. We had to ask and they were delivered after our mains without an apology. The billy goat salad had old wilty sad lettuce. Some of the ends had started browning. The curry mussels I ate tasted watery and had almost no flavor (how is that even possible!). Everything that was ordered hot was cool. I think they forgot about us. Not sure what happened this trip, but it’s enough to make me second guess a return visit when there are so many other places to go.More

Gig Shack Located in town, the Gig Shack caters mostly to the young, chill, surfing crowd. The food is good, and there are plenty of vegetarian options. The grilled broccolini, fish tacos and grilled shrimp were quite tasty and fun to share. The standouts, however,...were the cocktails. The key lime martinis were really fantastic. The vibe is young, fun, relaxed and beach loving. Walking to Gig Shack for a late lunch (and cocktail) after shopping in town or a day at the beach is a really good choice! Enjoy!More

A cool place in town with the best fish tacos I've ever had. Our server really made sure we had a nice evening - even moving us to an outdoor table at the beginning when she could see we weren't happy where we were. Great...vibe, great night.More
