The food was just average, the cucumber gin fizz was delicious. The service was good but they had no working bathroom. We were told we could go use the bathroom at the restaurant next door by the waitress but was met with distain from the hostess at Shagwon who just pointed at a sign in their window and kept telling me no public bathroom despite me saying that Grace at the restaurant next door told me that there was arrangement to use their bathroom as they didn’t have a functioning one . I’m sure it can’t be board of health approved to have a restaurant functioning with no working bathroom .

Forgive me for not seeing this sooner. It sometimes happens that... things happen! Generally good neighbors help each other out in a pinch. It's unfortunate that whoever you spoke to at Shagwon was not gracious, it can be difficult to get an entire staff up to speed on all a days happenings.
Montauk is a small old town and in need of some improved services, the people are working on it.

The Gig Shack is awesome! Trendy delicious food and great cocktails. They had simple picnic table seating where we sat outside and that was great for our kids. Portion size was just right to leave room for some key lime pie!
Recommend the mussels, fish tacos, and ribs…any of them with the blueberry lemonade cocktail!

First…the food and service were great. Honest food that is hand prepared with care. I has the fish sandwich and my husband had the lobster roll. We both loved the food. The place is a little tight in the seating department and the prices are high. Over $100 for two people to each basically eat sandwiches with NO wine or beer (we both has iced tea) is a bit much. I don’t know how a family could afford to have a lunch here.

It does not look like much - or much different than other local places - but we stumbled into the Gig Shack and had some terrific drinks from bartender Juan. We returned a couple of days later for lunch. The burger and fries were very good. The lobster roll was unconventional but delicious, stuffed into a croissant. The other dishes that passed us looked great. Lots of edible flowers, colorful and different. The tacos looked wonderful. Recommended.

we had a family lunch at that place today and it was disappointing. Firstly we were greeted at the entrance and promptly seated, so far so good. Our waiter was attentive and pretty quick. But then one of a sudden a lady who was sitting across to us started to point at something under our table ... It was a mouse! Actually I saw two of them running next to the wall ... I understand that it might have come from the adjacent building or from some other place down the street, but still .. Anyways our food arrived in a bit and it was average at best. My tacos were cold, my wife's coleslaw was probably made a while ago and didn't smell good at all. My conclusion - it's not very clean and severely overpriced.

This place is over rated, small over priced portions, inattentive service and attitude from the staff. The best employee was the bus boy. The hostess was rude, told us we had a 30 minute wait, understood, but started to seat her friends or the young men who bantered with her, who just walked up, while we waited. Food was just okay. Major disappointment after reading previous reviews.

We both had ribs and coleslaw. The ribs were not special, seemed packaged, not fresh and the sauce was too sweet. Coleslaw was home made if I remember correctly. My partner hated the cornbread but I loved it. Pretty sweet.
But the fabulous Lemoncello Marscapone cake was the saving grace. I know Gig is supposed to be known for key lime pie but, trust me, skip that old favorite and go with the Lemoncello instead.

Three of us stopped in for lunch while passing by and we weren't disappointed. We were seated immediately, at an outside sidewalk table, which normally I don't like, but it had an awning and a "wall" of planters surrounding it so it wasn't like being on the sidewalk.
The food was excellent. I had the grilled chicken sandwich on a croissant. I don't know what they do to that chicken, but it was amazing. My sister had the fish tacos, which she really liked. Lots of people around us were ordering them too so they must be good. My niece had a burger, which was standard fare, it was cooked perfectly.
Everyone had a piece of pineapple on their plate. That was a nice touch, and it was good, sweet pineapple and a nice complement.
Was it a bit pricey? Yea but hello! you're in Montauk, what do you expect and it wasn't any worse than most places nowadays.
Our server was attentive and nice.
The only thing I didn't like was the cheap plastic cups they gave us for water and my drink. They sort of bent in your hand. I thought maybe it was because we were outside, the people drinking wine had glass. They gave me a paper straw with a disposable cup - seems silly.

My go to for food to go or eat in/ love sitting at an outdoor table watching the pretty girls in bikini prancing by, like in the South of France. Sometimes live music. Eat local but think Global: surf Cuisine.

My wife and I really enjoyed this place. We had seen positive stuff here on TA and when we were walking by, it looked inviting.
We sat outside in front, very comfortable. Service was excellent (thanks Blaine) and food was fantastic . We split a delicious lobster roll on a croissant and fish (halibut) tacos in a hard shell. We also had the carrot side dish. Food was really good, served promptly, everything was fresh and delicious.

DO NOT GO HERE. Terrible and rude service. We arrived with our 3 year old and two grandparents, to a nearly empty restaurant, and the guy at the front was extremely rude. Refused to serve us even if we got food to go. Meanwhile our child was being very well behaved. Waiter had terrible and arrogant attitude.

This place is amazing. Awesome food and atmosphere. Everything we ordered was so fresh and delicious. I had the fish tacos best I ever had, we had the empanada also and Tuna tar tar, delicious. We were a group of 7 and every single dish was better than the next. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Great drink options as a well. Not be missed when in Montauk.

Fun, festive and just delicious! Busy place to eat in or outside. Lots of seafood choices but we are land lubbers so we had the organic chicken sandwich. Outstanding!! The other plates going by looked wonderful too! Evening entertainment added more fun. Great service, super clean, great staff!

Do NOT miss this spot!! The food is AMAZING the service excellent and the decor is so fun and inspiring. Had the spanakopita and fish tacos. The spanakopita was the BEST I’ve ever had! Amazing couscous. Not sure why this is number 3 place...it should be number 1!

Now that they have their liquor licence back we went for lunch and as expected the food was good. Good bet for lunch and sometimes they have live music. Drinks are good but late night the bar is sketchy and the owners and staff have been involved in some shaky stuff so I prefer to frequent during the day. Desserts are really good so save room. As for the reviewer complaining about the bathrooms, better to close them than have them running all over the floor as they did a few summers ago.
