Simple, yet delicious

I did not know what to expect when I ate here last night. However, my experience was terrific. The owner works every day and prepares all the meals himself. He keeps a fairly simple menu, however the quality is top notch. Is you are looking for anything with cream cheese or mayo, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for quality sushi that's super fresh, make sure you stop by.

Excellent Sushi and Sashimi

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner meal consisting of teriyaki salmon, spicy tuna and yellowtail sushi with all of the traditional sides miso, tempura and rice). Very fresh, tasty and good prices. We will definitely come back again.

Fantastic Little Japanese Joint

We had a great experience at this restaurant. The staff was so friendly and courteous. The food was delicious, both the sushi and the teriyaki. We will definitely return! *Note that this is a SMALL restaurant- 4 little tables or so, plus counter seats- so plan accordingly if you have a large party or plan on going during a busy time.

Mediocre food, service & atmosphere. Very underwhelming. Tempura was good, but would not go back.

Very underwhelming experience. Service was mediocre. Miso soup was not great. I added soy sauce in hopes of making it better. The vegetable tempura was wonderful, but it was a very small portion for the dinner size and it was served on a plate on top of napkins. The server was nice but not very friendly and came across very abrupt. When we paid she immediately came back for our credit card slips with a vibe of, "Go home now." Food was very mediocre though we didn't order any sushi, so maybe that would have been better? I don't plan to eat here again ever. Super mediocre food, service & atmosphere.

stopped here after a long day of driving. hadn't had sushi in a while so we were really looking forward to it. we didn't order anything fancy, just basic stuff. the miso soup was good, but other than that it was just okay.

I am not sure if the majority of the reviewers live under a rock, but this is quite possibly the worse meal I have ever paid for. My husband and I ordered the chicken teriyaki, which was a chicken breast out of the refrigerator, hard carrots, broccoli and white rice. A fourth grader could have made the same meal for $10. Our drinks were flat and even though the owner was nice, it did not make up for the meal. I have traveled the world and this is laughable.

bad food, no respect to customers

just visited Minami for lunch- the owner was talking to two japanese ladies and i occupied the second table- no more clients:( He told me that the menu is on the fourth table- never came to me to get the order! Took it from his counter... sunomono was just cucumbers sluced abd served from the fridge in 1 minute, tempura soba had nothing to do with authentic japabese soba - awful:( my parents worked in Japan for 20 years and I was grown up there so i could understand their talk for 40 minutes. No attention to me as a customer at all- rude!!! I had to call him in japanese to get a check, NO RESPECT at all , has nothing to do with japanese culture and food quality!!!

Minami Japanese Restaurant

The best steamers with fabulous broth! Excellent beef teriyaki, a great noodle dish and, of course, good sushi. A small, intimate neighborhood restaurant. With great service and a gracious, joyous owner, Yoshi, who is a virtuoso cook. Food is 5 star. You also must try the hot Sake!

Awesome little Sushi place!

Hubby doesn't like sushi, but I do. Our host suggested Minami so we gabe it a shot. So glad we did! Yummy sushi, hubby had the teritaki chicken with tempura veghies and we both left full and happy. Service was impeccable and friendly!

Odin and Sushi were bad taste

The owner treated customers really terrible. When we ordered food owner only one person was in the restaurant. We were seating at the table he was inside kitchen. He took order from inside kitchen. He didn't smile he was like mad man. Eventually we had food. we ate udon and sushi. We disappointed the food. Bad service, Bad food, I felt like Waste Money.

Fresh, delicious sushi! (and other stuff :))

We arrived right around 7pm and this place filled up fast after that! Our service was punctual and our sushi was delicious. The menu is just the right size to get what you need. Other options beside sushi as well. In April, they closed at 830 with a limited menu (I believe just sushi rolls, after 730) so plan accordingly for your party's menu needs or call to check.

Great Sushi!

We stopped in for sushi, which was excellent but they do have many other dishes! Food is well prepared and delicious! Definitely worth stopping for. Plenty of Parking and Easy Access off Hwy 179.

Great food, excellent service

Good food takes time to prepare, so don't go here and complain about the wait time. We ordered sushi and chicken tempura. Both were outstanding and more than well worth the wait. Good sake too. Highly recommended.
