We hadn't even stepped foot inside before we knew that we had discovered a true gem. Chef John came ambling out of the door and greeted us like long lost family with his warm, energetic personality. After a few minutes, we felt as though we...had happily know him for years. AND WHAT A CHEF!! Everything we ordered, from the appetizers to the desserts, was crafted to perfection in both method and presentation. Both John and the owner were sure to stop by the table to chat and make sure we were happy. The hospitality, food, wine and ambiance all intertwined to created a lovely, beautiful and most memorable evening that we will remember for years to come.More

My husband and I drove all the way from Syracuse and were not disappointed. Everything was phenomenal. The shrimp appetizer is a must! The sparkling brut was delicious. The filet was incredible (especially for someone who mostly eats plant based). And the service was so...kind! The chef came out to say hi a few times and made our experience that much more special! We loved the atmosphere so much! Lots of beautiful paintings to look at! We will be back! Oh and please try the creme brûlée and strawberry lemon cake! It’s names after the chefs wife! Loved it!More

This place is well worth the visit! As the halfway point between Albany and Syracuse we were looking for a good dinner stop... and this placed DELIVERED. Besides being absolutely talented, the chef was kind and exciting. We had the special - lobster ravioli. The...chef then treated us to a free dessert! Located right on the canal, in a quaint historic part of town Canalside is one of upstate’s best kept secrets.More

We didn’t dine here (probably our loss), but we stayed in one of the rooms in the inn. It was remarkably spacious and comfortable with an enormous bathroom. We would happily stay here again!

I had the Bifteck Au Poivre Josephine (NY Strip w peppercorn sauce) 2 nights in a row. Cooked perfectly(medium rare) Delicious! I could have cut the steak with a butter knife, no joke. Also had the bread pudding for dessert, best I’ve ever had. Chef...John is an amazing chef & even greater host with a great personality. Megan was our waitress and made sure our visit went without a hitch. She even put beers on ice just for us! Oh yeah they make a great Margherita as well. Looking forward to our next tripMore

EXTRAORDINARY !!!!! What a Pleasant Surprise after a long day of cycling on the Erie Canal Trail.....A Hidden Gem! Staff was very Friendly and Overly Accommodating! We were a party of 4. Shortly after being seated at our table, studying the many fine choices on...the menu, we were welcomed by Chef John. Chef John is a very friendly gentlemen who took the time to explain, in detail, all the menu options. He then went Above and Beyond to customize each of our choices to our individual likes/tastes. We ordered: Beef Wellington, Veal Chop, Tenderloin and Swordfish....Each entree arrived at the table PERFECTLY prepared with an over the top presentation!! Our overall dining experience was Beyond our wildest expectations!!!! Thank you, Chef John and the entire Staff at the Canal Side Inn....We can't wait to return <3!!!!!More

Three of us bike riding the Erie Canal Trail, rode into Little Falls on a drizzly 7th day in the early afternoon to be met at the Canal Side Inn by an exuberant, delightful bear of a man dressed in matching beret and pants of...chili peppers. Meet Chef John, the personable, talented and enthusiastic Chef of the Canal Side Inn. Of course we chose to have dinner here later that day. Dinner was incredible from the appetizer, to the mouth watering main courses, to the delicious desserts. Complimenting the dining experience was a very professional and accommodating wait and kitchen staff. Do yourself a favor and make it a point to dine here if ever in Little Falls!!More

My sister and I were looking for a place to grab a small bite and beverage. While Canal Side is known for its upscale dining in a chic new atmosphere, we decided to get dessert and an adult beverage. She chose the strawberry cake slice,...and I had a wonderful cheesecake. We were able to chat with Chef John, and also with the best bartender in Little Falls, Henry. What a fun and laid back afternoon it was! Exactly what we were looking for. I definately recommend Canal Side, either for a quick bite, a drink with friends, or an elegant dinner (socially distanced, of course). With a flavorful and diverse menu, you will not be disappointed.More

I agree with James above, the facility is big enough, but are they willing to devote the place to a large party? Is it even available on the date in question? Those questions can only be answered by the proprietor, so why... More
