As someone who tries to support local wherever I travel....I start with home. "Mr & Mrs Yoshi" are the best! Authentic, fresh, made to order. Not feeling well? Mrs may remedy up some tea for you. Great value for the price and accommodating. LY, they...had their retirement savings stolen from their home- so sad. Needless to say, I frequent when I can. You will not be disappointed. Most do TakeAway...there are a few tables inside but cannot be used during Covid. Enjoy!More

I've heard good things about this place so I went after work. Woman was very unwelcoming. I was by myself and there were no available seats at counter. She would not let me sit at an empty table and made no other offerings. I did...not feel welcome and took my business elsewhere.More

I live in Chicago and have enjoyed Japanese cuisine all over the world. Yoshi Sushi is world class. It is my favorite kind of place. It is just Yoshi and his wonderful wife, Jan The quality of his fish is top notch and he is...truly a master, If I lived in Albany I would eat here every week. If you want authentic Japanese cuisine, this is it and it is very reasonably priced for the quality here.More

Small, locally owned, high quality. It's not someplace to go with a large group or if you're in a hurry. There is also no alcohol but you can BYOB if you like. I frequent for lunch and at times a take home dinner.

My master plan is that if Yoshi adopts me and becomes my dad, he would have to feed me sushi for free. He may also pass on some of his secrets to me as well. Not to sound cheap, I will gladly pay for sushi...from Yoshi. It is by far the best bang for your buck in the capital district. Yoshi’s quality and preparation alone far exceeds any restaurant I’ve been to in the area. Yoshi’s sushi is so good, that I rarely eat sushi anywhere else. So much so that I am more of a groupie than a regular. Ps. If you are a the kind of person that says they like sushi, but your favorite sushi is, “the extra spicy deep fried volcano dragon philly roll with extra spicy mayo on the side” kind of person, Yoshi is probably not your guy. He makes sushi. Cashme@yoshiMore

My first time here and I am so happy to find this location. Perfect miso soup and some of the best quality maki I have had in a long time. This mom and pop style establishment is must if you like quality over frills.

Do not expect extra sauces and crazy jumbo chef special rolls at this place. This is a more authentic sushi presentation, which really lets their freshest fish shine on its own. This is a MUST TRY if you're a sushi lover!!!

I really don't want to make Yoshi Sushi any more popular than it is, but it is worth the wait. Beautifully prepared dishes. It doesn't hurt that Yoshi and Yan are so sweet.

I can’t believe so many years may have passed since we last had sushi from Yoshi. So many people have said the best sushi they’ve had in the Capital region was at or from Yoshi. But we kept on trying new places over the years...as each one opened. None of them that are still in business today ever became a regular for us. Some had better and fresher sushi than others, and some offered fancier and bigger maki (rolls) that were almost a meal in themselves. But I think we may now start returning to Yoshi’s to make it our regular sushi place. It’s a warm and inviting, no frills type of place. First of all, the Miso Soup is just the way we like it. It is flavorful with just enough dashi, tofu, seaweed, and green onion. But most important is the freshness of all the fish used in the sushi. We had probably ten different fish on this visit and all of it was deliciously fresh. A real positive for my wife was the size of the maki pieces. She was able to easily place a whole piece of maki in her mouth without biting it and having all the remaining contents fall apart. The nigiri have an ample amount of fresh fish on each ball of rice allowing for two or three bites. Just looking at the pictures provided by reviewers should be enough to encourage you to visit. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of what is served. Interestingly, a comparison with a menu from seven years ago shows many prices have not changed. Service was friendly, fast and efficient. Large cups of hot tea were offered as soon as we sat down and refilled as needed. Yoshi Sushi does not have an alcohol license, but their web page says BYOB.More

This is the "go to" Sushi spot in the Albany area. Mr. Yoshi prepares everything himself and it's fresh!
