The Epicurean is an authentic French bistro, the only one in the Capital Region of New York. The Chef-owner is French Canadian. Our food is classic French with a Mediterranean twist...Provencal or North African spicing. There are many classic menus items such as Escargot, Frogs Legs, Steak Tartare and Steak Frites. The ambiance is casual. We are a Wine Spectator Award-winning restaurant with a 2200 bottle wine cellar with a significant offering of French wines. Our wine bar has an extensive selection of beers and a full bar. Come and dine with us and experience not an eating, but a dining experience.

Met a friend for a glass of wine and a light nibble after work late in the afternoon. She had been to the bistro for lunch, but I hadn't been in the restaurant previously, though I'd heard good things about it. It was mid-week, so not at all crowded. The ambiance, like a classic French bistro, is warm and inviting.... More

I went there to celebrate a major event, I wasn't disappointed. The meals were very good. We had the duck, a club sandwich, the pumpkin risotto and an omelette. Everyone was happy with their meal. As a dessert we had a creme brulee, made with several flavors, very interesting and very good, and the alsacian apple pie. We could also... More

The ambiance is very special at Epicurean. The menu was interesting, including many unusual selections you don't find elsewhere and the food was delicious. The presentation was beautiful. This is a great restaurant for a casual night out or a special occasion!

Stopped here for a light lunch. Very well-prepared, with fresh ingredients and good bread. Pleasant atmosphere. We will be back for a dinner here.

Four of us had dinner here. None of us had ever been before. "French Bistro", to us, says "expensive and not much food". Price-wise, it is on the high end for this area, but there was plenty of food, all delicious, and all beautifully presented. We also loved the decor and service. We all agreed we would return for another... More

My partner and I ate here after a good friend got us an Amazon Social deal for 2-for-1 three-course meal. While the premise was enticing, French food at a locally known bistro-the actual meal was not as amazing as the hype. While we did get three well proportioned items, the food itself was less than stellar. The first course, soup,... More

Good food. Good wine pairing with diner input. These dinners are always a fun, delicious and educational event! Daily menu and wine list offers wonderful selections throughout the year.

I am a resident of California, but every time I travel to the Albany area I eat here. It is one of the gems of upstate New York, and has a wonderful combination of traditional French fare (steak au poivre, steak tartare, coq au vin, escargot, grenouilles) and seasonal dishes (trout, scallops, lamb) that are expertly prepared with wonderful sauces... Always come here before we go to local theater and we are never disappointed. If you like French Bistro food you need to try the Salted Cod Gratinee. The pate was excellent and the selection of wines by the glass is well chosen.
