There is an old Latin expression that says, “taste can not be disputed”. I’m my opinion this is the best Chinese restaurant in the Capital District. For many reasons, we had stopped being frequent diners, but returning was like going home. A warm welcome, and...great food in a perfect dining environment made this a great evening. We will look forward to our return.More

My husband and I enjoy the most delicious food. I am gluten free and had the beef chow fun. Amazing! My husband had a hot beef and Chinese vegetable. Really good. The sauteed chinese broccoli was so fresh. A must try is their black sesame...and green tea ice. The server was very attentive to my dietary needs. We picked up take out dinner for the whole family since we live an hour away. We will definately come back.More

Holy smokes! This was just what the dr ordered! Because of COVID we had to get to go, but it was still amazing. Soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, mini pork buns, chicken fried rice and broccoli in garlic sauce. I 100% recommend this place!

First, the great: food - fabulous menu, sooo many choices, absolutely delicious, way above the standard Chinese restaurant fare. Attentive service from our extremely busy waiter. Slightly disappointing: the restaurant was packed, and we had a significant wait despite the fact that we had a...reservation. But - it was well worth it!More

Everything about Ala Shanghai is 5 star! The extensive menu has something for everybody and is loaded with authentic dishes. The Peking Duck was perfect! The service was very attentive and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I plan on going back soon.

This was our first visit but it definitely will not be our last. It was super busy but we were not made to feel rushed. Everything that we ordered was the best that either of us ever tasted of that item. Huge portions and all...around magnificent meal!More

We've only tried their take out so far, but haven't been very impressed. High prices for average food. The moo shu pork was too salty and the not near full quart container of West Lake beef soup, at $10,felt like a rip off. The $11...vegetable lo mein was limp and oily, with no life or crunch to it. From their menu it appears that they specialize in more exotic and much more expensive dishes, but, based on our experience so far, I'd be leery of plunking down $30+ for one of those 'specialty' items.More

Super service. White tablecloth fancy, bit not too fancy. Generous servings. Yummy food with leftovers to take home. A classier version of the Chinese food to which we are accustomed. Try it; you'll like it (unless you are really set in you ways).

Now I know why this is the Number 1 Chinese restaurant in the area. From the moment you enter, until you leave, they provide the utmost attention to detail with excellent, friendly, and quick service. The food comes out very quick, hot and is the...best tasting Chinese in the area, hands down. The hot and sour soup is very flavorful. The General Tso’s Chicken was the best ever. The fish filet with snow pea and bamboo was not only different for a lunch special, but very tasty with a fantastic sauce. The eggplant with garlic sauce was tender and flavorful. All around a great meal. We will be back to sample other entries. Very friendly atmosphere.More
