I've been visiting Charlie's since "Charlie" was really there. I went there with my parent as a kid and relatives as a young adult. Now whenever my husband and I visit the Adirondacks, we visit Charlies for meals and/or a drink. We know the owners...John and Jill and there is always a friendly "Hey welcome back!" The menu has many choices and the Beer battered fried haddock is a must, even for those of us who don't eat fried food !! Likewise the sweet potato fries. However the other fish dishes, burgers and appetizers are fine as well. In the warm weather sitting out on the porch is so Adirondack. This is not the ritz, it is an Adirondack pub/restaurant and it meets the rustic style and atmosphere every time. I am not a snowmobiler, but i know this place hops during snow season and I can certainly picture arriving to a pint and a hot meal after a day out in the cold. We will continue to return whenever we can !More

We stay at Charlie's in the campground whenever we get a contract in the high peaks. We make sure to eat in the restaurant at least once a week. The food is surprisingly good and varied, and inexpensive, and the atmosphere is homey and woodsy,...the people - both staff and guests - are always friendly. You can't go wrong.More

A friend and I stopped in to try their burgers. It was a beautiful drive through the Fall Colors and gorgeous lake (Lake Clear). The town itself is small but has a couple of other eating establishments as well. The building is fairly large and...houses a bar and a sit down eating area. I've been here before on motorcycle charity rides and have always found the bar to be friendly with quick service. I hadn't eaten here yet. We came in, were greeted immediately and seated. While the waitress took our drink order, we looked around the cool decor - lots of stuffed animal heads, hunting/fishing antiques, and cool signs. We ordered medium wings for an appetizer - they were excellent. The wings were meaty, lightly battered and seasoned well. I'd recommend them highly. We also ordered burgers - with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion. They came out cooked to our specifications (Medium rare for me and medium for my buddy). The meat was very lightly seasoned and was almost a bit bland. The toppings were a bit thickly/crudely sliced and I had to remove some of the raw onion so it wouldn't overpower the meat. The buns were a bit soft and became soggy quickly. Mine came with excellent onion rings and my buddy had the homemade fries, which he said were very good. Service was pretty good, although a bit slow on refills and checking up on us. Prices are very good. If I am in the area again, I would stop in and try the specials. On this night, most of the customers were ordering the fried fish - big portions of freshly fried fish that looked exceptional.More

My wife and I were taking a road trip through the high peaks area of the Adirondacks for her birthday. We had decided to have dinner at Charlie’s because it looked like an interesting place and the ratings on its food were good. We were...very disappointed. It is an interesting place but the food was sub par. My wife had the turkey dinner which she said was good - real turkey. I had the roast beef dinner. It was the driest most unappealing roast beef I have ever had. It looked like it had been over cooked to start, then left out to dry, and then heated in a microwave. We will not be returning.More

We had a meet and greet for about 50 people at Charlie’s Inn. Aside from locals and campers, this late 1800’s train stop provided food and lodging and a bar stop for weary travelers. Adorned with a stuffed coyote, a pool table, and a typical...country bar scene, this places offers old time charm, and a nice way to relax and take in the intoxicating atmosphere.More

Well, I grew up here so my review is always skewed to my hometown. But Charlie’s Inn is a great place to go, get some good food and enjoy friends and family. Five of us ate for $75. Very satisfied. Great wings and burgers. Staff...is courteous and very inviting. Just go😉More

We attended a family reunion at Lake Clear and the "overflow" family (those of us who couldn't fit into the cottages, stayed at Charlie's Inn. What a fantastic and unique place!! The owner, Jill, could not have been more hospitable & made us feel right...at home! The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and there is a bar/restaurant downstairs that is awesome! Great food and atmosphere and her young adorable granddaughter even helped serve :). One night there was even a live band playing classic rock. Highly recommend!!More

Good food at fair price. I like the turkey dinner. Great Adirondack atmosphere, good service. Highly recommend for a local Adirondack eating experience. Enjoy this off-beat local eatery.

Rustic, but a great menu, and the food was really good. Had anything we wanted at the bar and a variety of food options. Great service. The owner was was very personable, providing us an interesting history lesson regarding the Inn and it's surroundings. Awesome...experience and very inexpensive.More

NOT a greasy spoon experience... Charlie's Inn served my family and me excellent meals at 20% less cost than we would have paid in Saranac Lake. We're going back here!
