We enjoyed one of the nightly specials on our first visit. Food and service were great and we enjoyed visiting with the chef and some of his regular customers before we left. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped for lunch a week later on our way home from Albany!

For my taste Le Canard is the best French restaurant between NYC and Montreal. The food is exquisite, service perfect and atmosphere is lovely. They offer extensive specials in addition to their regular menu. It's always great and never disappoints. If your looking for fine dining in Ulster County Le Canard is your best bet!!

Fabulous meal. A must place to go! Small and quiet. Just might be the best place in town. After dinner we walked the old stockade area of uptown.

Tried the place out for the first time with their Monday night $28 three course special. Truly enjoyed the bistro ambiance, attentive service, and delicious food. Be aware that the $28 menu is limited to certain items. Not an unusual practice, but if you go there with the expectation that you can order anything, you may feel disappointed. We definitely... The food is very expensive and much too rich for French fare. The walls are decorated with the most ugly photographs that were falling out of the frames. The person that took our order was very nice but I could not understand a word she was saying ... almost needed an interpreter. This was a very sad experience. Very high... More

We went here for the Monday night special. $28 per person for three courses- appetizer, Main and dessert. I had the duck pate, fish with lemon and capers and carrot cake. My husband had the salad, beef bourguignon and the tarte tatin. Everything was perfect! With an attentive staff, wonderful food and drink it made for a special evening.

The Chef (Jean-Jacques Carquillat) was ever present and was available to get immediate feedback on the dining experience. Food was prepared exceptionally well and the presentation excellent. Sadly, we were too sated to order and enjoy a very appealing desert! Great choice for anyone in the area!

We have been to this restaurant at least 10 times over the course of 20 years...every time we are "enchanted" by the food. The chef/owner is from France as are some of the waitstaff. Every dish is mouth watering. No surprise that it is considered to be the BEST French restaurant north of NYC<

Who would think one could find a truly excellent traditional French establishment in Kingston!? Very good wine list, good service and excellent food-it really works. Good for special occasions!
