This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had...from the decor to the dessert. We were staying at the spa next door and decided, for convenience really, to eat here. My friend and I both love steak so we were happy to try it. The whole meal was fantastic. We had appetizers, shared an enormous steak, and... More

Good place for steak, but the quality of the meat does not match the very high (Manhattan ) pricing. The sides are tasty and large and the service is excellent. Very good wine list. A comfortable setting for a good, quiet meal.

A good place to spend an evening over a stupendous meal and wine. I find menu is short but interesting and selective. Staff there is well knowledgeable and attentive. Homely environment though you miss bit of a music at background but you will not notice it while having supper.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at John Thomas Steakhouse. The service was attentive and friendly, het not too much so. I enjoyed a smoked trout appetizer and shrimp scampi entree while my husband was very pleased with his tomato and onion salad, filet mignon and onion rings. A highlight was a refreshing "Pear Martini" served in a... More

Walked here from firelight camp, where we were staying. Lobster bisque and fresh bread, then chicken with cream sauce and salmon, with green beans. Very good local beer from Ithaca brewery.

It's unclear how this place markets itself as a steakhouse, given their clear inability to cook a steak to temperature or without burning it. I first had to send my $50 filet back because it was charred and acrid and cooked more medium-well than medium-rare. The chef then inquired if he could butterfly it, which I agreed to and I... More

We live in the area, but hadn't eaten here in years. Since we were staying at the Inn, we decided to have our dinner at John Thomas, and it was just great. Lovely setting, there are different smaller rooms to sit in, and coming from New England I loved the feel of the place. Service was both friendly and attentive.... More

While staying at la tourelle we figured we'd give John Thomas a try. We were so delighted to turn it into a very special evening out. Thankfully, it was in June without any college parent visits. I'm sure it gets very busy for graduation etc, because it is truly an occasion restaurant. Ambience was classic and warm.
