I love Southern food and this place does not disappoint! Ordered the Fried Oysters which were so succulent and delicious, not those dried up oyster slivers iWonderful meal!n other places! Also had the Fried Green Tomatoes- yummo!- will be planting tomatoes this year just so I can have green ones again! For an entree, I had the Shrimp and Grits... More

If I had to pick my last meal right now, Maxie's would probably in the top five. After spending some time in the Gulf area, I moved to New York, where I had to leave my cajun food behind. Until I found Maxie's. A group and I made the trip, and when that group grew to 14+ people, I called... More

Excellent, authentic Cajun and Creole style food. A very nice bar with good craft brews and the freshest (if a bit pricey) oysters, clams, and shrimp (happy hour half price makes more affordable). The restaurant can be a bit noisy, but the food is great and the service solid.

We live almost an hour away, and heard very good things about Maxie's. Last night was our first visit, and it was the first of many to come. Everything was amazing - our waitress Kirsten was very knowledgeable and friendly, and all the waitstaff was very attentive and proficient. We loved the Corn Bread, Crab and Corn Chowder, the Fried... More

We enjoyed the atmosphere, staff and food at Maxie's. It was crowded, but it was Friday night. We spied the special dessert right away, so we saved room by having small meals. Ahi tuna that I had on my salad was a bit overdone, but not horribly so. My husband's Andouille sausage po'boy was to his liking. The dessert was... More

This used to be a fun, innovative restaurant, and the only one of it's kind in the area (serving cajun/southern style food). However, as time passed, they became complacent and now just sit on their laurels. For instance; the gumbo used to be full of shrimp and andouille sausage - last time we counted 4 shrimp and 2 pieces of... More

This is an excellent place to go as a small group for very good food. The atmosphere is communal and fun. The oysters are opened in front of you and the staff have a good nose for bad oysters which are discarded. The price is moderate for an overall highly recommended experience. I would say to anyone you have to... More

After a day at the wineries 4 of us, 2 couples dressed in our Mardis Gras garb stopped at Maxies for bite to eat to end our evening. The wait was reasonable, which gave us an opportunity to enjoy some oysters & clams. Our meals, shrimp n grits, steak, bbq shrimp and shooters were terrific. We had an excellent server, Megan &... We ended our Mardi Gras wine tour with a trip to Maxie's. They didn't let us down! Started with raw oysters and clams while waiting for our table. Our server grated fresh horse radish for our plate - yum! We came in to have fun, we had our beeds and masks, we joked with patrons and the staff - everyone... More

My fiance and I went to Maxie's on a Saturday night. Big mistake. There was nowhere to park nearby, the place was packed and we were told we'd have a 35 minute wait. We were lucky to only wait about 10 minutes and were seated in a dining room that was packed. The servers were clearly having trouble getting through... More
