The Red Dog Tavern is on the South Shore Road, making it less convenient for most of the people who visit the area, and yet there is practically always a line because the food is so great, the service is so friendly, and the atmosphere is so charming. Great burgers and BBQ, but also great salads. In seventeen years and... More

Made reservation, so did not wait, although the bar was big enough to do so with our party of 6. Place had flags from countries strewn on the ceiling. I thought weird, but then put there maybe for the 2016 Olympics???? Owner of bar (and major promoter) stopped at our table and told us about specials, along with t-shirts for... More

Heard from a friend that the Prime Rib was not to be missed. It didn't disappoint. Cooked to perfection and the garlic mashed potatoes were delicious. The portions were far beyond generous and we took a large portion home to enjoy again. If your in town on a Saturday night, check it out!

Every time we go by this place is closed. I heard it was hopping but apparently they don't need the business, Don't waste the trek out there. They turn you away so they can shut down before 10 pm. There is a bar in there too.

We went here on a Tuesday nite (party of 12 !!!) and were happily accommodated within 30 minutes. Went here because of the TERRIBLE reviews of Daiker's Tavern a little further away. We weren't disappointed. My only complaint was that they specialize in Prime Rib (it was even on the Specials board that night) but we're told they only offer... More

Can't come to Old Forge area & miss this place. Great food, fish cakes were awesome. Great drinks, they make a mean whiskey sour.

Good quesadillas . Linguini with clams wasn't very flavorful. Salads fine. We had good and very friendly service. Place was loud when we arrived at 8:30 - and note that the last order must be made before 9 pm!!!

Fabulous tavern! Off the beaten path and worth the drive to find this little gem! Great food, great service! Small intimate dining experience! Get there early as it tends to get busy quick! Best bartenders around! :)

The third attempt to get into dinner at Red Dog Tavern finally paid off. A word of advice- go early or be prepared to wait. But the wait is worth it. Huge portions of food and friendly staff. We had enough to take home for at least 2 more meals. We will definitely come back again.

We picked the Red Dog based on years of friends and family positive reviews. We also had a great experience last year. Our group arrived at 5:30 and were seated right away. The owner greeted us at our table and took our drink order. We enjoyed a few minutes of light banter, with the owner, which included a reference to... More
