When I moved from Northport in 1990 Jonathan's was a gourmet market. A really nice one too! Back visiting a friend I decided to try this dining location. Downtown Huntington was always a favorite spot of mine and now this locale is thriving with all...kinds of restaurants. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and a welcoming gesture from the owner. We arrived a little after 6 on a Friday night and were seated in a quiet corner. We were greeted by Brittney our young and attractive server. She did a wonderful service all through our dining experience. Service was excellent and every item we had from cocktails to entrees were fantastic! This is a real find in Huntington. Will definitely eat here again when back in town.More
Was told the food would knock my socks off. It did not. It was average at best. Best part of the dining experience was our server. He was fantastic....He saved the evening for us.
Extremely expensive for portion and quality of food. Will not go again. Made an attempt to voice my concern but young woman would not listen.
I went to Jonathan’s with several others, all but one of whom ordered pasta. There were two prices listed for pasta options on the menu (one price being $10 more than the other) and since the waitress never explained otherwise, all 3 of us independently...assumed the lower price applied to our lunch orders. When the 3 pastas arrived, all 3 of us remarked that the portions of the pasta were very small. Two of us are very light eaters and typically ask to wrap up 50 percent of our pasta/food and yet we both finished our pasta and looked to the bread to quell our appetites. When the bill came and we were each charged $25, as opposed to $15, for the unreasonably small pasta servings, we each individually expressed disbelief to the waitress and stated that she must have erroneously charged us for the larger dish. The waitress immediately became defensive and instead of acknowledging that 3 separate guests who have never together had this experience and can’t possibly all be wrong or lying, does not so much as apologize, no less comp a soda or cup of coffee. It’s not like any of us had been drinking, either. Worse yet is the reality that adding more pasta to an extremely over-priced plate is such a cheap proposition for any restaurant. I’ve never had a dining experience where the entire experience felt worse than being pick-pocketed on a subway.More
It was my first time at Jonathan's and i must say that i was not impressed. The ravioli dish that i had was just ok. Dont go there hungry you will leave hungry. The portions are very small.
We had visited this restaurant several years ago and were disappointed then, but decided last night to try again. I wish we had not. We did make a reservation and were eager to have a nice dinner. Upon entering and telling the hostess our name...and reservation, the hostess proceeded to walk 3 feet to a table right smack in front of us next to the bar, in the middle of people walking in an out and around the bar and very close quarters. We asked if we could sit elsewhere and were told no; there was a party in the back and not enough available tables. And so we sat. It was incredibly noisy because of where they had us sit and we couldn't even talk to each other! We were bumped throughout our dinner by people walking in and out of the bar area and oblivious to us sitting there. We had hoped the meal would've made up for all this, but unfortunately it did not! The potato leek soup was just thick and creamy broth with no traces of potatoes or leeks. I ordered branzino coated with walnuts. It was very heavy and way too rich, literally smothered with the walnuts, and the accompanying "mustard sauce" tasted more like the potato leek soup we had rather than mustard. The broccoli rabe on the plate was fine; nothing special but cooked fine. My husband's scallops were undercooked! I had half my meal still left on my plate when someone asked if I was done? I honestly just wanted to get out of there. So I said yes. I don't know what was worse, being made to feel like we were not valued customers, the food, or the people waiting to be seated right in front of us staring at us while we ate. I felt like I was in a diner, not a fine restaurant. At these prices, the experience should've been better than it was. The owner/manager clearly could have suggested we wait and have a drink at the bar for a better table, but they insisted it was there or nowhere! Awful customer service. I will say, the waiter actually looked like he felt badly and was very nice to us, and trying his best. The highlight of the night was going to Ben & Jerry's down the street! We will not be returning.More
I have been eating at this lovely and unique restaurant in the middle of Huntington Village for years. Everyone in Huntington does--for special occasions, for your birthday or just for lunch. Owner Roberto presides, making certain that the meal is just right and that no...touch is missed. The dining room staff and kitchen runs like a clock. The beautiful and eclectic space has many private corners for a romantic meal yet allows for a busy bar scene or even a larger party without interfering with other guests. The food is always superb-- of the highest quality and prepared faultlessly. Oysters are always on the menu as are many authentic Italian appetizers including the most delicious and fresh Buffalo milk mozzarella you have ever tasted. Other restaurants may be glitzier but the test of a great restaurant is consistency and on this count Jonathans always delivers. I learned on my last visit that the restaurant is celebrating 25 years during which time I have never had a bad meal here. Highly recommend this always great, always accommodating and very special place.More
Stopped on a whim for dinner. Servers were very friendly. Menu quite limited. Not many choices. Bolognese suace was very good. Nice enough but Could be better. Very clean
The food is simply excellent - a more varied menu than you usually run across. Service is excellent too.
