we had a quiet sunset sidewalk table across from the park....and shared a melange of items ..Chicken Satay,,Papaya Salad (Som-Tam) and Panang Salmon ....everything was scrumptious and each items prepared exactly to the spiciness we requested...the waitress was the owner & the cook and she...was simply delightful and a lot of fun. If you enjoy Thai this is your Oasis.More

We stopped in for lunch. It was fairly busy, and became busier when a large party (who clearly had a reservation) came in. The single waitress had a very hard time keeping up with all of the tables. Although our food was served promptly, it...took awhile for her to take our order. It would have taken longer, had we not helped ourselves to the menus. At the end of the meal there was a substantial wait before I was able to catch her eye to get our check, and if I hadn't had brought it to the cash register the wait would have been much longer. I am in no way suggesting that the waitress was incompetent---she was in fact very good, but with the number of patrons, especially if they knew about the large party--a second waitress was needed. However, the food was delicious. We both had a different stir fry, and we both deemed it to be extremely tasty, spiced well, and very fresh. I especially liked that I was able to get brown rice for a $1.00 upgrade. Will I return? Yes!!! Hopefully the service will be better!More

I eat here at least once a week -- the staff are friendly, the kitchen is efficient and well-run, and the Himmapan is a salty, umami-rich treat. Before Isaan Thai Star opened, you either had the bizarre, fairly unappetizing experience of eating at Wasana in...Catskill, or you had to travel at least a half hour to get those flavors as your options. From the get, Isaan Thai Star put out really excellent food, sauced and spiced right with quality ingredients. They grow many of their own herbs and veggies in their summertime organic garden. Can't say enough nice things about this place. Go get the Himmapan with vegetables and brown rice, my lunchtime favorite.More

Issan served fresh flavorful food. The dumplings were homemade and very fresh with well balanced dipping sauces. The main dishes were fairly standard versions of most Thai places.

Six of us came for dinner and three of us didn't come close to finishing our meal. I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai, which was a gloppy mess of noodles & almost no veggies, soaked in an overly sweet, unappetizing sauce. The shrimp were OK; nothing...special but fortunately must have been cooked separately b/c they were edible. My husband's Crispy Duck was overcooked and he said his veggies were bland and also overcooked. We noticed that our friend who ordered the salmon special left half her dish. Service was fine. The prices are top dollar for Thai food, so our meal was an expensive disappointment.More

The space is very pretty. Tables are not too close together and there are beautiful oversized photographs on the wall. The menu is somewhat small but has many of the dishes that people love. There were plenty of vegetarian and vegan items so my friend...and I ate very well. They had a great specials menu, but I didn’t try any as it didn’t have any vegetarian items. The drinks menu lists a couple of nice options for each category, and seemed priced well. I had a glass of Pinot noir from Willamette Valley and my friend had a local hard cider. We were very satisfied with our meals and the friendly staff.More

Upon entering, you know immediately you’re not in Kansas anymore, because it smells exotically delicious. I had Tom Yum soup, which was full of fresh vegetables and shrimp, in a richly spiced broth. My entree was one of the specials, fresh salmon with mango, snow...peas, and other vegetables, in a flavorful sauce, served with steamed rice. Salmon and veggies all cooked carefully, I.e., not overlooked; and beautifully presented. Portions are generous. Decor is clean and light, nothing more. Service is excellent. But go for the food.More

Since this restaurant is relatively new in town, I thought I would put it to the test by ordering one of the most typical Thai dishes, Pad Thai, which has rice noodles combined with a variety of odds and ends like bean sprouts, mushrooms, slivers...of other veggies, and a protein in a tangy sauce. Isaan Thai Star's version consists almost entirely of noodles. Other bits and pieces are barely detectable. The taste of the dish is appealing; but I will need to hear they have upped their game before going there again. The people at the restaurant are very cordial. I hope they will be able to develop a more successful formula in the weeks ahead.More
