I came here with some friends for my birthday during happy hour expecting to get 1 or 2 margaritas during the happy hour with my tacos. As soon as the Manager heard it was my birthday, he allowed us to have the happy hour for...my whole party after happy hour ended! The staff also brought out 4 free shots for all of us! They also let me pick a few songs on their sound system. They went above and beyond for my birthday and I will definitely bring friends to celebrate here and celebrate here next year! The margaritas were strong and tasty! I liked the mango-peach and strawberry-mango best and $6 for each during happy hour is a great price! The tacos are amazing which is why I keep coming back! The quality is amazing and are pretty cheap compared to other places on Long Island. Overall this place gets 11/10 in my book for their amazing staff, great food and drinks, and nice cozy atmosphere!More

We visited Nelly’s on a Friday evening. The restaurant was not super crowded, but was doing quite a bit of carry out. The first thing that struck us was how the place looks very nondescript from the outside, but is lively and nicely decorated once...you step through the door. There are 60 different kinds of tacos to try, but we went with some standards and some that were recommended by the person helping us. We were not disappointed in any regard - all were tasty. We also tried the chips and salsa which were excellent, and were refilled for us - a nice touch. The prices are not cheap, but not expensive when you consider the quality and freshness of the tacos. Ok if you are really hungry stay away .paid 10 dollars $ for skirt steak tortas. Dry hard steak 3 oz. Left starving

Went for dinner- not a fancy place -you give your order and then they will bring your food to the table or you can do take out. there are lots and lots of various tacos to choose from or you can create your own. I...chose to create my own skirt steak tacos. I chose a flour tortilla or you can choose a corn tortilla. you choose your type of sauce, you choose any extras and they will bring it out to you. when the food came it was really amazing and delicious I have not found Mexican as authentic as this on Long Island -highly recommend.More

Family owned. Fresh food made with love. Authentic. Run, don't walk. You can either select your taco based on the main ingredient, (steak, chicken, fish, veg, etc) and then the sauces. Or, you can create your own. Very friendly, nice people. Place has room for...lots of people even though it's in a strip mall.More

Food is sooooo fresh and delicious, have not tasted tacos with such fresh ingredients. Best taco shop around hands down. Nelly's Rocks!!

Might as well crown Nelly's Tacqueria, the Taco Queen of Nassau County! Her tacos really live up to her fame. There are 112 different, yes counted on their menu as their 133 is BYO( build your own) taco. I guess you can dream and make...whatever you like for them to create for you! Price per taco ranges from the low $2.75 all the way to $5.75...while most are in the $3 to $4 range. Quite afforable for yummy goodness. They have beef( ground beef, skirt steak), chicken, pork, stew beef/chicken, shrimp, fish, vegetable and even something called Tex-Mex mixed meat(?). Thy even have breakfast tacos too! The food is well prepared, fresh and wrapped in aluminum foil with the number of the taco marked. Quite efficient system. Order at the counter and they'll bring it out to you at your table. Bottle drinks of many varieties will suit anyone's liking. Happy eating and I'll see you around the table!More

We had seen Nelly's on restaurant hunter and had to give it a try. Well needless to say it was well worth it as the Chorizo tacos were incredible as were the mucho tacos for the hungry heart......

Moved from the Midwest where Mexican food is aplenty, and have been disappointed so far with most of the Mexican food here. So, when we saw that Nelly's was opening because of the lack of good Mexican food, we were excited to try it. We...will return here for tacos, although I am tempted to try some of the other items too. We had the tacos, and were very happy with them. They had a good amount of meat in each one, except the shrimp which could have used a little more. The shells were moist and flexible, and did not rip from being too dry. The meat was tender and juicy, in both the pork (al pastor) and the beef tacos. I personally thought the beef were better. Tiny place, probably 8 tables total, and service was quick for dinner (5pm) but we were the only ones that early. They also had the mexican popciles for sale too for desert.More

I hear this used to be a pizza joint that also sold a mean taco. So mean, in fact, that the pizza went "buh bye" when the tacos started taking off. To me, all that tex/mex stuff tastes the same so hubby and I tried...Nelly's after it was reviewed in Newsday.. EVERYTHING is good! If you can't read the menu, just point to any item and you won't be sorry. Down side? Yup. The wait staff is friendly but clueless. Orders are constantly wrong. The wait time (even for a taco) is absurdly long. It's extremely chaotic for a very tiny place. But really...good!!More
