I tasted the most delicious Salmon Sashimi in my life at this great restaurant. Everything I tried was super: Udon soup, sushi rolls, donburi, good desserts. The service was excellent. Pricey but it’s worth.

From the moment I walked in I was put off by the service. Being asked "Only 1?" isn't customer friendly. What did they want? couples only? 2 or more? Sorry, I'm single and eat out alone. The servant was visibly unhappy when I ordered tea...and not beer or sake. I asked what oysters they had and I did get an answer, so I asked the waitress to find out from the sushi chef what oysters he had. She came bake with two types. That's quite poor for an oyster bar. When I asked what oysters were in the dozen oyster plate, the answer was 1 type: Hama. So to get any variety in oysters I had to order two different a la carte oyster dishes. I then augmented the order with some other appetizers. When the oysters arrived, it was clear the fresh sea taste was not there. Not sure if that was the type of oyster or the overall handling and preparation. I then ordered a la carte sashimi. When I asked how many pieces came in an order, the waitress answered 1. So I ended up ordering twice as much as I needed because there were 2 slices (sometimes 3 or 4) per order. Quantity aside, this fish was not as fresh as I'm accustom too in comparison with other sushi establishments in Hartsdale near the train station or Ardsley. When the bill came, I was disappointed with the cost versus the quality or service treatment. All in all, if you're really hungry and can't wait to drive somewhere else to eat.. go ahead. Enjoy Tsuru Sushi (Not Oyster Bar). Otherwise.. go to any sushi house that's been serving the neighborhood during the past 20 years - they are only a few left. At least you'll pay the same price and get 'high end' sushi! I wonder if they really know sushi. When I ordered my a la carte sashimi in Japanese, I had to translate my selections to English.. hmmm not bad for a gaijin. I would return or recommend Tsuru Sushi.More

Go here for lunch, dinner, happy hour, sushi - you name it, you will enjoy it. Bento box lunch specials cannot be beat. Everything is fresh and delicious and the prices are very reasonable.

I have been frequenting this little Japanese restaurant for many years. Although it was true that a couple of years ago the decor was sagging, the sushi was extraordinarily fresh and in some cases very imaginative (the dancing eel roll was very special). The restaurant...was frequented by the many Japanese expats living in the surroundings. With a change of management (ownership?) the restaurant has changed and now is focused around an oyster bar (instead of a sushi bar) and has adoped an open-space, modern look. No complaining however - the sushi is still excellent. If possible, visit at lunchtime and order a bento box. Great price for a very fine meal. My personal favorite is the grilled eel (which comes with rice, dumplings, California roll, salad).More

This restaurant is about 5 mins away from my house. I always passed it when I went to that shopping center but never gave it a second thought. Recently I wanted some sushi but did not want to drive to my usual spot. By now...I have had their lunch specials more than 10 times (take out) and my family has eaten there twice. The quality is very good and the staff is very friendly. To be honest the sushi is as good as the sushi hot spot in white plains, and you get a slightly better deal on the lunch specials. My only gripe is they tend to forget the salad a lot on the lunch specials. Other than that I definitely recommend trying them.More

Often times, when on the road in places away from the metropolitan cities, I take risk in going local for sushi. This night, we were with couples and the task fell upon me to find a local sushi place. This one was in a strip...mall – unpretentious and quite subdued yet clean and well organized. The sushi bar was in the back with the tables arrayed out front and a separate liquor bar completes the room. We had just about everything on the menu that was strictly Japanese. No fusion tacos, spaghetti, or canolis. I did have to explain to the bartended how to make a negroni – but he did it perfectly the first time, so I had another. And another. Very friendly staff. Engaging server. Sushi chef and crew were very accommodating. The oysters were fantastic. Clean. Plenty parking. Easily accessible from the main road. Do check this place out. I added it to our favorite spots when in town. Highly recommended.More

This place is a little cheaper than other local sushi places; and, you get what you pay for. As far as Westchester places go, this was ho-hum. Miso soup was fine. I ordered the sushi platter. $19.00. None of the selected sushi pieces stood out....A couple of the pieces tasted unusual, but not in a good way. Standard size for the county. It was acceptable, but not the Westchester 'standard' you get with the places downtown White Plains and Mamaroneck. Our waiter disappeared after he brought the food. Hello, I'd like to take the leftovers home, and I'd like the check. We waited and waited. Our first/last visit.More

My wife and I took our three grown grandsons out for dinner on Friday night. They all love sushi, so we decided to give Tsuru a try. We made Open Table reservations and found a 'reserved' sign on out table when we arrived. Nice touch....The dining room is decorated in a modern style, but was very comfortable and inviting. We started our meal with a variety of soups (my Tom Yum was spicy hot and delicious) and salads, followed by an assortment of sushi rolls. I had a Spicy Girl roll that just melted in my mouth. We then ate our way through an assortment of bowls, including chicken udon, shrimp soba, pad see ew and pad Thai. And just for good measure we shared an order of shrimp and vegetable tempura. All the food was delicious, the portions were huge and we were all stuffed by the end of the meal. As for the service, it was excellent. The servers were very attentive, clearing the dishes, filling the water and tending to all our needs, always with a friendly smile. The manager (owner?) stopped by several times to make sure things were going well. Tsuru may become our Japanese restaurant of choice when visiting New York. We certainly will return in the future.More
