BUS SERVICE TRAINING

We have been going to Edgewater for over 20 years and have always enjoyed a great culinary experience. The wait service is very good, but the bus staff needs training. Over the years, we have noticed that the bus staff has come to our table wanting to remove the dishes before both diners are finished eating. This last time, a bus person actually reached across the table within inches of my wife's face, to remove a bread plate while my wife was still eating. The same bus person waited 4 feet away for several minutes waiting for us to get up to leave. Also, asking if you are finished, while still chewing makes you feel very rushed. I hope that these suggestions will improve the service, because your restaurant is exceptional, and the food is great.

So good we went twice!!

Came across this place when having a quick visit to the Hamptons when visiting Manhattan from the uk. Found it by accident. Loved the atmosphere. Food was perfect, wine delicious. All staff from the welcome on arrival to all wait staff were friendly and helpful, & made us feel so welcome. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. As was staying another night we decided just to go back & was not disappointed! Again the food was spot on, delicious wine & the staff are above par! Had a great night and would love to come back one day. Such a friendly family-like atmosphere, just loved it. Thank you to all of the staff, especially Nicola, Chrissy & Kim for making this a trip to remember.

Terrific Food

Edgewater Restaurant was recommended by the innkeeper where I was staying. I was dining with friends and didn't realize it served Italian cuisine until we had made the decision to go there. To me, Italian food is what I have at home, especially when I don't particularly feel like cooking, or am the mood for a slice. I had recently had an Italian meal in Greenwich Village, Manhattan and it was, like the previous times I've eating Italian food out, meh. This includes my visits to Rome and Milan (yes, in Italy) as well as a number of places on Long Island. Wanting to be a good sport, I went along with our decision. I was so pleasantly surprised! I had a garden salad and the herb-crusted chicken and each was delightful. The latter consisted of a generous portion of char-grilled breasts, topped with fresh, chopped tomato and feta cheese on a bed of kale and beets. I'm not a picky eater but I hadn't eaten beets since my mother made me eat picked beets when I was a little girl. This meal changed my mind about 1) Italian food in restaurants and 2) beets and that's big! 😁 My cousins each had the lobster rigatoni and insisted I have a taste. OMG! Yummy! I look forward to dining here the next time I visit The Hamptons.

How many ways can you mess up a dinner?

My wife had the shrimp oreganata over risotto. The shrimp were under cooked. The risotto was thick and pasty. Otherwise it was fine. Since her entree was underwhelming, she ordered a basket of plain bread, for which we were charged. They cleared the table and eventually brought us a basket of garlic bread. No plates. No knives to spread the butter onto the GARLIC bread which we did not want. We have been here a few times before but based on tonight, will not be running back anytime soon.

Bad take out order.

I called and ordered take out--the 16 oz ribeye which came with fries. I was told to pick it up in twenty minutes and it was ready. When I unpacked the order, the meat and fries were together in one plastic container, which meant that the fries were covered in grease. When I cut into the meat, I realized that half of the steak was fat, although the other half was very tasty. Both of these things are unacceptable but the meat was the biggest rip-off as it was $48. I have been coming to this restaurant for years and the quality of the food and the service has gone down.

First time at Edgewater while visiting on a family weekend. Service was very pleasant but the food was somewhat bland. A basic pasta dish was edible but without any particular seasonings or flavor that could be readily detected. However, the branding was excellent. This seemed like a popular place with locals, judging from the crowd and conversations overhead. You can get a decent meal here but don’t expect anything spectacular.

major dissapointment

This was one of our favorite go to restaurants before the pandemic. We had not been out to dinner since this whole thing started. It was our anniversary and we are fully vaccinated so we figured we we go out. The place was packed at 5:45 on a Tuesday which was a surprise this early. We ordered some appetizers, the calamari which the coating fell off as soon as you touched them with a fork which left us with bare calamari. The faro salad was good. Here is we we go south. The delivered a bottle of water to the ta be which was filthy. OK I am not drinking the water anyway but should not happen. Then we order a nice bottle of wine for dinner. They bring out glasses and pour but the glasses are absolutely filthy with lipstick and look like they were not washed. We tell the waiter who takes the glasses away and pours the wine in a new glass instead of giving us new wine. I don't know about you but this is unacceptable especially during COVID. We paid our bill and left. without dinner or dessert.

Lovely hostess but service and food slow and lack of service generally. Food very average. Salty average pizza, extortionate priced wine, truly awful cheese cake, dry chocolate brownie, Lots of staff but not attentive.. not rude but not interested..obviously the bill was swiftly put on the table as it was clear they wanted to go home.

Great restaurant!

I can’t believe anyone giving this restaurant a negative review. The appetizers, the entrees, and the desserts were delicious. We had pasta, eggplant, meat balls, chicken, and shrimp. Everyone loved their dishes and could not say enough good things about the excellent service and the food. This is not our first visit to this restaurant, and we are never disappointed.

so glad to eat out again

while visiting my daughter at her summer job, we were looking for someplace to eat. We struck out at a few places and the valet at one place recommended this. We waited an hour in the parking lot with our drinks, but it was nice out and we were happy to be going out again. Staff was efficient and showing proper protocols for the circumstances. We were seated outside and our server was efficient and pleasant. We had the fried ravioli for an appetizer ( 3 for $12) they were delicious . Our entrees were very good as well. i had shrimp breaded over a risotto with a blush red sauce. My daughter had pasta, one with blush sauce with proscuito and peas and the other with sausage and broccoli rabe.. The portions were large but so was the price. I knew going in that it was the hamptons, but we paid $27 for 2 drinks and a tonic with a twist, and $92 for 3 entrees and 1 app. Overall it was a treat! Not sure I would venture to pay this again but it was nice t be dining out again! Most restaurants we called only took reservations for 6 or more, Weird!

Amazing!

The service was fantatic. The waiter knew everything about the different dishes and we did not feel like we had to rush though dinner at all. The presentations were amazing too. The food was delicious. There were a nice amount of tables. In the summer there is outside seating.You can see the bay from the restaurant also. There is parking in the front and the back. They have a nice variety on the menu from steak to salads.

This place truly has its act together, one of the best run restaurants in the area. Once we were seated are waitress was over to us within 3 minuets. Food came out hot and delicious shortly after we ordered. She came back to check on us numerous times and we had are bill soon after we asked. A great dinning experience.

The best part;No reservations needed so immediate seating was available even with a full house- Very pleasant waiter & waittreses. A really fun vibe outside on the porch. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. We were 9 people and all ordered a different dish- I tasted all of them and they were exceptional. Took enough home for lunches the next day. The Berry Naughty martini was amazing.

Great local spot for Italian food

Food = Great, Atmosphere is always lively, There are outdoor tables in the Summer, Bar is large and a great spot for locals and visitors to the area. Several fish tanks and a great Koi pond outside. On site parking is great but fills up fast
