Can’t wait to go back!

At least three times thru the meal my wife and I looked at each and said “we’re coming back here”…in all honesty this was lame of the amazing restaurant/pub lunches that I’ve had in a long time. My wife had the quinoa salad and I had the house salad with the shishito peppers appetizer. The service was excellent and the value for the price was great too…we will be back for sure; need to try out some selections from the the dinner menu which looked fantastic. [ Sorry about the half-eaten-already photos… :-) ]

You know when you walk into a restaurant and you are greeted like you’re family or an old friends? A greet that makes you feel like you belong there. Owner, works her tail off. Happy beautiful and always accommodating. Service is on point. Food is so yum. Cocktails are always current / was trendy. Black bean burger is so delish. Fries rock with their spicy mayo. Fried chicken (omg) the chicken wings (must order). Love coming here for the sense of camaraderie. And for for how welcoming they make my little maltipoo feel. Thanks.

DINNER THEATER

Went to their dinner theater show "A Christmas Carol". Sat as a table of 4. Price included a three course dinner and a one man show. It was intimate (< 20 people), outside and followed all of the COVID rules. The actor did an amazing job setting the scene, playing narrator and all of the characters you know so well. The two acts separated the courses and the staff was well attentive throighout. Our salads, soup, meatball appetizers, steak, chicken, fish and bread pudding was delicious and plentiful. It was a very festive, enjoyable and memorable night. We are all looking forward to another opportunity to stop in. Enjoy!

Terrible food and overpriced!

We went with a party of 8 to eat outside during phase 3 of Covid restrictions (4 adults, 4 kids) We had to wait on ourselves, food came to the table in takeout containers and plastic silverware/cups. The salad looked like bagged salad, the burgers were completely burnt, and the buns looked like three day old buns from the local market. The bill was over $300 and it was absolutely awful! Right down the road people are dining outside with actual waitstaff and diner plates/glasses. Outrageous they are charging those prices for such a terrible experience!

Good Food and Dog Friendly!

Spending a long Valentine’s weekend in Greenport and was looking for a place to go for lunch that had outdoor seating, First and South has a great outdoor seating area with hot air blowers which made it very comfortable to enjoy lunch while it was really cold outside. They also have excellent COVID precautions in place. The food was very good from the Fried Chicken Sandwich, Mac n Cheese with Pulled Pork and the Really Good Bacon Cheeseburger (yes, that’s the name of it) and the fries served in a bag are great! If you are in the Greenport area, First and South is a place to stop for lunch or dinner.

Outstanding food and service

Gorgeous spot with amazing food and warm and friendly service. Felt so welcome from the moment we walked up—we were ushered to a cozy table on the patio so we could dine with our two Scotties. We were kept warm by a heat lamp and copious amounts of blankets. This has to be one of the most dog friendly restaurants I’ve ever been to in the US—my babies were given a huge bowl of fresh water and were greeted with a big smile. Outstanding Bloody Mary, and the food was simply melt-in-your-mouth. Will I drive to New London from Boston just to take the ferry here for brunch? Honestly, maybe.

Off the Beaten Path but Wonderful

We wandered in on a slow weeknight in the off-season. We were immediately greeted and seated. The menu has lots of appealing choices, I opted for a salad topped with a grilled chicken breast, my husband went with a burger. Both were delicious (particular kudos to the fries that come with the burger - they are thick-cut and cooked just right.) Service was wonderful and cheerful. They have nightly bar specials for Happy Hour, and I'm going to have to return on a Monday to find out what an oyster shot is!

Incredibly unprofessional hostess

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER RELATIONS! My husband and I made a reservation to have dinner there this evening. After extensively searching restaurants in Greenport, New York, we decided on this restaurant. Reservation for two at 6:45 PM. Upon arriving, they seated 2 tables of four without reservation outdoors. When they asked us who we were, we told them, and they proceeded to sear us inside, and we told them we wanted to be outdoors. When they looked outside, they said we have no tables outside available. There were two tables for two outside that were set and ready to go. When I asked about those two tables, she said we have a reservation for two with a dog and that takes precedence over your reservation! My husband was rendered speechless! (A first), as was I. How can you put a table for two with a dog over two people who were already there and ready for the reservation and not seat them appropriately. As for the food, I cannot speak to it as we didn’t stay and eat there. How absurd is that! Being an animal lover, I can understand making that kind of a reservation with an animal. However, you do not take people who are standing there with a reservation and not seat them because you’re waiting for two others to arrive, who may not come. Based on the unprofessionalism of the hostess, her nasty demeanor, I would not recommend going here! But, if you would like to try it, you’re taking your dinner and your own hands.

Lively spot, yummy food!

Lively little spot right in the heart of Greenport’s commercial district. A lovely outside eating area which welcomes pets, and a large bar area and indoor dining room. The menu is not extensive, but offers a variety of apps, entrees and salads. We had the honey/citrus salmon and roast chicken entrees, and the portions were just right and food was delicious. The wine offerings are very limited…they seems more focused on cocktails . Thought the prices were reasonable as well. Overall , a very pleasant and satisfying experience.

This place is amazing. My husband is celiac and I generally eat gluten free along side him to make things easier when we eat out. We were so happy to find a restaurant that offered gluten free options that were delicious as well. The menu is extensive and there are nightly specials too. I had the gluten free macaroni and cheese one night and the kale Caesar salad the other night, both were delicious. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun one night and the hot wings the other night, and he raved about both his meals. The fries were the best I’ve had in a while, and the lemon garlic aioli was divine. This place was so good that we ate here two nights in a row. Also, the staff were so friendly. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back next time we visit the area.

Great food and service!

Walked in for lunch on a Saturday and ate in the dining room. Started with the fries and some dipping sauces to share. The angel hair pomodoro with shrimp was delicious and a big portion. Shared the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, which was so delicious. Service was perfect, not overbearing, but attentive.

Third time is a charm

We brought our midweek winter guests to First and South for lunch yesterday and everything was wonderful! Service, food and atmosphere all exceeded all expectations. Each time we come here we like it even more. PS ~ We loved the winter chalk art in the dining area

Dog Friendly and Awesome Food

We love this place! Sarah and her team provide excellent service and the food is fresh and ever changing. Cocktails are also ace. And you can bring your dog to eat with you in the Bar Room. Great vibe and full of locals kicking back and having a good time.

Fabulous restaurant in Greenport, NY.

There are a number of restaurants in Greenport, NY. We have not eaten at all of them, but First and South is the best restaurant I have visited in that town. Excellent cheeseburgers and fries, but also a fabulous seared fluke sandwich and a wonderful green bean appetizer. Pleasant service and reasonable prices. We will be back.

Amazing! Highly recommend.

Went with my husband on a Monday night. We were seated immediately. Very nice place. Very cozy looking. Not too busy. They had a TV screen of a lit fireplace on the wall. Server was very nice and attentive without being on top of us. Ordered the crab cake sandwich and the mussels. We enjoyed both very much. However, the hazelnut chocolate cake for desert was excellent!! My husband is still talking about it. I highly recommend this place for service, atmosphere and food. (Especially desert).
