Delicious dinners John was attentive as was the girl bus person Alot of Gen. Steaks, salmon, sides cooked to perfection You get what you pay for Quality, quality quality This place is a hidden gen. Chocolate Cake was mile high, cheesecake was enough for 4 people. The...tea box was the nicest presentation. A+ Now,neighbors at the other table were intermittent with their unbelievable " outside voices" The noise was so disruptive.. I believe in a good time, but this was nuts! Too loud Parking was ample, lighting, and access ẁas appropriate. Bathrooms clean, bar accessible Several areas off to the side if you have a large group. The waiter and bus girl were attentive. It's totally worth every dollar.More

I took my Husband here for his birthday and surprised him with another couple that joined us. The restaurant is in a former house which is beautiful. The decor brings you back to the past and is very classy. It was restaurant week so we...ordered off their special menu and it was excellent. My steak was seasoned well and was very tender the way it should be. Our waitress was very informative about each selection and about the history of the building. Definitely would come back here againMore

We live in the area but somehow never knew about this gem of a restaurant until recently. We've now dined there three times in one month and it's our new favorite. First of all, the service is outstanding. The staff are professional and friendly. Part...of what makes dining here so enjoyable is the fantastic service. The food is very good (starting with the bread which they bring out -the warm popovers and pretzel bread are delicious!) I love the atmosphere:cozy, dark, with a very cool 1920's vibe. Can be a little pricey, but well worth it. My only complaint would be the rather boring choice of desserts available.More

If you enjoy very good steak without the high prices and snobbiness of some other high end steak places on Long Island, this is a great find. Quality Beef and prices 20-20% cheaper than the competition

We enjoyed the lovely ambiance of this classic steakhouse as well as the warm and welcoming staff. The service was on point and the food was delicious. We had the crispy pork belly, french onion soup, short ribs, and marinated skirt steak; the drinks were...excellent too! Live music provided by Sweet Tea Acoustics was the perfect accompaniment, making for an amazing dining experience!More

From the moment you walk into the restaurant you are made to feel welcome. We had a reservation for 2 on a Friday night. We were immediately asked if we wanted our coats checked and the hostess took our coats from us and walked them...over herself. Our table was ready immediately and in a little room to the side which was very nice. There was live music playing, a singer and a guitar. Our salad was delicious and our steaks cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The sweet potatoes were incredible and so decadent with sweetness. Perhaps the ice cream dessert could have been a bit larger than a small dish, but we shouldn't even have ordered it since we were so full. Thank you to everyone there. It's definitely pricey, but worth it once in a while.More

This is a great steakhouse in the small upscale hamlet of Great River. The restaurant is in an old mansion. We were seated in a smaller old fashioned room that only had four tables. Very quaint and romantic. Our porterhouse for two was cooked to...perfection - medium rare. Nicely seasoned and presented beautifully. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery. Service was on point and very friendly. It was a great dinner but I prefer Rothmann's Steakhouse in East Norwich.More

This hidden gem in beautiful Great River, The George Martin Strip Steak is a must try, tonight 3 good fiends for a quick impromptu dinner at the bar the tomahawk steak for two and of course my favorite the GM bone in strip steak was...cooked and served to perfection. Excellent and attentive staff and management team assuring that everything is just how you wanted it, including the sumptuous side dishes and of course well poured libations. I have frequented George Martin’s Strip Steak on many occasions and I can say with out reservation it is truly a top 10 Long Island Restaurant. Give them a visit you for sure will be pleasantly surprised. I love this place so much you would think I’m a food critic, but I like to give credit where credit is due, I’m sure you will feel the same. Paul Llobell Llobell Realty Corp.More

Food, drinks, and a amazing staff make this hidden gem the perfect spot for a dinner out with your significant other, family or friends. We have been frequenting this fine, reputable establishment hidden in South Great River ever since it opened. I can say with...absolute certainty, we have never been disappointed. From the second you enter, you feel warm and welcome as the hostess greets you and offers to take your coat at the door. They offer one main dining room with three smaller rooms around the outskirts. We prefer the main room and usually start at the bar before our reservation for a fabulous cocktail or two. Service is quick and the bar can be a little tight, but dint let the latter scare you. Folks are constantly getting up to go to their tables. Their drink menu has numerous specials and of course they offer pretty much everything one can think of. The steaks are the real deal. My wife and I usually get either the cowboy cut or NY Strip. This past Saturday they had a 40 oz. tomahawk as a special which my wife and I ordered and shared. The other couple we dined with did the same and none of us were disappointed. We added the pop shrimp (please try this), fries calamari, truffle fries (amazing) spinach, and mushrooms (ugh) as our sides. And of course we’re pretty much full when dessert time came around. We all shared the ice cream, they do it up special and it was brilliant. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this place it worth your time and money. We always leave satisfied and have recommended friends and family that are still thanking us for introducing them to our favorite local steakhouse!!!More

This wasn’t our first time here. My parents, husband and I, had 8:15 New Year's Eve dinner reservations. We arrived early to enjoy a drink at the bar. We waited some, as the bar area was slim and crowded. It’s a shame. They need a...bar area to wait in. We waited in the coat check, reception desk area where many servers were inconvenienced. No one was disrespectful though. They had a 2020 photo area with props. Fun! Our 8:15 reservations were on time. We were seated in the small room, away from all the noise. Shawn greeted us. He was so nice. Easy going. He did not rush us. He was attentive. There were specials. The prices were certainly higher. We ordered two shrimp cocktail appetizers. Jumbo shrimp with both cocktail sauce and remoulade sauce. Delicious. My parents shared a wedged salad with anchovies. For dinner, we ordered the scallops and risotto, two strip steaks and braised short ribs. The meats came with a small side but we ordered the sweet potato wedges in maple syrup. So delicious. We declined coffee and dessert as it was 10pm. (Buy the vacant building next door and make the place more accommodating to the patrons).More

George Martin's was highly recommended by some of our family who had eaten there recently. We finally splurged ... yes it is expensive! While the hostess was not the most welcoming, our waiter was most professional, friendly and attentive .... as were the entire waitstaff....We went early on a Saturday night, not too crowded but getting busy and that did not really adversely affect us. The lighting and acoustics could have been a little better. The steaks were great and cooked to order perfectly. I have had better steaks but none the less, our were still excellent, the sides were tasty, served hot and not overly salty like many other steak houses. Cheesecake desert was one the best we have had. They do it right, well worth it!More

The "house" is quaint and I believe under the right circumstances it would have been a lovely experience. I reserved a table for 2 and expected a semi quiet romantic dinner. I was seated in a corner with a table of 12 taking up the...main space. That would have been all right but this main table was overly loud and even drowned up the music. Had the staff, and they HAD to realize this, showed a bit of consideration they would not have sat a couple in with a group that thought they were at Applebys. The sides were good and the steak very good but it was hard to have a pleasurable experience considering the noise level. We did not stay for dessert. As this was our first time there I can't rate it too highly. I understand that a group of 12 is great for business but give them the floor and move others to a different room. --with a little consideration I would have rated this higher.More

The service is exceptionally good and the building is a cool old speak easy...according to the history conveyed by the waitress......it is quite pricey...but not really that good...I ordered the Prix Fix..wedge salad...that was very good....8oz filet mignon...supposed to be blackpepper crusted with au poivre...sauce...when it arrived it looked like it was barely a quarter pound...hardly any black pepper and just regular gravy that did not have any taste...I ordered the "loaded" baked potato..I got half a cold potato with a little bit of bacon on it....and some cold cheese that was shredded on it...no sour cream, the only butter was from the pop overs ( which were fairly good...not very eggy, though...and a little greasy)...that butter had sugar or something sweet in it that would have been fine with french toast or pancakes, but it does not compliment bread with a steak dinner.,,,the desert was a maple ice cream that was pretty good...I though that I had seen on the Prix fix menu that we were to have gotten asparagus with our meal...but we never saw it ...my wife had the Delmonico steak with a gargonzola crust on it.....she thought that the steak was tough...and the "crust" was a mushy glob of cheese that was unimaginative...just thrown on top and not a crust at all.....we were a group of 15 people...the waitress ( Cat) was great and she did give us separate checks, which although common all over the rest of the country seems to cause a problem at restaurants here in New York...overall it was ok...but for George Martin and for the price it should have been at least "good", if not great...I would not recommend it to someone and it is not likely that i would go back...not terrible....but for that price I want better than just "ok" foodMore
