I don’t often drink beer but I love there beer flight with dinner. Four different beers that are excellent. My husband loves the three different sausage plates, and I love the spatzle. They have all sorts of Bavarian German foods. Topping off the meal with Black Forest cake is a treat when we are not too full. Good sized portions. Last night all four of us were so full we couldn’t even share one piece for desert. Well worth the 45 minute wait to be seated at 3 pm on a Sunday afternoon.

Last Sunday we decided to return to Zum after a too long stay away for personal reasons.
We returned because we know we will be well served and enjoy the Best German Cuisine around.
Well we arrived and were greeted and seated right away. In a short time, we were once again greeted by a table server with a loaf of crusty bread with butter we look forward all the time.
Our Waitress again greeted us and took our drink order. WOW the amount of Beer selection will amaze you. I decided to have a Ceramic Mug of Pilsner and my wife an Ice Tea. We were given time to look over the menu.
We ordered a cup each of the daily soup Chicken Noodle Soup that was excellent. The broth was flavorful with thin egg noodles and the chicken was chopped in thin strips.
Next, we ordered the famous and very well ordered we have seen at many tables their Jägerschnitzel. Which is served with pan-fried potatoes and a selection of a side. I order the Red Cabbage, which was just right, and my wife Spinach.
I had this dish many times in the past and mainly came here for that dish that day. I was in heaven. The veal cutlet was properly pounded, breaded, and fried. The accompanied potatoes were very flavorful. In addition, just the right taste to the Red Cabbage that completed the meal.
Yes, there was a doggie bag taken home so we can enjoy one of their great desserts. We selected the Apple Strudel that was tasty and warmed. You were offered to have ice cream to accompany it. We very much enjoyed the strudel.
I cannot wait to return once again and enjoy another entrée on the menu.
Zum has their act together with service, food and atmosphere. You actually feel you are sitting in a tavern in the Black Forest.
Take the opportunity to enjoy what we like about Zum.. You will not be disappointed.

I’ve been to Munich a few times and Zum Stammtisch rivals any of the restaurants there .The food was absolutely phenomenal. The veal dishes where tasty and quite flavorful and the apple strudel was the best I’ve ever had. Everyone in our large party was more than satisfied with their meal. The service fabulous. Our servers were prompt but not overbearing and very pleasant. Finally the ambiance made me feel I was right in Bavaria. And the music was wunderbar but not too loud. Finally, the beer was authentic Hofbrau . It was a an evening not to forget. Thank you

My husband and I have been going to Zum Stammtisch for many years. Unfortunately they do not take reservations for two people which is a policy we think is absurd, however we still tried our luck this week and were willing to wait BUT the hostess (short blonde hair) completely dismissed my request to eat inside, even though I told her three times I did not want to eat outside. She basically ignored me and said the outside was warm, but this was not my concern. Also, there was an empty table sitting right in front of the restaurant but she said she needed it for a reservation. I reminded that I called for a reservation but their policy of not taking one for two people apparently left the table open for a party of four. What if I had made a reservation for four and then the other couple cancelled? Would I be allowed to sit there? RIDICULOUS. Had she been at least attentive and courteous I would not have minded, especially given that restaurants must be suffering these days. I really do not understand how a restaurant benefits from this. I am tempted not to return but will give them another chance since their food really is good. Service and courtesy certainly count too though, especially after wandering around looking for parking for 20 minutes and taking a half hour ride to get there. Remember your hostess manners Zum Stammtisch!!

Most people say that the Florida Keys where I live is paradise, but one thing is missing - Zum Stammtisch with its fantastic Goulash Soup is over a thousand miles away! I first found Zum's over 20 years ago when I lived in New York, and the food and service are as good now as they were then. After enjoying a delicious meal, you can visit the deli next door where you'll find a wide variety of German delicacies to take home, including frozen containers of Goulash and other soups.
One caveat - a bowl of Goulash Soup is a meal in itself, so if you want to enjoy some of the entrees on the menu perhaps ordering a cup of the soup would be wise.

This Is a classic German restaurant. The interior will send your imagination right to Bavaria and the cuisine will satisfy your palate as if you were in Munich. The portions are more than generous. It seems everyone goes home with a take home package. I've gotten 3 meals out of my prime rib - FLintstone size!

This place is absolutely lovely! It feels like you’re stepping into a German home and having a family meal together. The interior is so charming. The wait staff is even dressed in traditional German attire. It is truly a unique experience.
As far as the food, it is absolutely fabulous.
We started with a Giant Pretzel which comes with two mustards and horseradish. Plus we ordered the Schicken vings which are spicy and served with fries. If you must chose between the two the chicken wings and fries were fabulous….in fact the best I’ve ever had.
We had a party of four and I tasted all of the following dishes.
Me and my friend ordered the steak. Which was delicious. Husband ordered the breaded pork chops with applesauce he loved them and I agree. The other person ordered the breaded chicken cutlet served with home fries. That dish was also delicious.
Funny cause they some people order burgers and that’s what I want to try next time. They looked delicious.
For dessert we had warm Apple Strudel and Schwarzwälder Kirsch Torte which is
chocolate layer cake with sour cherries and whipped cream. Both delicious but if you must chose one then get the cake since it really is extra special. Plus you can stop by the store next door and take home the apple strudel and potato soup for the next day. They have peach tortes next door too!

I’ve been to many cities in the world where I should have had the best German food, etc. This includes cities in Germany, Austria, and even the US. Zum Stammtisch remains the best German food restaurant I have ever visited. The sauerbraten is to die for, along with the dumplings and Spätzle. And for dessert, you can have the delicious vanilla ice cream and raspberries. And as always, their Dunkel beer is the best. Kind of a hassle to get to using mass transit, but it’s worth it.

There isn't much that changes with this restaurant it is still the best German food you will find, and it's not close.
The old world decor and the bar area, as well as the staff, draw you back here. The store attached to the restaurant makes it easy to take many of your favorites home. The German potato salad, red cabbage, and especially the goulash are things we always bring home. This trip some spetzel as well. Last trip in, I got a nice growler of Warsteiner.
Today, I ordered the Sauerbraten 4 nice pieces smother in delicious gravy with 2 large dumplings and a side of red cabbage. Come very hungry, or you will be taking half of it home. The bread they serve prior is terrific to dip in the gravy!!!

We waited too long to get back here! And we live in Queens! This place is an icon. The giant pretzel with dipping sauce is my favorite, next to the baked camembert. Hubbs goes for the meat, had the smoked pork loin chops. We also ordered potato pancakes which are not listed on the menu (tip). We wanted to have dessert but were just too full. Hubs took home a pork chop, the portions are huge. The environment is classic dark wood and just warm, like you're in a chalet. Prost!

I had heard about this place from numerous folks over the years but this is my first time visiting. DW and I came here for a late lunch recently. Enjoyed some very good service and were happy with our meals. We tried the pretzel and it was quite fresh. The variety of beers was also nice. We had the tasty bratburger and the breaded pork chops for entrees. So much food we had to take some home. That left a little bit of space for the yummy strudel that we had for dessert. Will definitely try this place again.

Pleasant surroundings. Quiet German background music. We've been here before and I was looking forward to a great meal. Very disappointed. Although my cousin and his wife enjoyed their sauerbraten, my schnitzel was tasteless. One guest's potato dumplings were good, but the potato pancakes that I and another ordered were not ejoyable. They must have been over fried; both of us only ate part of one.
Although I ordered red cabbage for the side, I received mixed vegetables.
Since I was with a group, I did not comment on the food, it's just easier to vote with my feet and not come here again.
Nite that the menu in Trip Advisor is from 2012.

This place is always a go-to. Amazing food, amazing beer, amazing atmosphere. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favorite is always the Jaegerschnitzel. The service is always great too. I've been here more times than I can count and I've never had a bad experience. Some of the best German food outside of Germany!

Recently came back to Zum Stammtisch with family for some indoor dinner. While we have done take out since the COVID lockdown, this was the first time we have dined in some time.
The place has not missed a beat and the food is still AWESOME!!

We went to Zum in 2019, pre COVID, and happened to go there again with family members while in NYC for business. Nothing has changed, thanks goodness! Great authentic German food served by a friendly staff. And their food market next door was an added bonus to get German food for home!
